This brewery is located in small section in a neighborhood. I has the feeling of a neighborhood hang out. There was adequate parking and they had a food truck on the street on this Saturday. There is some outdoor seating as well as indoor. The lady working the bar was very friendly and asked if we lived nearby, what we were up to,etc... very personable. My friends and I stopped into southern peak brewery after our weightlifting meet. They have some outdoor seating in addition to the tables inside and there was a guy playing music. The tables outside are nice, but it was very windy sitting out there. They always have food trucks there and the empanada food truck looked yummy, but we decided to just stick with a couple brews. I had the peak city Pilsner and it was delicious - possibly my favorite to date. It was very refreshing and had a nice hop finish to it. Strongly recommend! read more

I just can't find any beers here that I like. The Tropikol is over-carbonated, and Feeling Brand New is kind of weak flavored for the style.

Very neighborly vibe, lots of families and dogs and game nights and food trucks... It is never calm when I go so clearly business is good... But I'm not sold on the location. I wish I lived a little closer, because this would definitely be a regular spot for us! I'm jealous of the people that live in the neighborhood right next to the brewery, and can walk to it! We went on an unseasonably warm Saturday in January so the garage doors were all up, which meant plenty of seating inside and out! They were able to quickly put the doors down when it started raining later. The bartender was very nice, he answered our questions, tried to help us find beers we would like, and poured us some tasters. I had the Kolsch and the One Mile Round (pale wheat). I enjoyed both of them! This place is very family and dog friendly. We brought our 1 year old and at least half the people in the brewery had their dogs with them. Good to note, after 8pm it becomes 21+ only. They seem to have a lot of fun events, live music, and food trucks...so check out their schedule! read more

The brewery was great !! I wish I lived in the neighborhood where it resides. So convenient. They had a pretty good assortment of brews available as was listed on their big chalk board. I always feel like the beer should cost a bit less at the brewery but that's not the case here. $5-$6 pint. The beer was decent. If you want a "very small" cup of popcorn, that's a $1. (Really !!!!!!). Next time we will bring our own snacks. We came for the hatchet throwing. Seemed like fun after having a few beers. Of course, there is the signing of the waiver........after you pay your $5 to throw 5 hatchets. It's was OK. I wouldn't do it again. The hatchets have light plastic handles and it just wasn't what I expected. It's quite a money maker. (Why didn't we think of that !!!!). We will be back to Southern Brewery. This place is large and has indoor and outdoor seating. The vibe is fun! Love the dogs and puppies! The kids there were not a bother because the parents ensured they were behaving - thank you parents! I can imagine if there had been a few more little ones running around though it could get annoying. They have TVs but they aren't the center of attention so its easy to ignore them if you choose. There were a ton of games to choose from which would be fun to do sometime. The bartenders were knowledgeable and very nice. Southern Peak Brewery is still in their soft opening so the beer selection is slim. I do not think that they were anticipating a huge crowd until the grand opening. Boyfriend and I split a flight: Belgian Golden Strong, Puffing Devil IPA and Southern Charm Ale. There are 4 beers in a flight but since they only had 3 on tap I got an extra Belgian. Here is my review of the beers: I did not care for the IPA at all. The Belgian was just okay, it had a smokey aftertaste which I did not enjoy. The Southern Charm Ale was an easy drinking cream ale and the best beer that they currently have on tap. If you like Kombucha they currently have a grape and ginger one on tap that tastes great. Once they have their grand opening I will be returning so I can try all of their beers! read more

Good beer with a kid-friendly/neighborhood community. The location of Southern Peak Brewery is perfect if you live in the neighborhood directly around the brewery, but it's a little bit of an odd location for the non-locals. You'll find a small parking lot and lots of families (and babies!) Not sure if it's a result of the Apex/neighborhood location, but this is the most family friendly brewery I've seen yet. The space itself is rather small, so cross your fingers that you'll get a seat or prepare yourself for a stand in. Most beers range upwards of $5 (if it's less than $5, it's probably not a full pour!). I was a little surprised by this because of it's neighborhood location, but you'll be paying $6 for a pint of their Puffing Devil IPA if you stop by. And out of the beer I tried, they were good, but not personally worth the trek for location and price. read more

