Location great! Nice to be in the sun and by the water! Food...have no idea we waited over 2 hours when initially told 20 minutes... when we questioned how much longer we were told another 25-30 minutes! We had a wrap and a burger... long story short we left with nothing!! That did offer a free appetizer on next visit 1) we live out of town and choose to spend our anniversary there .... Bad choice 2) even if we lived closer we won't choose to go back Would have been different outcome if only they would have been honest upfront how long it would be and maybe brought something to tide us over or keep a happy customer read more

My family has been here twice over the last year. The ambience is fun and nautical with it sitting alongside the river. Both times we came here the service has been extremely slow. So bank on several hours between the wait time for a table and duration of table service. The food was decent but nothing special, typical bar food. We had the fried pickles, chicken sandwich, a classic burger and the Buffalo wrap. All were good but should not have taken near as long as they did. read more

Extremely inconsistent. Lunch was good with good service and attention. Dinner was just the opposite. Soup never arrived until it showed up at the same time as the over salted dried out fish. Never again. It's also very loud with kids running around and lots of noisy games. read more

We were visiting Bismarck from AZ and came for the river view. They had fun plastic yurt/igloo things outside with heaters to dine in, but we ended up eating inside. The place was very random with decor and the food was mid. The grilled Walleye was overcooked and too salty. The bison burgers had a funny kinda sour taste and needed a sauce or something. We ended up adding the coleslaw that came as a side to the burger and it made the burger edible. Our server was very sweet and said she was new. read more

Took us quite a while to get our drinks and food. Waitress walked by us plenty of times in the hour we were there and didn't acknowledge us. My husband and I got the NYE special but were tired of waiting so long that we didn't get our desert. Which is sad because I love the river smores. We've been here plenty of times where the service was good but this time put a bad taste in our mouths. Even if she would've acknowledged us and said "hey I'll be with you when I can" that would've been better than looking right past us like we weren't there. Visited on a Wednesday night with a party of 6. They were pretty busy but we got seated inside right away. Outdoor seating had a wait. It's right in the water so the breeze and views are great. I had the salmon "trap" style and it was really good! Excellent flavor and the veggies with shrimp hit the spot. The side salad was a little skimpy but it was a side salad. There were a lot of flies though (not at all the restaurants fault of course and didn't impact my rating, but wanted people to be aware depending on the time of year). The service was good and quick. LOVE this place!! We've been for brunch and dinner, both were fantastic. Great service, great atmosphere, and delicious food. The bathroom has a little station for touch ups, they really thought of everything! The igloo experience was so fun for a date night, and toasty! Must stop for us every time we're in the area. I had the Bison burger. Literally the worst burger I've paid money for. Overdone, cold, toppings slopped together(dill in one dime size area)... I wish I took a picture. Fries were adequate. The pitcher Moscow mule was the only thing that saved the meal from being a total loss. Now there was some good... I have to say that our server did an amazing job and it was only her second day. I went there for dinner with a friend this week. I would have given this place five stars, but they were understaffed so we had to wait in line to get to the bar just to get in line for seating. It was a bit chaotic. However, once we were seated, the service and food were both fantastic. read more

Decided to stop by for lunch for my 5 year wedding anniversary. I do not eat meat, so I did research on the menu online before going there. We arrived at about 12:10 and were seated immediately with a wonderful view. I was sad to see that none of the servers or hosts were wearing masks. We were given a brunch menu, and when I asked for the regular menu we were told that lunch dosnt start until 2:30 PM!!! It was a Saturday, and I should have gotten up and left at that point but I had been looking forward to eating here. Who ever decided to not have lunch start until 2:30 is an idiot I'm sorry. The only thing in the menu I could eat for Brunch was the Krab Rangoon appetizer and a salad (they didn't have fish yet because we were hours from lunch) plain. The Krab Rangoons were the strangest I have ever had, they were filled with some sort of spicy mayo sauce (nowhere on the menu did it say it was spicy) and you could barely taste the crab let alone anything else that was in there. For the 11 dollar price tag I ate them. My salad arrived and it tasted okay, but the dressing instead of being like a vinaigrette was more like a raspberry yogurt base which was very of putting and globby. I also ordered some sort of mimosa drink which was quiet nice. My husband didn't care for his food but my mother in law had wings and she said they were very good. Unfortunately for it being a new place it didn't hit the mark for me and the 2:30 lunch menu is completely absurd. Hope you have better luck than me on my anniversary... read more

First off the food was pretty good. Reason for this post is that I understand we get snow in ND, but that doesn't mean you can't clean your snow. Having to walk through 8" of snow in the parking lot and then when you get to the concrete to go up to the door they still didn't shove it. I told them they need to shovel and the girl just dismissed it. If you are not going to clear your snow you should NOT have been open. Also you have the igloos out side in the winter, which is great, but also u need to clean the snow by the doors you go in and out so that when someone is using the door it doesn't hang open to freeze out the patrons sitting inside at the tables. read more

The servers have always been very attentive and helpful! The first time I went I had the fried chicken sandwich and fell in love. We only wanted to have a beverage and sit on the patio and watch the river traffic. We were not allowed to do that. If we took a beverage we had to sit only on these chairs that were in the sun with no table. There was probably 25% occupancy the rest was empty.. Both inside and out. I know they were short of help but this was ridiculous. We were told if we sat it at the table with our beverage we would confuse the wait staff. Not sure how that's an issue but we left and I will not be returning. read more

For my first time visiting the Paddle Trap, I was a little nervous. You want amazing food and a great experience. I had seen friends post pictures in the outdoor igloos, part of their "Polar Trap" during he winter and I always wanted to go! After recently graduating from nursing school, my boyfriend took me out to dinner and we had the best time!! The food was amazing, the staff was so kind and friendly (shout out to Matt!), and the igloos gave a very unique wintery twist to restaurant dining.
