I came in on a Saturday evening with a small group of 7 and had a great experience. Our server was super friendly and helpful, ensuring everyone had what they needed at all times. The food took a little while to come out however when it did it was so good and flavorful. I got the sautéed shrimp with wild rice and asparagus and a Caesar salad. The Muskie fingers were delicious. The chicken Marsala and chicken piccata were not. They were poorly made, they were fried so hard you could not eat the small pieces of chicken. The chicken piccata came with 3 lemon slices, capers on top some heavy pasta noodles and tomatoes no sauce . The chicken Marsala came with sauce and rice. It seems that the reviews for this place are hit and miss, and I can understand why. My wife and I visited while traveling through town, and we had a wonderful experience. We stopped by for lunch, and had a crispy chicken sandwich and a Thai peanut bowl, both which were well prepared and flavorful. The interior is beautiful/charming with stained glass, and they have plenty of room throughout the restaurant. There were very few customers and just one server / bartender handling all of the tables. Fortunately our experience was pleasurable, the server (Merab B) was efficient and kind, and prices were reasonable at about $25 per person all in including soft drinks, tax and tip. Overall a pleasurable lunch, but I do wonder how they would have handled it had they had more than a handful of customers at one time. read more

A pretty standard bar along the main street of Bismarck. We sat at the bar and had a couple of beers with some food. First, the cheese curds. While delicious (and wonderfully not covered in breadcrumbs), they weren't hot when they got to us at the bar. Served with a dipping sauce, they were quite large and had a great flavor. I'd have these again but next time would send them back as not hot enough. I also chose the steak bites salad and it was a little disappointing too. For a bar that partners with what is probably the finest steakhouse in town, the steak on the steak bites salad was not great. Came here on my parents 50th anniversary...was told the restaurant was out of buns so we could only get three. Entrees were good, ordered the blueberry dump for dessert....took 30 minutes to come out. We finally got what looked like a well done pancake on top of some warm blueberries. Let's be clear from the beginning, you only got the second star because your Amaretto Sour was spot on and the servers were good, the food was not. Okay, let's get into this. Starting with our drink order, you were out of the N.A. Beer that my husband wanted, the one that is the good one and is usually stocked by all "high end" restaurants. As an appetizer, we ordered Asian Nachos, which had good flavor but poor execution. Everything was cold, like fridge cold. There was no attempt made in warming things up. I ordered a guacamole bacon burger, my husband ordered a prime horsey. First, let's talk about the guac bacon burger. When I got the burger it had about 2 teaspoons worth of guac on it, the burger itself was SO dry that it crumbled apart. My sweet potato fries where so over cooked that I ate about 3 of them and didn't have enough ranch to dip the rest of the dried out fries into. Now let's talk about the Prime Horsey. Well, to start, you hear the word prime and would assume you are getting prime rib, nope sirloin. The menu did note that, but if you are going to cut your quality maybe change the name. My husband got his food and it make my dried out burger look like a raw piece of meat. The beef was incinerated and the bun was dried out, he likened it to sawdust. His buffalo fries were good. We were with group of people, which I know is harder, but having worked in dining services I know it's still possible to get good food. We met in the back group room and our conversation was continually interrupted by the dishwasher banging dishes on the other side of the door in the back of the room. The servers were good and attentive, we appreciated that. The kitchen was not on their game, for more reasons then just the lousy food. The salads and appetizers came out timely, but the main course came out with no rhyme or season. Say guest 1, 7, 11, and 12 ordered the same thing, so those would come out together. Then guest 2 and 9 would come out together. Most of the people had finished eating before the last guy in the middle even got his food. We went for the hangar steak which has been pretty good in the past. Tonight they only had one order of hangar steak so the rest of us made other choices. I had the Steakhouse burger for $19. Sounds like a nice big juicy burger right? It's actually a paper thin frozen burger similar to what you would get from McDonald's. I should have known when I ordered and wasn't asked how I wanted it cooked. Well done was the only option you could cook a burger that thin. One of ordered the shrimp and that was dried out and rubbery. Had to get a side of melted butter to make it edible. The hangar steak wasn't as good as usual and it was overdone. We had the crab stuffed mushrooms for an appetizer and the crab smelled funny and had a strong taste to it. The walleye was not bad. This place looks great, tucked inside an historic building. The staff were extremely friendly and inviting. I had the Bacon Grind Burger. Yes... that's a burger with bacon ground right into the meat. I didn't eat the bun, but the burger, cheese, tomato and onion really hit the spot. Good, solid meat flavor. They serve them medium well, which sounded like it could be too done for my taste, but that wasn't the case. The burger was juicy and had a great, grilled flavor and of course the unbeatable taste of bacon throughout. I asked if I should get the fries or homemade chips. Chips were recommended so that's what I ordered. They were good. Very similar to Saratoga Chips at Montgomery Inn in Cincinnati. THEY CALLED THE COPS ON US! THE WORST RESTAURANT IN BISMARCK! I have never had a more disappointing dining experience in my life! My over 70 Uncle, Aunt, and neighbor were celebrating my Aunts 60th Birthday dinner and we wanted to do something special. We decided to go to the Peecock Ally, once known for their style, service and one-of-a-kind menu those days are now LONG gone. We reserved a table for 5 at 6:00pm.