Booked a party for my daughter a month in advance. Paid deposit. Went to the venue on day of party and it was closed. No call, no email, nothing. My daughter was crying for an hour on her 3rd birthday because we couldn't go to her birthday party. ended up at a nearby park but with no decorations, no cake or cupcake and no supplies to accommodate guests at an outdoor party. DO NOT use this for back up childcare. I booked through their online option for a holiday that I have to work (at a hospital so not flexible) and called two days before to see if I can change from 8 to 4 hours (as I had found someone to watch my kiddo for the afternoon). They told me they overbooked and my reservation was never valid (despite charging me and never alerting me of the mistake). It's totally a red flag that a company doesn't take initiative to warn their clientele well in advance of this kind of error and give parents time to re-assess. I booked this two weeks ago and no one even thought to call and tell us. I would have been scrambling if not for my family back up options. Reliable childcare is such a challenge and from a daycare I expect so much more than this. We will NEVER support this business. Being a two income household has a lot of challenges with childcare and you can't afford to trust unreliable businesses. This seemed like a godsend but it was a disaster. I will add they are going to issue refund but this definitely is not enough to get me to come back. I really enjoy Play Boutique. I take my daughter here often! The food/drink selection is really wonderful for a kids play place!! The play area is all enclosed which is really awesome even for the older kids. My only complaint would be that almost every time we go there are older kids 10+ playing VERY rough and knocking the younger kids over. Typically the staff will take care of it when you let them know- but that has been hit or miss. Overall 10/10 read more

Sweet little play spot for toddlers and kids under 8. My child loved the big bounce house and large play structure in the center of the room. We took our kiddos here for an open play session one afternoon and it was exceptional. The service is top notch. Thomas handled so much so effortlessly. He was nice to chat with and made sure to explain anything we needed. The play area is clean, open and well maintained. There is a ton of variety with a few slides and even a bounce house. The kids had a blast. Having food and drink options available is a nice touch for the adults as well. All in all, it's a great place for the adults to relax and for the kiddos to play. Ahhh. Sweet relief. It's winter break and I've been spending LOTS of time of quality time with my little person. And as much as I love it, there comes a point where I just can't handle playing anymore Duplos, or listen to Baby Shark one more time. My little creature needs to be with his own kind. With his people. Enter Play Boutique where there is an indoor play structure and jump house, and most importantly other children to take my spot in the Baby Shark tribute acapella group directed by son. Did you know there are like 13 versions of that song? If you do, I see you sister parent, I see you. You are not alone. Guess what else. The kids and parents are corralled into an area behind a gate, making you feel more secure. At least secure enough to glance though some emails without worrying the child will escape. Parking is super easy and children's dinner is reasonably priced. Sigh. It's no wonder I've spent two days in a row here. read more

There are stimulating toys for both babies and kids- a bounce house, slides, things to climb and cars to ride on, they have a jumper for babies, and so many random toys around. There are snacks and drinks as well, coffees, tea, wine, and a couple of beer choices- because, let's be honest, who doesn't need a little treat sometimes! I checked the website AND their Facebook page prior to going, both of which said they were open until 6:30. I drove 45 min with a toddler that needed to get out and run around because it was pouring rain - and had a friend meet me there - only to show up to a sign on the door that it was closed. Super frustrating! And now, over a week later, they have not replied to my Facebook message about this, which makes it more frustrating. read more