This is a very family friendly brewery which wasn't a problem when we went this past Saturday around 4pm but I can see it being an issue if it's crowded and there's tons of kids running around. Not exactly ideal when it comes to wanting to sit back, relax and enjoy a beer but again, it wasn't really an issue at the time we went. I do love that they're dog friendly. Our waitress and bartender were super sweet and gave my pups lots of love. My dogs enjoyed having the corner bench and just watching people hanging out on the patio. Love their patio set up. Also love that they have board games galore! Just pick up your game near the bathrooms and play away. They also had a couple food trucks come by in the couple hours that we were there. Great place! They were out of the baltic porter when I visited. Now, they were totally willing to go back and bring out the last can for me, and give it a pint pour, so I give them mad props for that. But that's not the same as draft! Anyway, I love how SoPeak has a daily food truck lineup running, so instead of doing their own food and diversifying, they can keep you coming back for something different each time as well as keep more people in business. Small businesses unite! Though the selection is small, the beers are good and varied. Worth a stop, but if porters are your thing, Call. Ahead. (Apparently. Because that's their signature beer.) This was a nice enough place but not my kind of vibe. That said, I understand how other people may enjoy it for the exact reasons I didn't. The beer wasn't my favorite. I tasted three of the IPAs and just picked one but didn't love any of them. My friend liked the beer a lot though, so this was more of a personal preference. The inside and outside seating was pretty. The inside was extremely loud (and packed), so we moved outside when a table opened. Moving out of the chaotic interior improved the experience. There were many children and dogs when we were there on a Friday night. While this isn't a problem in any way, it does create a different environment. We circled the parking lot a few times to find a spot. Between the noise, all of the families, how out of the way this was for me, and the parking lot, I didn't enjoy this brewery very much. read more

Really enjoy this place. Both the owners and their staff have always remembered us and made our experience there feel personal. The staff they picked are a bit younger, but are always on point with the service. Please note, this place has a family and pet friendly neighborhood feel. If the thought of dogs and kids makes you feel uptight even after a few delicious beers you may want to find somewhere else to go. However, if you are looking for a relaxed feel good atmosphere that everyone can participate in, this is the place for you. It is very community oriented and they host all variety of social events, and it really feels like they try to give back to the neighborhood they are situated in. I have seen people here complaining about the very things I like, so hoping to set proper expectations and maybe prevent the wrong audience from even showing up. Stopped by to check out the new place in Apex. They call themselves a neighborhood brewery... I guess because they are kinda in a neighborhood (odd location). They weren't very busy and it seemed to take a lot to get the attention of one of the bartenders.. I guess I had my invisibility cloak on and didn't realize it because they couldn't seem to see me even though I was standing at the bar. Not a great first impression. They had four beers listed on the menu.. One was sold out and one was "coming soon", so getting a flight didn't seem to make sense. The IPA was okay, but certainly not a $6.50 IPA (not in Apex,NC). We are in the area quite a bit and probably won't go back. There are better options available a short distance away. read more

One of the only breweries in Raleigh Durham with Kombucha on tap which is a huge plus for me. I took a growler to go! There was also a Food truck on site but we did not get a chance to try it. Live music was nice but a bit loud for the small space. As other reviews mentioned, prices are a bit high... perhaps $1 more per item than you would expect. Not a big deal if you just stay for one drink but it doesn't encourage you to linger for more and it you're not from the area, it's hard to justify the trip. read more

Southern Peak. Located in a neighborhood, in what easily could be mistaken for an apartment building. Private lot parking. Inside is small. Small bar area, and some tables.. a few. This place was busy when I visited with nearly every table full. No food here, though a food truck was setting up while I was here. There is a small outdoor area to sit.. but too hot for my taste this time of year. AC was on, but wasnt able to cope with the large amount of people (and dogs) in this place. It was stuffy. Hard to move. I felt like a sardine in a can here. Service at the bar was slow. Ordered 1 beer just to get something. Flights available but too much confusion to order one. The beer honestly was ok. Nothing wrong with it. If I lived close by I'm sure I would be here every day. Since I dont it will take a while before I make my way back. read more

This place was awkwardly located. It's by a housing community, if you blink you could miss it. It looks like a business building. They didn't have many selections, but what they did have was good. The Porter and the lager were my favorites. Nothing was overly hoppy. They did have flights that you could do which was nice so you could have a variety and try it all. They don't have food, but the day I went Cousins Maine Lobster strolled up and they quickly gained a line. It does get quite busy, especially for it being Saturday. They allow kids, which in some cases is nice I'm sure for those who have them, but there was a large number of them and they were running around everywhere, which was a little distracting. From the Beer to the staff this place is BADASS!!!! This is a great place to bring your family or to just hang out with friends. We really enjoy the rotating food trucks that offers all types of varieties on a nightly basis over the weekends. The Puffing Devilis my favorite followed up with the Midnight Conductor. My wife enjoys the Southern Charm and my daughter can't get enough of the Gummy Bears. Hats off to SPB for offering a BADASS Venue to enjoy local craft beer. read more