(no need MANY tables open for a Saturday night) As we walked up to the hostess station and prepared to be seated we mentioned that we were waiting for the last of our party who was parking. They introduced us to our waiter, Rudy, who appeared to be VERY overwhelmed for a slow night and rushed us along to be seated after repeatedly mentioning that we were waiting for the last of our party. After forcibly being seated in a dark corner we were asked if we would like to start with drinks but again told him we still are waiting for our 5th member and he didn't seem to grasp the concept of wanting to wait until we were all there to place our orders. We asked for water to keep him busy until our whole party was present. Rudy brought the waters out in groups, half empty. It's like he didn't understand the concept of a serving tray. We placed our orders and wanted to try the cheese curds. Rudy promptly returned to let us know they had run out of that menu item due to a larger table ordering them just before us. This was the first sign that we were going to be the afterthought for the night. He then tossed some bread down to substitute for the lack of inventory and said "Complements of the house" the bread comes with entrees to begin with. Our weak overpriced drinks arrived and the salads followed. I had the Caesar, which arrived on a plastic "pizza hut" style plate and consisted mainly of lettuce cores a sprinkle of parmesan and 5 small croutons. This would be the last we would see of Rudy until the bill arrived. Our food was delivered by a different server, before we were done with our salads, again they arrived two plates at a time and not on a serving tray, allowing us to start dining at the same time. The first issue was my uncle's Hanger Steak, something they made a big deal on the menu about: "We serve this steak medium rare only to ensure optimal tenderness." It was cold. After asking what looked like a female manager if they could warm it up a bit she walked into the kitchen and was back in less than a minute. It was still very cold in the center and now overdone on the outside. My potato was cold and a little undercooked but I was willing to deal with it. I heard the same from my aunts about their vegetables. The salmon is clearly a Sysco 4oz. frozen chunk and nothing special. At least the plates were real china. After we were finished eating we sat there for what felt like an eternity. We were never asked if we wanted another weak drink. Our waters were never refilled. Dessert was never offered? After not seeing our waiter for more than an hour, he reappeared to ask about our dining experience and we had to be honest and let him know it was very under par for what we were expecting. He had a look of shock on his face as if he had done so well how could this be? He then explained that the Peecock alley has a "Team service" policy and that he would make sure to yell at the other female server who brought out or food and who looked like she was doing all the actual work. The "manager" waddled over to our table and offered a fake, hollow apology to us then backed away from the table. Never offering to take the steak off the bill or maybe a free dessert to get back into our good graces. Our so-called server dashed back to the table sheepishly handing us the bill knowing that we were unhappy and our bill was pricey for what we received. He then left us to sit there for ten more minutes waiting to pay. There wasn't a single server in the dining area so we started to put our coats on to maybe give the hint we wanted to leave. Still nothing. I went to the bathroom, a disgusting TP covered floor soaked in piss, while my Aunts and Uncles stood at the server station waiting to pay and still NOTHING. It was then that the decision was made to just leave. On our way home the phone rang and it was the Peecock alley asking my Uncle if he was going to pay. He replied that we tried a couple of times but there wasn't anyone around to pay and due to the complete incompetence on their part, mediocre food and zero attempt to rectify the situation they didn't earn being paid. They said "ok then" and hung up. Then the Bismarck Police department called my uncle with threats of being charged with a misdemeanor level theft of property. After explaining the situation the cops completely understood and sided with us but they are not the judge or jury and would need to proceed if we didn't come back and pay. I gave this one star because the food was great. The service, on the other other hand, was dreadful. It took about 30 minutes to get our drink order and when they finally brought them out, one of the martinis tasted really weak. It was sent back and the bartender came out to our table and was extremely rude, yelling at us telling us that's how the drink is made, slamming it back on our table. I've had plenty of friends tell me they won't go there anymore due to bad experiences but this was my first. I will never go back to Peacock again. Our drink was taken off the tab but it left a bad taste in all our mouths. We went last Saturday with a party of 8 and did not have a good experience. The bloody marys were good. The food was not. My wife and I ordered steak and eggs. Both of us ordered medium rare and our steaks came medium well or more and were very much too salty and over seasoned. I ordered scrambled eggs which came way over done and browned.
