This food is really great and spicy! You better put on your big boy pants if you get something spicy. I ordered plantains, the chicken soup, rice and peas (beans) and the jerk pork platter. Everything rocked! Such huge chunks of pork, with the fat left on for flavor. The slaw that comes with the pork was really flavorful, like a strong pickled cabbage. The plantains are fried, but not crispy. They were oh so good. I had originally ordered the red pea soup but got a call from the restaurant because they were out to find a good substitute. Delivery - curry chicken, curry goat, both meals coming with cabbage and rice and peas, both delicious! They offer three meal sizes, small, medium and large. We both had the small and were full up! We also ordered their amazing Jamaican beef patty (the best of the three they offer, including chicken and veggies, in our opinion) . Perfect for the fridge and next day warm up. I have always been on the search for good Jamaican Food (where the OxTail is the benchmark I use). I am very happy to restate this as one of my favorite places to go. The Oxtail was perfect along with the curry goat. Of note: If you are craving Cow Foot, then you need to be aware that this is only available on certain (unscheduled) days. The service was fantastic and the portions are gargantuan! In the past I went to this same restaurant when it was located on Route-6 at a major intersection. I would go there when I had to go to one of the stores, but always second guessed at the last minute due to how busy that particular intersection can get. This was a takeout order during COVID. The yelp pickup made it very easy and convenient. Food was ready on time. I got the jerk chicken and it came with veggies,plantains and a lot of rice. Hummingbird is back! Jerk chicken literally comes off the bone no problem with a choice of rice and beans or plain white rice. People are very nice and place is so clean. Touch of class down the street was closed so came to this place. And oh my gosh the food is so cheap and good. We got jerk chicken $8 and jerk shrimp $16 with rice and peas. They give you some spicy bbq sauce on the side to go with it. Tasted even better the next day from leftovers. So we went at night and the area is a bit shady, the store is in a small strip mall. The store was quite busy unfortunately there was only one person working so the food took a while. So happy they are back...this is one of my favorite restaurants so I went into withdrawal when they closed at their former location. They have now re-opened right behind the new Peekskill firehouse; easy to find and lots of parking. I have since gotten food here several times and it's GREAT; savory rice and peas, flavorful cabbage, the jerk chicken is properly seasoned and the oxtail is fall-off-the-bone" tender and succulent. Add some of their delicious baked mac and cheese, a few beef patties and a feast awaits you. Don't forget to ask for extra jerk sauce (the "magic" extra spicy version) to enhance your culinary experience. As an added bonus, the owners are as nice as they food is flavorful. The jerk chicken was moist and flavorful. It had a nice kick to it but it wasn't overly spicy. The platter came with some rice, cabbage and maduros which were a nice sweet treat to offset the spice. There was also a sweet & spicy sauce served on the side that tasted great. I ordered the coco bread cause I've never tried it and wanted to see what that was about it was like a warm fresh dinner roll. I also ordered the beef empanada which was flavorful and had a nice flaky but sturdy crust. My only complaint is that delivery took longer than expected but I can understand how that could easily happen. read more

This place is selling Jamaican food. I am Jamaican and this is not a true representation of our food. This is my third time eating here and I can definitely say it taste worse than before. This is not what it used to be and now it is salty. I won't be buying here again but thought to write this review since delivery service now list it as closed and I was unable to eat the food that was delivered late after expected time of arrival changed twice. Good size portions. I got the curry chicken with mac and cheese and cabbage. My boyfriend got the ox-tail with peas and rice and cabbage. I liked the curry chicken and the mac and cheese was bomb. I tried my boyfriend's oxtail and wasn't a fan, but he liked it. We also got carrot cake which was super moist and delicious. Def would order from here again. read more
