This new version even felt faintly healthy, with pieces of green pepper thrown in. They also have Frank's hot sauce on the table. Don't even have to ask if they have it. That goes a long way in winning me over. The chef had a box of tomatoes and banana peppers from her garden she was offering everyone to take for free! The orange juice was served un chilled in a 6 oz glass for $4. It was more than enough food for two with leftovers to go. $41 though with no coffee or refills on the OJ. They don't have a dessert menu but our waitress told us the options. We got the strawberry cheesecake for dessert. When My sister went up to the bar, he said wait one minute I'll be right back. He had waited on three women who came in after us. When he came back to her and said what can I help you with, my sister proceeded to explain we had been waiting. He got defensive, and was rude. Poor service, these baby boomers won't be back. They were originally located in Manotick and were voted "CTV Ottawa's Best Sushi" and with good reason. The building used to be the old "Dirty Bird" aka KFC in town but you would never know. They renovated it so the layout and decor look lovely inside. It's clean and service is always very quick. They are very welcoming and courteous. The tables are well spaced out, so as much as I love to see what others are eating, it creates a more private/intimate experience. Now, back to the food. It is more expensive then the average but the ingredients are always fresh and expertly put together. For the take out pictures, I ordered the tofu salad ($11) and spider roll ($15). I've had numerous other rolls from their menu and they're always tasty, fresh and well made. Tofu salad - Sliced soft tofu on a bed of spring greens. Topped with sesame seeds and drizzled with a sesame dressing. The fukujinzuke (type of Japanese pickle) is a nice touch too. Spider roll - Soft shell crab, cucumber and crab meat. Tempura crumbs on the outside adds a nice texture to each bite. I also like how they put in the effort for a cute garnish - even for take out. A gari (pickled ginger) rose and a carrot and radish flower. Chef Shin truly is an expert. Worth the money if you're in town and need to get your sushi fix! You can tell they care a lot about the quality of food and the service they give their customers. They're also both very sweet and wonderful to talk to.
