Decent Asian food. Very quick delivery. Our go to for Chinese food in the area. Never been there in person.

If I could give this place ZERO STARS I would. We ordered chicken with cashews and szechuan beef and both were 90% CARROTS!!!! In the chicken dish they were diced & in the beef dish shredded. The small amount of meat & chicken had NO TASTE and were rubbery. We threw it all in the garbage. When I called to complain they said they ran out of celery! They did not even offer to make another dish. JUST STAY AWAY FROM THIS PLACE!! It is awful! read more

Took half hour to prepare my food and red curry dish was absolutely gross. Tasted like straight coconut milk and it was mostly sliced onions with weird chewy chicken. Wasn't red at all.. no curry.. no flavaa and not worth it read more

I already have a favorite local place but, this being new I had to check it out. My son ordered General Tsao's bean curd and I had an Udon noodle seafood soup. His was simply awesome looking and had a very tasty sauce. Mine had a delicious broth along with huge shrimps plus other seafood. Only very minor complaint is for eating in it'd be nice if they served on plates. While there's only a few tables it's cool to sit down and eat there. If you're looking for the place and can't find it, it's right behind Walgreens. Enjoy! read more

We live in Elmsford but travel to Thornwood just to get the best Chinese food in the area. It is family run and the owners always are hands on to make sure everything comes out right. We have ordered many menu items from Asian Gourmet several times. Each order has been fantastic. The ingredients are fresh and top quality. Any dish with prawns or shrimp are the best tasting of any Chinese restaurant in the area. They are full of flavor and not rubbery or tasteless like most Chinese establishments serve. I usually request my entrees to be made spicy. They have always made it just right; not overly spicy as to not taste all the flavors of the dish and not weak as some places will do. Please note that this is set up as a take out place. There are tables but no waiter service so you order and then sit down. This is okay for a lunch meal but not if you want to eat out as a family. read more

The pros - good eggplant in garlic sauce and chicken in garlic sauce. Nice mix of veggies in the chicken. Crab rangoon was pretty good too. The cons - General Tso's tofu was sooooo oily. My wife and I headed out for Chinese food only to find the Oriental Diner on Sawmill River Rd closed with a for rent sign in the window. Searched Yelp and found Asian Gourmet. Not exactly the same experience, AG is more of a take-out place with a few tables,but the food was excellent. We will be back. read more

I have been eating here for years but never again after today. I walked in to the most unfriendly staff that almost seemed annoyed to have my business. I got the sesame chicken combo and my chicken has multiple bones in it and was very...chewy. It was far from white meat and the rice that came with it was hard and lacked flavor. Food here is great especially the broccoli !! However my complaint is every time i order chicken & garlic sauce i only get a few pieces of chicken on top of a whole lot of broccoli. I didn't want broccoli which is why i didn't order chicken & broccoli. Another person ordered beef & broccoli and it too was all broccoli literally 3 strips of beefs. The general Tso is great! I've had food from Asian Gourmet many times and it's the best Chinese food I know of in Westchester (and I've eaten more than my fair share of Chinese takout!!). The food is always fresh and it seems they use higher quality ingredients than the typical Chinese place. The beef in my Beef and Broccoli is always lean, tender and flavorful. The closing of Oriental diner was a sad day but it gave me the opportunity to discover Asian Gourmet. It has the best Chinese food I have had in a LONG time. The family is very nice and accommodating. They are always very busy but my takeout order is always delivered promptly. My usual order is always the General Tso's bean curd, vegetable fried rice made with brown rice, and veggie dumplings. All are always good. I have also had the boneless spareribs, XO shrimp, and scallion pancake. One of the best dishes are the special Shanghai meatballs. They are out of this world. All of the dishes are always consistently wonderful. This is better than the usual takeout food. I am so happy to find this place. The only bad thing is that they are closed on Mondays. :) read more

These folks are truly not worth my time to write this, but as a FORMER customer, I find it incumbent to present my experience. I have been a customer since they opened. They are very happy to service us when business is slow or regular. Tonight they refused to deliver to my home, not the 1st time. We live within their stated 5 mile range, however they said "NO" because they were "busy". (Every business should be so lucky) . I reminded them that we order often, even at times when others do not order Chinese food, i.e. July 4th. We also referred MANY friends who order regularly and hoped they would reconsider their stance tonight. Their response was to HANG UP on me! These folks are customer vicious. I really love this place. It is not a place to sit down and eat but if you are looking for good take-out with a variety of options (espeically noodles) you should give this place a try. I love the rice noodles and if you get it with shrimp etc. they really load it up. Excellent soup and egg rolls too. I have never found the food to be greasy which is an important factor for me. Overall, I like this new spot and if I am in the mood for Asian Fusion, I will place an order with Asian Gourmet. read more

