My interactions with Shawna the physical therapist and PT assistants were fantastic…read more My experience with Pittman Physical Therapy has led me to believe that they are not a financially trustworthy organization. On my first day of physical therapy, the lady at the front desk told me that she had looked up my insurance and that I hadn't met my deductible yet. I was informed that I would be charged $140 for the first visit and $100 for each of the following visit 7 visits. I was asked to sign some documentation that this billing information was correct and that I was responsible for looking up and confirming my insurance status. In the moment, this seemed wildly expensive and not correct, but I handed her my HSA card and paid for the first visit. The next day I was able to get in contact with my insurance company. They informed me that a claim had not been filed yet and that I did not have a deductible for physical therapy, but a co-pay. This information left me perplexed as it countered what I was told by the physical therapy office. I called and spoke with the front desk lady who had given me the initial wrong information. She told me that she had consulted with a generic website that showed her my insurance information. I asked her how she "knew" that my deductible was not met yet and her response deflected the question. I informed her that I did not have a deductible, but a co-pay, and again asked her about how she knew my deductible hadn't been met. She deflected again. I told her it felt like she had lied to me about my insurance information and she got very defensive saying, "I'm just a human and we all make mistakes." In my personal opinion, a mistake would have been just telling someone the wrong information, but to make up information and tell it to someone (and have greater financial gain) is frankly dishonest. At my next visit she had me sign a new financial agreement with the correct numbers on them. At my following visit, I asked the front desk lady for an itemized receipt of my first few visits (to give to my HSA). She snapped, I can't get that for you right now. However, by the time I finished the appointment she had provided me with an itemized receipt. On the day of my last visit, the front desk lady told me, "if we owe you anything, you'll get a check in the mail." A few days after my last visit I had the opportunity to leave an internal review of my experience. I was honest and fair in my review. I received a phone call that afternoon from someone within the company; he heard me out. However, before he finished the call, he asked me if there was anything he could do for me. I asked him to find out if I owed any money or was going to receive a check in return. He said he would let me know. It has now been over a month and I have not heard from Pittman physical therapy. My interactions with everyone, but the physical therapist and PT assistants, have been repeatedly unprofessional and suspicious and really make me have a hard time trusting Pittman Physical Therapy. I can't imagine I'm the only one this sort of behavior is happening with. I won't go back, nor do I recommend them.

I was able to move the first day off the table. We set up a course of treatment and 6 months later i am moving like my old self. I had also previously had a terrible experience with another doctor, among other things, and I had just about given up on being treated decently. In walks Dr. Christian and he immediately made me feel comfortable! I told him how I was feeling, and he listened. Dr. Christian went over my prognosis thoroughly and explained that I would need surgery. I was still pretty pissed off about how the OTHER doctor (if you want to call him that) had treated me, so I was not in a good headspace at all that day, but Dr. Christian understood that and made me feel so much better. He told me to let that experience go, to trust him, and I did. I DID have the surgery with Dr. Christian, and I must say everything went GREAT! It was also a very emotional day for me because my surgery day fell on the birthday of my dog that recently died, but the surgical staff understood that too, and helped dry my tears before I went into the surgery room. I would like to say I could not have asked for a better experience even if I wanted to. My post- surgical care has also been great. YES, ROTATOR CUFF SURGERY IS PAINFUL, and I HATE going to physical therapy!!!! There is no way around that, but my pain is being managed. I would recommend ANYONE who is facing rotator cuff surgery to Dr. Christian and the entire staff! By the way, I am a worker's compensation case, so please do not feel like you will be treated any less than if that's the case because I wasn't, and that's the TRUTH!!!!!!! It has been 19 months and to this day I have trouble walking, swelling, climbing steps, falling,etc. Dr. Ferguson was my surgeon and I would not recommend him. I was experiencing problems post surgery, but his assistant would not let me schedule with him. The physical therapist told me it sometimes takes a year for the swelling to go down. That is because the surgeon is not lible after a year. I have seen 3 orthopedic surgeons and they just say my knee is not infected and in place. I am not able to work like this anymore and will probably have to go on disability.

This morning my wife drove me to OrthoSouth in Bartlett for medical attention. However, I was denied care after being informed that the facility does not accept Tricare Prime as an insurance provider. When I asked if I could pay out-of-pocket, I was further informed that OrthoSouth only accepts payment through insurance and therefore could not provide treatment. I find it both appalling and deeply disrespectful that a medical institution would refuse care to a military retiree under these circumstances. In my view, every medical facility in the United States should accept the insurance provided to our veterans and military retirees. To deny service to those who have honorably served--many of whom depend on Tricare Prime--is unacceptable. In fact, staff at the front desk mentioned they had turned away another veteran earlier that same day. This experience left me with the clear impression that OrthoSouth prioritizes profit over patient care. To all military veterans and retirees: OrthoSouth is not a facility you will want to rely on for medical services. Their refusal to provide care is a disservice to the 1% of us who have dedicated our lives to serving our country.

I do tons of reading on how to keep the body young and try to remove as many toxins from my life as possible. I don't drink alcohol (very often); I eat organic, I stay away from processed foods (you know the things that most of us are trying these days). I workout and ride my bike, I do all the things we are suppose to do to stay forever young and it has worked, for the most part. I recently decided I wanted to find ways to feel the BEST I can possible feel. For me feeling great was no longer good enough. I want to feel unbelievably great. I want to wake up in the morning and think, "hell, I feel damn good today!" When people in the office ask how I'm doing, I want to respond, "it is not possible to feel any better." That's how amazing I want to feel. That's when I decided to try acupuncture. I had a couple of friends tell me to go see Dr. Ly. I had noticed significant changes in both of them, and they both attributed those changes to Dr. Ly. That was proof enough for me that it was at least worth checking out. I've now seen Dr. Ly three times, all three times I have done a "balance visit" since I don't have anything wrong with me. Since seeing Dr. Ly, I have noticed I am sleeping like a bear in the middle of hibernation at night. During the day, I have a lot more energy, and I seem to be so much more productive. THE hospital (voted Best in Memphis for a number of years) ran 'tests' to the tune of over $4, 500 and did not even find a problem much less a solution and of course a cure.
