Always ordered Apex wings for their wings; pretty good; however, not sure what happened this time around. The wings come with celery- looked old with spots of brownish/yellow; my son immediately spit it out. Tried their veggie quesadilla and was very very disappointed. I came here for lunch and was sorely disappointed... the place felt a bit rundown, but I didn't care much as I was taking my order to go. I ordered a chicken Philly sandwich with a side of potato wedges. The potato wedges were super salty with loads of Old Bay seasoning, and managed to be both overcooked on the outside and undercooked in the middle. The sandwich itself wasn't bad, but there was a clump of hair in it :O And since the fries were overseasoned, when I took the order to go, it made my car smell like fries for the rest of the day. What this place did have going for it was the really good price point for the large quantity of food that they gave, which is worth a star in its own right. Apex Wings has really gone down hill. I ordered a dozen wings with ranch dressing & extra celery to go. At $21+, the price is comparatively pretty steep. When I picked them up, I asked if the extra celery was in there? They have shorted me in the past. The waitress confirmed it was in the bag. When I got home, the extra celery was not in the bag. Neither was the ranch dressing. They used to include a slice of Texas cheese toast as well. It was absent too. The wings were VERY well done. Not in a good way. Dry and tough. One of of our go to place for wings! Quick service, delicious wings, nice servers. We live in Wake Forest but we drive all the way to Apex to eat their wings. LOCATION: It's located in the back corner of shopping area but you can't really see it from the road. It's a small place but nice and it's a pub but it's family friendly. You can pick where you want to sit: at the bar, the tables near the bar, the inside booths or outside and then a waitress will come to take your order. FOOD: They serve bone-in and boneless wings, quesadillas, salads and soups, sandwiches, wraps, corn dog, burgers, and a lot more. We go there for the wings so we each order the 6 wings + 1 size. I get the boneless naked with chipotle bbq sauce on the side and fries (their beer battered fries are amazing! Specially if you dip it in the chipotle bbq sauce! Yum). My husband orders the bone-in wings with mild sauce and wedges. They also give you some celery and ranch with it. If you order the wings without the combo it will come with a toast. We ate outside. It was clearly a quick pop up outside dining area due to COVID, but it could have used a little more care and attention. The tables were dirty, the shade was limited, and there was nothing in place to ward off the flies. Our server was awesome. She was helpful, patient, and answered any and all of our questions. We ended up trying the ranch dry rub wings, hot wings, and garlic Parmesan. We also got a side of fries and tater tots. The food was finger licking good! My husband & I have eaten here twice and both times have really enjoyed our experience. This is what I think of when someone refers to a dive or hole in the wall place. It's the opposite of fancy. There's the main bar room when you walk in, and then a separate dining area to the left. It's like her personality completely matches the restaurant - in the best way possible. While I find fried food delicious, I always have to balance it with something fresh for my own pallet (and stomach) to really enjoy it. The wings, as for it's namesake, are fantastic. Perfectly cooked, the right amount of sauce, and super flavorful. The boneless wings are made in house and...wow. They almost tip the scales for me to get just those next time instead of both bone-in and boneless. I like that it comes with a large portion of celery and your choice of blue cheese or ranch. They also include a piece of bread to sop up the extra wing sauce! So yes, I like to order a salad at a wing place as well and Apex wings makes a nice one. Always great service when I go here. Shoutout to Kristin the server! I've gone here mostly on Wednesdays for Wingo, their music bingo, and it's always a great time. My partner and I got lunch here after going to a Pride parade and the food is consistently tasty. Love how well fried and sauced their wings are, love their housemade chips and their bleu cheese dip. Also, their onion rings are good too, the onion does not slide out of the batter after one bite. Also, they have local beers and brews on tap. If you're looking to support local somewhere, this is a good place to start. They have several wing flavors, I am biased to their Shearon Harris, their hot sauce plus black pepper, very flavorful. I'm told their other sauces are good. I would avoid the dry rub as the seasonings don't stick too well to the coating. Another tip: you can order all drums or all flats if you wanted. read more

I ordered take out. My meal was the 12 piece Medium Wings and also a order of Fried Mushrooms. The wings had no heat at all to it. So if you like a little spice, I'd jump it up to Hot. As far as crispness go, it's like most places, not very crispy. But not awful either. I did like the wings. I didn't care for mushrooms. Too much batter. The ranch is equal to Ranch you'd buy in the cold section at a grocery store, so not bad but not as good as I was hoping for. If I had to grade the wing compared to other places. I'd say it's better than Zaxbys, but not as good as say. Buffalo Wild Wings. But, but, but - their wings are the cheapest I've seen. 12 for $10 is a great deal these days. My friend told me Apex Wings is even better than ECW, so off we went for me to prove him wrong. And if he reads this... sorry, you're wrong. ECW has giant soft wings, Apex has smaller crispy wings. I want giant crispy wings. Both places hook you up with a variety of sauces. Wings here are way too expensive, so subtract one star. If they were giant crispy wings, I'd be more okay with the price. Shearon Harris is a local nuclear plant, but their hottest sauce is merely okay. I barely broke a sweat. I can walk around the corner from my house and find a sauce I can't handle, surely "the best wings in the Triangle" can do that? Potato wedges are pretty good but actually less crispy than the wings, which should not happen with "fries". We ordered 25 wings for $33. With this you can get 3 different flavors. Ours came out came out cold. The flavor was great but they were cold. We told the manager and she had new wings cooked and brought out immediately. They were hot. They also took half off the cost of the wings. The customer service was outstanding. The food as well.
