I'd driven by many times before but never stopped in until I had some time in apex in between…read moredelivery routes. It feels like an old school filling station with the gas can lights and the cars on the wall. I took a seat at the bar, I probably was the first customer on the Wednesday. They have around two dozen beers on draft. The bartender let me try a pineapple habanero beer, though the heat was a lot stronger than the sweet. I ordered the triple All American burger with three 1/4 pound patties, cheese, comeback sauce, shredded lettuce, tomato, pickle, and I added grilled onion instead of diced onion. It came on a potato roll, always a good choice. The flavor of the burger was really good, and the burger was super messy. It's one of those that you don't dare put down because it's hard to pick back up again. Really good, maybe I'd add jalapeños next time. For my side, I went with cole slaw. It was creamy, but thankfully, not overly thick and heavy. Maybe a touch more vinegar would have helped balance it out. The Arnold Palmer was served in a plastic cup, a little unusual. The bartender did a great job keeping my beverage cups from running on empty. I would return to try a different beer and go for a burger again or even one of their chicken sandwiches. I saw I can get a triple chicken too!

Pets allowed outside upstairs or downstairs. Server was great and gave good recommendations which we appreciated. She brought fresh water out for our dog. Food was really good. We tried the bang bang tots, Carolina dog,hot chicken crispy sandwich with orzo salad and burger with the tomato cucumber feta salad. Everyone was happy with their food. We will definitely come back.

The waiter was really nice and attentive and brought everything to our table. He even noticed I didn't have a drink and offered me a cup for water. I ordered the Mookie burger on gluten free bun and this is my favorite by far. The caramelized onions compliment the cheese and sauce. They take extra precautions for the gluten free burger. I tried the sirarcha aioli sauce with the French fries and it is great for a spicy addition. I can't wait to try more of the sauces. The rosemary french fries came out fresh and hot. The rosemary is really a nice addition to the fries. This is a very casual dining experience with booths and tables. They have outdoor seating but we ate inside. We were there during a very quiet time and enjoyed our burger and milkshake.

So next time only one order of fries. Order was ready when they said it would be even though it was noon and they were busy. Staff were pleasant, polite, and respectful. It's a burger joint that recently opened and worth my future business.

Al's Burger Shack - Small open kitchen area. I'm a bit disturbed to see the can of cleaner on top of the beer fridge. That's a health violation.