This Play Boutique pales in comparison to the newer location in Beaverton. But if you can't make it out to Beaverton, it makes for an OK place to go. Why doesn't it shine like the Beaverton location? The service is on par with the other location, but for some reason it just doesn't look or feel as clean. Maybe because it's set in an older building or maybe it's the toys that have been overly loved. And when you're a mom, it's all about being clean. Granted, they do have hand sanitizer everywhere. Maybe they should stick to large toys, so that kids aren't tempted to stick them in their mouths. That might help with the overall impression. A kid isn't likely to stick a large play ball or scooter in his/her mouth, but a kitchen set with cups and play food, you're just asking for it. My major gripe with Play Boutique holds for both locations. Their choice of large playground structure is incredibly inappropriate for the child client base that frequents their business. While it looks impressive, a sign on it say it's for 5-12 year olds. I have never seen a 12-year old play here. More often than not, the age range is 18 months-4 years old. (Outside of that range and your kids will be bored and annoyed with the little ones.) This structure is so unsafe for little kids, I spend a majority of my time spotting my 2 year old as she tries to climb up things made for a 12-year old. Maybe I'm overly worried, but while spotting, I have had to rescue other kids screaming for help, who have climbed up too high and wind up on the verge of falling down 5 feet, or trying to keep a toddler from going over a 5 foot ledge. Regardless, we will still continue to come here and every time I find myself spotting my kid or having to rescue someone else's kid, I will be quietly cursing under my breath the person who chose design over function for this play structure. read more

I'm updating my review of Play Boutique from the perspective of a mother of a now-toddler. It is true my son loved playing here - there are a zillion toys and lots of other kids to follow around. I am not sure the mix of ages playing in the large play area is always appropriate (16 month olds mixing it up with 10 year olds and up) and the large play structure is definitely not safe for any kid under the age of say, 5. If you are hoping to bring your toddler here, turn him or her loose, and relax, you are mistaken, because you will need to watch closely to make sure s/he does not break something falling off of the giant ladder/slide/playground thingie. I am not a germophobe and my kid walks/runs now so it probably doesn't matter in terms of health, but the place is frankly filthy. There are dust kitties rolling around on the floor, and they don't enforce the no-shoes rule. Actually, as far as I can tell the staff is paying no attention at all. It's kind of like bringing your kid to a public playground, except that you have to pay admission. Great idea - it would be awesome if it seemed like they cared. read more

My daughter is graduating from Peake Academy, the preschool at playboutique after being there almost 4 years. We learned about the school by playing there one day and finding out they have a preschool. She started there when she was almost 2 years old. My impressions after 4 years: Cleanliness: They clean the toys often. We've never run into an issue with cleanliness there at all. I see teachers clean all the time. Staff: The staff are excellent. They will help you with any and all questions. They are friendly and get to know you and your kids. Teachers: I can't say enough about the teachers. From the toddler class now through the pre-k, my daughter could not have had better teachers. They get your kids ready for kindergarten and beyond. The kids learn how to behave, they learn academics, they learn to socialize. They are well behaved kids after being through this school and they are ahead academically. My daughter is reading. But most of all they are good people there who care about your kids and know them well. My daughter has made really good friends. The facility has been great for them because they can play inside on rainy days and get exercise. They offer happy hour when you can drop off your kids on a weekend night and the kids will play and eat dinner while you go out on a date with your spouse or just run errands. The teachers and staff at playboutique helped raise my daughter and know her so well that we are sad to leave this place because they couldn't have done a better job. I have felt so comfortable and happy having her there, knowing she was safe and well cared for. read more

My son loves this place. For me it is in an inconvenient location, but that's not their fault. The coffee here is NOT excellent. It is true that the schedule is slightly hard to figure out, but just requires a minute or two of reading. There are not a lot of indoor spaces in Portland where your child can run around and play in a large space while you drink coffee or eat snacks and relax. We grew tired of OMSI and have been here every weekend since checking it out for the first time last month. (The smaller coffee shops where there are kids play areas are great, but not an effective means of burning energy). The bathrooms are clean. There are cubbies for your shoes. Some annoying Moms don't take their shoes off, which bothers me. Those of us who are following the sock rule might not want to get our socks dirty from the dirt/mud/dog poop/whatever you have dragged in on your Uggs. There is a corralled area where there are bikes, a "treehouse", bouncy house, play structure with a couple slides, blocks, balls, basketball hoop, train table, books and more. In this area there is some seating on the perimeter. Next to the where you pay ($5 for 2 hours of Stay and Play), and where you can order and eat food is another play area. There are some exersaucer type toys for babies, a play house, and tables for eating what might be good food, but I've never tried it. It is possible that not all of the lattes served here are horrible, but mine was. Aside from that, this place is pretty awesome. read more

