They have a huge covered spot for the kids to run around and play even when it's raining (and it does that from time to time here in Oregon!). I love that my kids come back and have learned new songs or poems. My 4-year old can write her name and my 2-year old knows the months of the year! They provide lots of activities, so the kids almost always have something to look forward to. Picnic days, bouncehouse, clowns, picture day, reptile man, Tumblebus, Soccer Shots... it's so much fun! The location can't be beat (tucked away) and it doesn't feel like an institution. They allow the kids to get messy (my kids play HARD at this school, which means great bedtime!) and are always doing cool/fun artwork. Not a preschool, as they claim…read more The only pro- It's a convenient location for us and the facility is in a great neighborhood with lots of playgrounds for the kids. On the exterior, it looks clean, well kept, and located on a spacious lot. The staff there is relatively friendly and seem to be interactive with the kids. Not sure if our negative experiences are due to the management but I wish I could give more positive feedback. We took our child there for over two years and its been an "ok to negative" experience. There have been a few incidents that have made us question why we didn't switch day cares sooner. When my husband or I would pick up our child, we both agreed, that the environment felt dirty. Whether it be sticky floors, stained walls and/or surfaces, or fowl smells, we stop to think about the germs that must be circulating. Our son was constantly sick, including hand foot and mouth, on multiple occasions. The food that's served to the kids (only posted on a board unless asked for a copy every month) are horrible. I'm not sure that corn dogs are a healthiest option even if you're serving it with sugared fruit or canned veggies. Some daycares serve "quick serve foods" such as corn dogs, due to lack of equipment, but blue skies has no excuses. They have a fully equipped kitchen that is capable of cooking healthier food options. For the amount that they charge, they are hesitant to provide documents. When we have requested any additional items, such as a receipt for our monthly payment, we had to ask multiple times and then told by the manager that we have to keep asking until "squeaky wheel gets the grease". No thank you. As far as communication with your teacher..there is a chart posted on the classrooms for parents to look at at the end of the day. This chart shows whether or not your child napped or ate, with check marks, however more then half the time, it's not filled out. If I ask the teacher there at the end of the day if my child ate lunch or not, they say they don't know. Really?! When we pick up our child at the end of the day, our son is always filthy. We started a habit awhile ago of not touching anything at home until we wash hands. Sometimes we take a bath before dinner, it's so bad. Kids get dirty, We understand that, but It doesn't even seem like they wipe they're noses. During our time at blue skies, the director of the facility was never present and had no communication with us. We've never been asked for feedback for improvement or approached about how our experience is with the staff or facility. We believe in some type of communication with the director of our child's preschool/daycare. Blue skies is horrible, in our opinion. I would ask what matters most to you, a nice outdoor facility or having your child engaged and lead to their highest potential. Last but not least, If you'd like your child to be included and treated like their peers, I suggest looking elsewhere. The staff is not motivated to engage and redirect children who may need extra guidance.

I did two visits to check out the facility prior to enrolling my daughter, one by myself and one with another family member, both times I felt totally comfortable and was treated warmly and professionally. I probably visited about 12 other daycares in the Tigard/Beaverton/Hillsboro area and this one checked all the boxes! Everyone is super kind and they treat the kiddos like their own. My daughter loves going here! It's not just a daycare it's like a little school and she learns so much! She's 21 months old and she has learned all these songs, words, and phrases and it blows my mind. They go outside several times a day, do art and singing time, and they have well-balanced snacks/lunch for them too. I love how I get updates throughout the day from when she had diaper changes, pictures of play time or art time, even timestamps when she starts and ends naptime. We get videos as well which is so lovely to see how our kiddo is doing during the day. They are so consistent with routine! We feel so lucky to have found Bonita and feel truly blessed that they have so many amazing teachers that really care about the happiness and well-being of the kids. They service newborns though after school care in Elementary. Our two year old comes home saying please and thank you and knowing his numbers and letters so well. They are so good with kids and teach them way more than we ever expected even from very young ages. Honest review here from a parent - they are the best and been the best decision ever to have our kids here. I see notes that they don't have locking doors - but they do! They installed them and they are very safe and I have no concerns about the doors locking and safety of the kids inside. I also see notes about dirty - and I do not feel this is true. Yes the place is not brand new, but it is absolutely clean and they do a great job cleaning toys everyday here as well to keep kids from spreading germs. They have wonderful outdoor areas for kids to play on structures and run around, ride bikes, or shoot hoops.

