Beware if you have BCBS PPO - $371 for 1 Visit. First, let me start by sharing I enjoyed my…read moreexperience with the physical therapist, she seemed competent and I was excited to work with her. The medical insurance contracted rates however with BCBS are very high in comparison to the service provided. My first visit was $371; The office quoted $214 in advance due at the time of visit, which seemed high in comparison to physical therapy I've had in the past, but I haven't yet met my deductible. I've had physical therapy for a spinal fusion pre-and post surgery prior to this and have never been charged this amount pre-deductible. My insurance and deductible were the same between providers, so no differences otherwise to account for. At Baylor Scott & White I learned was charged for reeducation of neuromuscular for $114 after receiving the billing ledger. I had a conversation with the physical therapist about my spinal fusion, but I've had plenty education (pre & post surgery) and teach Pilates; this charge quite frankly seems like fraud. She never even demonstrated any exercises, nor did we do any exercises at the appointment. I received a printout of exercise to complete at home as I left to work on between now and my next appointment. If I truly had reeducation and required it, she would have given me more than a paper with exercises. I would suspect this is the "neuromuscular reeducation," which I would challenge should be part of the $214 visit because that is what physical therapy is. To share further insight, I had an endoscopy with a true MD Gastrointestinal doctor; the physician's bill for a this medical procedure at an outpatient center was less than my PT visit. When I called BSWI to get an understanding about the additional bill I received after paying the original $214, the woman I spoke to was incredibly kind and said she would put it for review which I sincerely appreciated. I was kind and professional to her on the phone as she investigated and sent me the billing ledger so I could review to gain a better understanding. I worked for an MD calling insurance for benefit quotes in college and later as a Big 4 auditor, so I understand the back end and in my opinion, the billing practices are unethical and take advantage of patients. It may be common for them to bill like this, but that doesn't make it right. Very disappointed in my experience here. I am going to pay my bill, but will not return nor recommend.

I jumped from one medicine to another until I had about 9 months of withdraws getting off them. Every single medication made things worse and worse. I would be having negative side effects and try to get in contact with my "Doctor" and she would take days, sometimes as long as 4 days, to get back with adjustments. The whole time I'm going crazy. I called her office with my concerns and Heather got me in the next day. I've never been treated with such kindness and care. Dr. Shisler took time to get to know me and my medical history. I felt heard and she had a lot of invaluable information for me regarding my health and the issues I was having, including explaining the lab results from the previous OB/GYN (who still hasn't gotten back to me). Regarding people's insurance hassles, I think that happens with all facilities and all insurance companies, generally speaking. Not really a bad medical issue.