Edit: the review below does not assess their preschool in any way, I have no familiarity with it. This is just about their extra curricular stuff. The schedule is a bitch to sort out. One pamphlet has times and dates, which must be cross referenced with prices and other information in another booklet. Not everything in the booklet is on the schedule pamphlet. Someone got a little crazy here. The schedule would be better if printed out by age groups instead of all jammed together. The place does not scream of cleanliness, unlike Munchkin Playland where they're running around with cleaner at all times (especially when the boss is looking). But the convenience is there and my kid loved it. I think they need afternoon open play times for preschoolers, though. My kid is nearly three and in school, and misses out on all but the Tues and Sat playtimes. Night classes for us working parents who still want to give our kids fun experiences would be awesome, this town is full of things for SAHMs to do at 10 am, but what is there for the parent at work during those hours? read more

For many different reasons I don't believe this center (for preschool and childcare) is worth your money. Pros: -Ability to drop off early or late (at a premium) -Ability to purchase lunch (also at a premium for Costco purchased "whole grain" corn dogs or chicken nuggets Cons: -Do not drop your child off even 5 minutes before class or pick up 5 minutes after or you will be charged for the full hour of care -preschool is only a couple of hours and if your child is there for extended care you have to pay extra for special classes otherwise their entire day is play -the fees for "snack" are ridiculous and I have been told by other parents they turn around and sell snacks that are purchased by parents in their cafe -their online scheduling system is absolutely awful and is often not working -they require a debit or credit card to be linked to your child's account and charge it randomly for lunches and before or after care without providing itemized receipts or monthly statements Overall- the teachers may be kind for he most part, but I will not bring my second child here at this point and would not recommend it for your child as a full day center. read more

Anyone who has kids would love the PLAY Boutique. This place has it all and more: great infant through big kids programs each week, summer camps, birthday parties, happy hours nights for parents, moms night outs with babysitting, plus my personal favorite: open playtimes and coffee breaks. They have free wi-fi, stacks of magazines, a stocked diaper changing station, TONS of great toys and pretend play items for kids of all ages, and the most important thing for any kid-friendly space in my opinion: AWESOME staff. All of their staff have degrees, most in child education or related field, and it shows. My kids love it here, and I do too! read more

Went to open play recently. My little one had a blast but for $10 a kid, I was surprised that it wasn't a little more clean. Also, I looked on their site before coming over and it had a $7 open play fee but Saturday is more I guess. I didn't see that listed on the site. We got there when it first opened. We had nothing but rudeness from the woman behind the counter. It is quite clear she doesn't like her job. The bathrooms smelled awful and the trash was filled with soiled diapers. It was obvious it was trash left over from yesterday. I know a toy area can't be kept clean but since we got there first thing, it didn't look like anything was cleaned from the day prior, picked up and organized. I also wished some of the musical toys (battery operated) had batteries in them and were working. It worked great for meeting up with some friends and like I said, my little one had a great time but I really wish the staff was a bit more friendly. read more

I had my daughter's 2nd birthday party here and I wasn't that impressed. First off, the party planner was a little difficult to get in touch with. I think she was moving or something and it was partially my fault because I kind of planned it on a whim. Either way, communication was poor. While my daughter loves the bounce house and toys, it isn't all that clean. I have no idea how often or if they wipe the equipment and toys down. There's an adorable treehouse toy for smaller babies, but I ALWAYS see an older kid dangling from it -- seems dangerous. I definitely wouldn't bring a crawler here. Anyway, I hear the Beaverton location is a lot bigger and cleaner, so I'll have to check it out at some point. read more

