I bought a suspension fork part from their on-line store (bikeparts.com) and had an issue with it. I brought the whole bike in the next day, and Daniel enthusiastically jumped in and started to diagnose the problem. 10 minutes later, problem solved. He seemed *genuinely* happy to help. I noticed a few things about this visit: - As I rolled the bike into the shop, Daniel commented "nice bike". What a nice feeling to have a mechanic make a compliment on a bike brand that they don't sell. - He never even asked if I bought the part there (I did) - He didn't make me feel like I was interrupting his work - He didn't even hint at charging me for the work Regrettably, I didn't have any tip $ on me, so I stopped in the next day and dropped some cash in the tip box. We have 4 bike shops to choose from in Golden. Peak Cycles consistently provides good, friendly service. A different Golden bike shop gave me that "you-are-interrupting-me-but-I'll-reluctantly-look-at-your-bike" look when I stopped in to tighten up a cassette a few weeks back. That guy only barely registered a hint of a personality when I dropped $10 on the table for his 3 minutes of work. Peak Cycles will continue to be my go-to bike shop in Golden! read more

Just went to this place and all I needed was 1 3/16 ball bearing. They didn't have their bearings labeled by size and the guy had to use calipers to measure the bearing. Then he tried to charge $1 for a bearing, like they aren't generic bearings. I got home and the bearing is not 3/16. Measured it myself too thinking that the bearings out of my headset were smaller, nope the guy can't read calipers. These people also tried to sell me a tire for a trainer as a regular tire another time I went here. He said it was the same thing. They are not the same other than they are a tire for a bike. Like the difference between an all terrain tire and a non-studded snow tire on a car. They need to hire people that ride everyday and are actual cyclists to work as mechanics not just some college race kids that will be gone in a semester or when they switch teams... read more

Over the past several years, I have been extremely happy with Peak Cycles. I have purchased two $6500+ bikes, lots of apparel and have had both bikes serviced there many times. Something changed 6 months ago, well before COVID. The vibe has changed and they act like they are doing you a favor by working with you. They refused to price match a bike that I wanted to buy for my grandson, so I bought it at a competing shop. I had some service done on my mountain bike last month and the repair was sub par. This morning, I went there to purchase a tool. The representative opened the door a crack as if I was trying to enter a speakeasy and basically said, "What do you want?" (The rest of Golden is open for business except for Peak Cycles.) After purchasing my tool, I realized that I needed some chain lube, but I was afraid to ask because I didn't want to get chewed out! It's sad but I am now shopping for a new bike shop. read more

These guys do a great job and the service is fantastic! And if you want parts, they got parts! You can order almost anything bike related from their website and then pick it up in a day or two from the shop. So convenient. And the service is friendly, knowledgeable and helpful - no snooty attitude here... which unfortunately seems to plague many bike shops. Shop has a great location, and looks great inside. Decent selection, great if you are looking for specialized or giant products. The service is ok, nothing special. Very laid back in the shop. I think there are a lot of seasonal employees there so the advice probably is not the greatest. However, I have heard many people go there for their fitting process. There prices I think are actually pretty high for small accessories. I think they do more business online then in the store, but I could be wrong. When I first moved to Golden, I was bike shop shopping and came across some snobby ones. I found peak and they were super down to earth and helpful. I have been going in ever since, and every single time I go in, they have been nothing but warm and kind. A guy by the name of Chad (I think) took my bike in and fixed it in two days, when he was completely swomped. They are always willing to help you out in a timely manner and are really really nice! I recommend everyone to them and am now having another friend of mine switch to start going to them. Oh!! And their prices beat every other bike shop in town!! I love these guys! read more

This is based on their shipping policies. Don't bother paying for quick shipping, because they don't even bother to ship it for almost two days. I placed an order on Thursday at 4pm and they did not even ship it until Monday. When they called they said that this is explained on the website that I needed to order before 2pm two days before it ships. They clearly have not learned that they need to have quicker processing times. So, be aware that your Two day shipping is really 4 to 5 day shipping. Buy from Amazon if you can. They ship in hours after ordering express and even two day arrives the next day sometime. read more

These guys are great. My buddy and I were in town to do an event, and when we flew in a couple of days earlier the airlines managed to knock the real derailleurs on both bikes way out of alignment. We brought them over to Peak and they fixed both bikes perfectly in just a couple of mins, and charged a combined $5 for the job. Peak rocks. read more

I wanted to buy a mountain bike for my wife for our first wedding anniversary. Conner and the staff were amazing. I did a lot of research on my own but they were very accommodating in helping me choose the perfect bike. I made multiple trips to the store to ask questions and to get things "just right". They were very patient and no request seemed to big. Conner even helped me when it came time to present the bike to my wife.
