Salesman walks in sees almost new house: 20 years old with original Andersen doors. He knows we have standard size doors and that selling us custom sizes (this is what Renewal says they do) is wrong but he continues. During the sales process, we were told we needed custom-sized French doors and full frame and casing replacement. Then the measuring expert comes and says standard sizes work and we save 7%. They rip out frames and casings anyway and put in new everything including the exact same size doors as we have. Then we find our old doors fit in the new frames. Great way to treat your best customers! Horrible installation too! Doors open on their own, the door frames are visibly out of alignment, there are gaps covered with excessive caulking, and the doors are drafty unless locked. They also rattle when closed. Weatherstripping began failing within days and repairs didn't last. During installation, parts of our wired security system were removed and returned disconnected (the workman said he didn't know what they were!), leaving it non-functional. We were later told we were responsible for removing it, even though no one ever said anything and the contract dosen't mentioned it. We were told the screen doors we would get would be "way more substantial" than the screen doors we had. The new doors were the cheapest they offer and identical to our old ones. We also had personal property damaged during installation: they nailed my wife's raincoat under the casing and didn't even notice! We were sold work we did not need, were told misleading information during the sales process and got substandard workmanship. For the price charged (about $46,000), we expected much better. I would strongly recommend getting multiple quotes and asking very detailed questions before signing anything. If your contract is longer than one page run for cover!

But when I started to run low on money he started showing up less and less. What I didn't know was that the State of Maine requires contractors to create contracts for any work over $2,500. I did an initial walk through with Jason detailing what I wanted done. A contract was never signed as I was not aware that needed to happen. He left a slew of items undone. On top of that the flooring that he put in throughout 50% of my house was subpar. The ceramic tile kept "popping" and the grout kept crumbling. I have had numerous contractors come to my home to tell me that ceramic tile should have never been installed on my flooring. But Jason initially assured me that he could install. After 3 months of walking on this floor it was very clear that he didn't do good work and I agreed with the other contractors that had come in. I reached out through text message to Jason that he needed to do something about this floor and what he had left me with was unacceptable and that I thought he should use his LLC to reimburse me. Upon investigating I discovered that he didn't have a LLC which he advertises to have one online. Jason fully admitted to rushing my floor and messing it up. He scheduled a time with me to come and talk about it and I had a cousin join that was familiar with contracting and could be there to witness. Jason agreed to pay me $3700 for the floor, pull the old flooring up, and finish what he hadn't yet done. We did a walk through and he agreed on everything I had pointed out. A week later, on 8/15, when he showed up to start pulling up the floor he didn't come with a check and I asked him to bring it. Every day after that through 8/20 when I asked him for a check he flat out ignored me. He sent other workers to my house to pull up the floor and didn't even pull it all up. Jason knows that I need that money to put new flooring down as he literally took all my money. I informed him on Thursday 8/20 that if I didn't have a check by the end of the day on Friday 8/21 that I would be seeking legal recourse. To include the flooring portion and the remainder of unfinished work. He didn't answer. I have pictures of his awful work, snapshots of conversations of him admitting to rushing my floor and messing it up, and snapshots of him ignoring me asking for my check. Additionally he was doing work on my father's house which he did not complete or have me sign a contract for either. On Tuesday 8/27 he had one of his workers hand me a bill for the work that he did at my father's IN APRIL. I paid the Jason in full for the work that is still not done and my father's house remains unfinished. I'm having to start a gofundme to fix my floor and help with legal fees, I am learning home improvement techniques to finish what he started, and I am relying on family to assist me in what I cannot do on my own.

I left him a check for the remainder of the project. A mistake! When I returned two weeks later I saw that he had done some work but had only completed about 2/3 of the project. Not only that, he deviated from the plans my husband had drawn up. Before I left I made sure he was clear on the details of what we expected. The last time we saw him was in early October when roofing was delivered. Last contact via text was the first week of November. He frequently had excuses for not showing up such as, at the doctor, family member had a brain bleed, trailer was stolen, someone was holding his trailer and wouldn't give him access, etc. Asked for the return of a reasonable amount of money but have not seen a cent so I am taking him to small claims court. I hope everyone who has been ripped off by this man takes legal action. Call the sheriff's office and report it.