We actually got to play here. On a weekday but at least we got to play. Apparently most Saturdays are booked for parties and they are closed. I overheard the cashiers telling another parent this. That would be nice to note on their website. From now on i'll assume they are closed on the weekend and we'll make at point to play on weekdays. My kids LOVE this place. The have an indoor playground and so many toy choices that it's almost over whelming. They also have a bounce castle. You can order a snack or lunch to eat and if you have slightly older kids that is a place you can bring your laptop and get some work done while your kids play. When it takes 20 minutes to get your kid to leave school because all he wants to do is show you all that he has learned, it is a GREAT place. They love our little one like one of their own and that is priceless. My son has gone to school at Peake Academy since he was just over 2 years old and is now graduating from their Kindergarten class. This is the first year that they have offered a Kindergarten class at Peake Academy so my wife and I were hesitant to be the inaugural class, but I'm so thankful that we decided to stay. My son has developed tremendously at Peake Academy and the staff/teachers are absolutely fantastic. Teaching kids at a young age takes a certain type of person with the right amount of patience, and I've said many times to my wife that the teachers at Peake Academy were born to teach young children. I've never written a review before and had to sign up for an account with Yelp just to write this one, but after reading some of the other reviews and listening to parents complain about the most trivial things, I felt compelled to set the record straight. This is an unbelievable institution and I couldn't be happier with my son's progress at this school. The individual attention that each child receives is priceless and something I know my son will miss when he enters the next step in his scholastic career. My friends who's children go to other schools often comment about how far he's come in just the last year alone, and I owe the folks at Peake Academy for that. If you are looking for a great education and experience for your child I highly encourage you to look at Peake Academy. My family is so thankful that we did. read more

I am disappointed and truthfully appalled by Play Boutique- a safe zone for families with little ones. Appalled enough to write the review below: I have lived in Lake Oswego for twenty years... arguably long enough to learn, observe, and experience the stereotypes this community has to offer. Pretentiousness and snootiness to name a few (and relevant to this review). Let me also share that I am an educated professional who values community investment. I am actively involved in the realm of early childhood education as I am a member of various associations, groups and networks all the while managing admissions and enrollment for a number of child development centers in the greater Portland area. On a walk with a girlfriend, we happened to discover what we thought was a fantastic use of commercial space: a committed area for families. We were met at the door with a judgmentally pretentious and snooty woman abruptly informed us that they were closed, "um, we are closed... for a private party." Taken aback, I shared how we were checking out the place because we were impressed by the creative business venture, as another woman approached and informed us that "the windows are open" further reinforcing how unwelcomed we were. This interaction instantly reminded me of of the film, Mean Girls. On my drive home, I called my best friend (mother of a little one, an active and well connected member of this community too) to tell her what an awful initial experience I had... I was sadly surprised to hear when she told me about a similarly awful experience not only she but some of her friends with little ones had encountered. To Play Boutique- One of the many beauties of early childhood education is having the opportunity to, as you claim, "promote each child's intellectual, social, emotional and physical development." You highlight the importance of experience, "We feel children learn through the models provided by significant adults around them and by opportunities to explore, experiment, and express themselves in their world." As an educator and a true appreciator of little people, I only hope you encourage the children in your environment to not "judge a book by it's cover" because of it's ignorant path to adulthood. read more

I used to go to Play Boutique fairly regularly when my kids were toddlers when it used to cost $7 per child, which was reasonable. Last year they decided to start charging $10 per kid on Saturdays because they "are open for longer hours now". Frankly, I would never stay longer than the two hours they used to be open anyways so it makes no sense to me to have to pay more. It is definitely no longer worth $20 for my two preschoolers. The staff is MIA half the time and as another reviewer mentioned, not that friendly. And the last time we went it didn't seem very clean and the kids were bored after a half hour. I would say once your kids get to 4 or 5 there are a lot of better and much more reasonably priced indoor play options out there. read more