Asian Gourmet is truly a blessing. This small restaurant makes some of the best take-out Chinese food I've ever had. You'll be very hard pressed to find Chinese food--this good--outside of Manhattan. I get dinner for my entire family here almost once every week. We have so many favorites, we rarely order the same things back-to-back. Some of our favorite dishes , include: Lemon Grass Beef, Fantail Shrimp, Yaki Udon noodles, Stir-fried Shrimp (so good and crispy you can eat the entire thing!), Singapore Meatballs, Egg Rolls & Spring Rolls (the real deal)...I could keep going on, but will inevitably list the entire menu. Everything's always fresh. The seafood is always top-notch and delicious. The vegetables are always crisp and ripe. Someone obviously takes the time to make sure the ingredients are up to par before they even fire up the kitchen. This isn't greasy Americanized Chinese food; It's genuine Asian Gourmet prepared by people who obviously love good food and know what it takes to cook it. Kudos to the owners and chefs. It's a takeout place but the food is better than a typical takeout place. The dishes here very tasty, delicious, not greasy, and very clean. It's funny the name is pretty appropriate for a takeout joint the food is pretty darn gourmet. I recommend you give it a shot. I have been back twice since my last review. Tried the miso soup and the hot and sour soup. Both delicious. The Moo Shu pork was excellent. Yesterday I took out the X.O. Shrimp, the Stir-Fried Shrimp and brown rice and served it to company. Everyone raved about the food and had seconds and then thirds. So far this place looks like a gem. Every dish has been so good and prices are very reasonable. I will be coming here very often to enjoy many more choices, I am sure. FYI: closed on Sunday. read more

There's a new Asian take-out in Thornwood - YAY!!! My husband & I have ordered from here on occasion and Asian Gourmet has the BEST asian food, by far!!! They use the freshest ingredients and the presentation of the food is appetizing! The place is owned by a family & not only are they nice but will accomodate all of your requests. The last time we ordered sliced chicken with eggplant (requested spicy, which they did without a question), szechuan pork and wonton/egg drop soup. They said it would take 35 minutes to have it delivered and the doorbell rang 20 minutes later. The food is HOT and DELICIOUS! I hope this place stays in Thornwood a long time because we will be ordering from here as often as possible and will be trying different dishes. Try it, you will be very pleased!!!! read more

One of the few authentically cooked Chinese food around. I recently discovered the place and have eaten there quite a few times. Highly recommend it. Ask for the food to be cooked real Chinese style. It will be less saucy and salty. Only 4 stars because menu is too Americanized. Just had my first meal from Asian Gourmet tonight and I'm excited! Fresh, delicious food -- definitely head and shoulders above any other Chinese food in the immediate area. We moved here from Brooklyn so we have a LOT of experience with take out and what I call "real" Chinese food. Asian Gourmet is certainly a great mixture of both. Their food always tastes fresh - and not as oily as other places we've tried in Westchester. The staff is always friendly and courteous. They even remembered me the 2nd time I went in. Their prices are just a tad bit above the other local places, and the servings a tad smaller, but I feel it's worth it for the quality that we get. It has become our go-to Chinese take out spot. A fantastic addition to the area! The food is so fresh, the owners shop daily for the freshest veggies, and everything is delicious. The owner's son Carl delivered our food himself in the pouring rain and it arrived hot and everything was perfect tasty and fresh. My daughter and I popped in and decided to eat in e restaurant for our second try of the food, and again everything was extremely tasty and fresh. Eating in is not a real dining experience, just FYI, paper plates and plastic utensils, but we only had 30 minutes so it was exactly what we needed. For a take out meal or delivery, Asian Gournet is exactly what this part of westchester has needed for a very long time! Thank you to Shirley for bringing Asian Gourmet to our area!! If you like Chinese food, you would go to a Chinese restaurant not a take-out restaurant. The take-out restaurant is just serving regular Chinese food which you could try to cook for yourself at home. On the other hand, the Chinese restaurants serve you the real Chinese cuisine and specialty from the hands of professional chief. Most likely you cannot duplicate the taste you like form those chief without a period of cooking practice. The Asian Gourmet is a take-out restaurant in Thornwood, New York, but the owner was from a well known Chinese Restaurant in Elmsford. Therefore, the dishes are the quality of the formal dining restaurant. You will enjoy the Asian gourmet, and yet you pay only take-out prices. read more
