    Vegetarian scramble
    Brian P.

I feel sad that I have to leave such a bad review. Because the server was very sweet and prompt. But to be perfectly honest, the food was absolutely disgusting. I ordered the vegetarian scramble. The eggs were overcooked, the potatoes were rancid, and there were very few other vegetables. The toast was stale and had gone bad. I honestly cannot recommend for anyone to eat here.

Very cute diner. We stopped for breakfast. The waitress was very warm and welcoming. The food was tasty and came out really quickly.

I was in Alex Bay for the weekend and we ate here both mornings. Nothing fancy but good home cooking. The staff is friendly, welcoming, and fast. I had the ham and cheese omelet. Good portion size, and good price. The order came out in less than 10 minutes. It was cooked just right. If I lived in the area, I would be a regular customer here.

I've been a fan of the Kountry Kottage for years. We always stop here for breakfast at least once while camping at Kring Point. Hard to believe, but under new ownership it may have actually gotten better. I always get the same thing: roast beef hash with eggs and toast. (Although I believe it used to be corned beef hash under prior ownership) Not many places do hash to my liking, but this place does it. Tender, craggy pieces of potato that crisp up just right. This new version even felt faintly healthy, with pieces of green pepper thrown in. They also have Frank's hot sauce on the table. Don't even have to ask if they have it. That goes a long way in winning me over. The chef had a box of tomatoes and banana peppers from her garden she was offering everyone to take for free! The only point against this place is they were out of the cinnamon rolls this time. Ask and those get split in half and fried on the skillet. Next time!

This is a very nice place to go eat. Keep in mind it is very loud in here. The sausage and gravy was excellent, the sausage gravy was homemade. The toast is regular bread toast so it's not very big slice wise. The eggs Benedict is simply two eggs kind of poached on a homemade English muffin portion size it seems to be small. We had several cups of coffee and the consistency was off so it seems as though the coffee was being made different each time. For the amount of food that you get this place is somewhat pricey.

Great roadside diner outside of Alex Bay! We came here looking for a hardy breakfast and were totally satisfied. As soon as we entered, we were greeted by one of the servers yelling out "welcome to Wolfe's Kountry Kottage please seat yourself!!" and we did. We were quickly attended to by another friendly server and given hot diner coffee and waters. I ordered the veggie frittata and my partner chose the roast beef hash. We ordered an extra side of home fries, which as it turned out we didn't actually need, as both our orders came with a plentiful amount of them. Our food came out quickly and it was hot and yummy! Home fries were crispy and seasoned! There were mountainous, fluffy homemade pies in a display case, and I would have certainly tried a slice if I wasn't totally stuffed after eating breakfast! Next time... I highly recommend driving a few miles out of A-Bay for this quality breakfast!! I'm sure the many locals we saw in here would agree with me.

Stopped in for a quick breakfast before we started our day exploring the area. We grabbed 2 seats at the counter and we're welcomed by a very friendly server. We observed her and the cook be so pleasant and happy to be there. I ordered a breakfast sandwich on a croissant which came with potatoes that were just crispy enough and also an order of chocolate chip pancakes everything was tasty and served fast! Definitely stopping in there next time we are up here!

I made a quick lunch stop here while on a work visit. The service was so nice! When walking in, we received a warm welcome and immediately received service. We quickly got our meals and they were delicious!! Lots of options and many specials. Good thing I live far away.... I'd be here all the time! :)

When we were seated by the host, we watched our waitress ask the host if we were her table, because she already had too many. Throughout the meal she overcompensated about how busy it was and sorry for the wait - when in reality, we were in and out in less than an hour, and we personally didn't feel any delay. The food - my husband gave his fish sandwich a 4/5 - it was a good serving size and was crispy and fresh! Everything you want in a fish sandwich. We both had French fries, crispy and fresh! The garlic bread appetizer was spectacular! Cheesy and nice marinara sauce. However, the pulled pork sandwich - ehhh. First, it was in no way a sandwich - it was pulled pork poured over a dinner roll? Not inside, and it was not enough bread to put it inside. And the barbecue sauce was not my favorite - it tasted like mustard. If my eyes were closed, I would have thought it was a brown mustard. Very weird bbq sauce. Wouldn't eat this one again. Might give them a second try next time we come in to town, as the fish sandwich was good enough to return!

One of my colleagues is from Perth and when I told her my husband and I were doing a day trip to Perth as part of our staycation, she recommended we have lunch at Fieldhouse. I love bakeries, so we followed her recommendation. The place is a lot smaller than I expected. It only has seating for 8 inside (4 tables of 2) and 4 picnic tables outside (so seating for about 16 outside). I got the Chicken and Brie sandwich ($14.75) and added a side salad for my husband and I to share ($5). My husband got the Ham and Swiss sandwich ($14.25) and we also got a cruffin ($5.25) for dessert, but ended up taking it home. Before we left my husband got an Americano to go ($3). I enjoyed my sandwich. The bread was crusty and held the ingredients of the sandwich well. The peppery arugula in the sandwich went well with the chicken and Brie. I was thrilled that the chicken was real roasted chicken breast meat (and not deli meat, lol). The aioli was flavourful but a bit excessive in quantity for my tastes. It dripped onto the plate with every bite, lol. The salad was leaf lettuce, shredded cabbage and carrots. Vegetables were fresh. I asked for the dressing on the side and it came as requested. The dressing was a creamy dressing and on the runny side. I'm glad I asked for it on the side, as I used only about a third of it. I had a bite of my husband's sandwich and it was ok, but I much preferred mine. He liked his better, so it all worked out. His was on a fluffier and softer bread. The ham was deli ham, but it tasted ok. The Swiss cheese was nippy. Service was pleasant. My husband enjoyed his Americano. We had the Brownie Cruffin at home. The pastry was flakey and delicious. The chocolate filling was like a rich chocolate pudding. It was very decadent. Overall we enjoyed our meal, but I found it a bit pricey, but I guess in today's economy, this is what you pay for sandwiches. Street parking only. (125)

The space is minimalist and gives old fashioned turn of the 20th century vibes. There's obviously a lot of pride and a commitment to local foods here. We ordered the night's cocktail special the New York Sipper -yum- the Raquette salad, two of the small (not small at all) plates that were on special that night: the creamy barley risotto and the butternut squash and mushroom parpadella. As a main course, we shared the house-made mushroom burger, savory and flavorful. Everything was fantastic, with many earthy, fresh and delicious flavors and a variety of textures. We clearly ordered too much food, since the small plates were actually full portion-size. Skipped dessert, although the special was tiramisu. They're under a lot of pressure to compete in Potsdam, but they're doing something that shows classical training and a commitment to quality. Several Finger Lakes wines on the list. Prices are astonishingly low for such an excellent meal. Note: tip is included and there were no "lighter" meats like poultry or fish on the menu. Thus the great vegetarian options, I assume.

That said, our server was very attentive and took our orders promptly. My two kids both ordered the special of the day, a short rib ramen, while my wife chose the chicken salad sandwich. I ordered their take on a French dip sandwich. The food was good overall, certainly enjoyable and well-prepared, but nothing really stood out as particularly memorable. While I appreciated the friendly service, the overall experience didn't leave a strong impression on me. It was a decent lunch, but I'm not sure I would make a point of returning on a future visit to the area.