Fun for young kids but generally unkept, crowded, and most if not all toys are broken. Some toys do not even have the corresponding parts which make them unusable. Also they say no outside food, however they are unable to keep up with food orders with the only one attendant. The same person that checks people in has to make the food and coffee as well. Not a very good plan for a place that's always so crowded. With so many other fun options around this is always our last choice on a rainy day. read more

Cute place to play on a rainy day, but watch out for the nasty moms who are bored with their lives. I am a biracial person that took my friend's kids here to play, and before I could even say hi to anyone, they were judging me. I couldn't even breathe without these moms going to tell the man running the place on me for not doing anything wrong, and a mom proceeded to threaten me that she would "make sure that I could never come back". Real nice place you guys created where that ugly behavior is acceptable by grown women. I can't believe that man let them win. We shouldn't be letting hate ruin kids' good time. I was very disappointed with this indoor playground. The one staff member had very poor customer service skills, the toys were all broken and dirty (which made me not comfortable ordering from the food and coffee bar), and the moms were all unfriendly and had undisciplined children (I had to tell one older boy to stop trying to hit my 8 month old son right in front of me). I would not recommend this for a special place to meet moms nor as a safe place for a child to play. Very disappointed. read more

Their Lake Oswego site is CLOSED for construction, although you would think that they would put this important piece of information on their website, they did not. NEVER AGAIN! This place is DISGUSTING! $7 per child?? Please, they should be letting people in that dump for free. The space is too small, the toys look like they were purchased at a yard sale 10 years ago. Everything is dusty, grimy and worn looking. I saw multiple children putting "dust bunnies" the size of golf balls in their mouths. They claim they clean once a day, (which is insane, they should constantly be cleaning/sanitizing, it's a children's playplace), but it looks to me like they clean maybe once a week. Also, LO Mommies, maybe you should actually watch your children. I saw 3 kids get hurt, crying hysterically and no Mom in sight. Wow --- just went here today for the first time, and I've got to say: it's like Munchkin Playland on steroids! Fantastic! Although I love Munchkin Playland and some of the smaller coffee-shop style play-places (for kids and grown-ups), PLAY Boutique is great because kids have tons of space to play/run/move/jump/slide/etc. The only downside is that there isn't an onsite cafe... I think that might be in the works, however. And there's a Peets across the street where the very friendly staff will go to get you tea/coffee if you order it. The only other downside is that the seating is minimal. I was expecting a cozy couch, but ended up having the option of a stage (which was already occupied by other moms) or some plastic chairs that reminded me of elementary school. Otherwise, a great place! My son loved it. read more

If you want your child to catch whatever is going around.... Go here. I've been here multiple times and this last time is absolutely the last time I will take my son after finally narrowing down where he gets sick. I am completely aware that it is impossible to keep your child from getting sick during winter months (or anytime frankly) but Play Boutique does nothing to help it- I.e. CLEAN. As a mother of an active child, it's also impossible to keep them inside the house all day through the winter. Regarding how filthy this place is, it's no wonder it is because the staff just sits behind the counter and texts the entire time... Never once seen one gal pick up a Clorox Bleach Wipe or a diluted bottle of alcohol and clean while kids are playing- I've seen this done at Gymboree and PDX Play date.. Gymboree is known for telling parents to keep sick kids at home which parents abide by The toys don't look dirty but of course a kid is chewing on a toy and then the oblivious parent does nothing to remove the toy, or a staff member. The bounce house smells like sweat, not like cleaning solution... How hard is it to take a wipe to the place a few times a day??? Late January- my son was diagnosed with Croup two days after visiting PB. Today, two days after reluctantly going again, my son has a stomach bug and cannot keep water down. Have taken my almost 3 year olds here many times and always have had a good experience! Lots of things for them to play with and area to run around. Parents should keep in mind that it's not a daycare, and keep on top of their children (especially older ones) since the main issue I've run into is children being aggressive and no one stepping up to make sure they are playing well with the other kids.