DO NOT USE!!!!! Tl;Dr: This guy ended a totally horrible…read moreexperience by insulting my wife's intelligence to my face who hadn't even been involved. Awful business and low quality work. I emphasize: you cannot trust their word or their work. Had only two window units replaced in my baby's room with the explicit request that they just fit an A/C unit. Said they would not fit a full size unit, but would definitely fit a small one. Cool, no problem, I'll take what I can get. Estimate was 4-6 weeks. Almost 8 weeks later and a polite follow up call from us, he's combative about it and comes days later to do the measurement again and says it will be another week. Two weeks AFTER that I call to try to just cancel and get the deposit back. He hangs up, calls back, and says the windows he claims he was waiting on have been here all along! Finally they arrive, do the work, and the very first problem is the trim (we were provided no options for) is not a little crooked, but completely crooked. They were going to leave it like that before my wife asked about it. No problem, they just ripped it out and punched a ton of new holes in the same boards making ugly trim uglier. The trim itself is just flat unprimed boards that they didn't even have the courtesy to use a dollop of wood filler on for the nail holes. Not even the courtesy to wipe all the gunk off the new windows, or wipe the caulking off of where they spilled it. And the ugly trim isn't even flush! They left a huge pile of wood shavings in the yard and driveway as if a shop vac bag got dumped on the property and just left! He can see I'm not happy upon payment and when I calmly explain why, he blames MY WIFE for not knowing anything about windows or trim! He calls her stupid! He hadn't even communicated with her beyond scheduling the time of installation! I ordered them and had been communicating the whole time! I was the one in the room with him during the second measurement when he lied about installing it next week and it was two weeks after I called to cancel. At that point do you think it would have been a good time to ask, "So we're doing the mulled window units, are you okay with a flat, square, unprimed trim?" Even then I still made excuses for him, saying luckily I know wood filler, got hands on a floor A/C unit, will tear the trim off MYSELF and put in ones I prefer, but that I simply wasn't happy with these things or with the experience and that was all. He proceeds to make excuses, blames everyone else, insults my WIFE, then says he wants to make it up to me if I ever need more work done. I asked how. Just said he wanted to make it up to me with "good work". So this ISN'T good?! A second ago there was nothing wrong with it, but next time I'll get the full treatment? How much extra is that? Make it up to me how?! By just giving you more work and money? No mention of any discount, no offer to replace the trim quickly and cost efficiently because of the mix up, nothing beyond "you should use us again and we'll provide the same kind of work on a wildly delayed timeline. Also your wife doesn't ask enough questions that she wouldn't even know to ask while managing an infant." He even kicked the wood shavings around and asked, "So...do you want me to get them to...I don't know, clean this up or....?" Yeah. Yeah that'd be nice, Mr. Business Owner. But don't worry about it. Not only do I have a broom, but I don't want you or anyone from your company anywhere near my house, wife, and kid again. The whole point of needing the A/C unit for the BABY room was to beat as much of the summer heatwave as we could. No need by the time they showed up two months later! Then he complains saying he made almost no money off of me as he's HOLDING my check for the estimate HE provided me!! I never complained about the price before or then, even though I had to save for years to do one single room, and somehow it's my fault for not giving him enough! The whole time, every interaction and every phone call he blamed me or others for the failures, including blaming my wife TWICE, and the final straw was saying this was ultimately my wife's fault when she had *literally* nothing to do with it. I don't know if we'll honestly ever afford more window units, and now whenever I look at those windows in my kids room I'll think of a horrible experience and the money I wish to God I hadn't wasted on this company. This was even a company my wife did printing work for and he knew it!! Horrible communication, subpar work, horrible delays, misleading promises, leaves a mess, insults and blames you and your FAMILY even when you don't complain or ask for any discount or apologies, just for the work to be done at SOME POINT. Surprised he didn't blame the infant for having a room the sun could reach. I repeat forever: DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY. I would NEVER trust a single word they say again.