We were assured that she could and were encouraged to enroll. Unfortunately, our experience was very different. We repeatedly tried to contact our daughter's teacher, Françoise Coulon Lantz, to ask how we could support a beginner French learner at home. Communication did not occur until I showed up in-person requesting a meeting. During that meeting, she described our daughter as not knowing her purpose at school and acting "goofy." She then said many students had French-speaking parents, grandparents, or connections to France and asked, "What do you have?" As multilingual immigrants, this was surprising. I speak four languages and my husband speaks seven. We have never been asked to justify learning a language based on ancestry or cultural ties. We believe language education should be open to all children. Our daughter became afraid to ask questions, felt singled out at snack time, and excluded from classroom activities shared with parents in group chat. She was also expected to request restroom permission in French despite being a beginner, which often left her afraid to speak up! We also had concerning interactions with Pierre Burthey, who said families typically attend ILA due to French cultural ties or the ability to afford private school, then asked which applied to us. He also suggested our daughter might be better suited for public school. The impact on our daughter was significant. By the end of the fall term, she was anxious about attending school and often resisted going. We withdrew her. After winter break, the school created an individualized plan with other teacher replacing Françoise, and she thrived--regaining confidence and enjoying learning again. After three month, we were told by Pierre of his decision: our daughter is required to return to Françoise's class despite her distress. When we raised concerns, we felt dismissed and withdrew her that day. We are grateful to Valentin Raclot, Scott Murphy, Beatriz Ruiz, Valérie Rogers, Daour Mboup, Marc Bescond, Bayel Sarr, and Colin Labelle for their professionalism, kindness, and support. However, our overall experience at the 3rd-5th grade level was overwhelmingly negative. Families with children entering French immersion without prior experience should carefully consider whether this environment is the right fit. For our family, it was a nightmare!

It's important to note that we enrolled her in 2021. She was very shy and isolated during 2020, so a part of why we enrolled her was to get more socialization. She's a complete social butterfly and gets along well with anyone now. Like every parent, I needed to feel reassured that my kid was going to be in good hands when I send her off to preschool. It's a big milestone and quite daunting going through the process of which place to choose. We looked at 3 other places, 1 other one in town before immediately deciding to enroll our daughter. Here are my pluses: * compassionate, trustworthy, transparent, and attentive teachers/staff * BrightWheel app to give you daily updates on your kid-- including photos! * fun activities -- cute artwork * safe and enclosed with doors that are locked * across the street from the park Compassionate, trustworthy, transparent, and attentive: the teachers always greet us at pick up and tell us if our kiddo had an accident (of any kind). If she fell, we sign a paper acknowledging what happened. They've worked with us for a whole year potty training our kiddo. It was a very long process that required a lot of patience, but we finally got there just before she turned 5. They have been nothing but patient and supportive every step of the way, never pushing it. Class sizes vary due to kids on different schedules, so one day they'll have 3-7 kids and another day there will be a dozen. Every kid seems happy and engaged when I'm there. They have nap time at noon for two hours, which is very important if you're looking to enroll young toddlers. They're flexible with drop off time up until 9am and pick up before 6pm. On sunny days, they'll take the kids across the street to play at the park. You communicate using their BrightWheel app, which you get updates including photos of your kid throughout the day. I wish they had this tech when I was growing up! My daughter is sad to leave this place, but we know that if we have another kiddo in the future, we'll be back here again.
