When we arrived the woman asked if we had a reservation and looked pretty annoyed there was four of us (three adults one child) without one. Which few moments later I learned you can book reservations via phone call only which makes no sense given they're so busy! If you want the full experience definitely follow the steps outlined by staff and the instruction card! If you're looking to create custom pearl pieces I highly recommend checking out the back right wall first!!! ( I wish I was told about that area first) Overall my sisters and I had fun dabbling in jewelry design! Rally up some of your gals for a cute girls' date with DIY pearl jewelry! Pick a mussel, crack it open, and hope you've gambled right for the prettiest, shiniest, or biggest pearl inside. Two hours later, we left with custom bracelets, necklaces, and surprisingly lots of leftover pearls. (Maybe buy 1 mussel at a time so you don't end up with excess.) Such a cool and fun experience! I've seen these before and tried once over a decade ago and didn't get anything and that was the end of that. The day we came we had our choice of three different types of mussels: baroque, classic, and rocky road. They tell you expected number of pearls and imo the best part is if you get NONE, you get to try again. That didn't happen with any of us. After you collect your pearls, you can also turn them into jewelry on the spot with chains and earring sets that they sell. Customer service was also phenomenal, our guy was so sweet. I went on a solo date here and had a wonderful time. The staff was patient and helpful, and they generously provided plenty of snacks throughout the store. I was initially concerned about a possible smell, but there was none at all. When you arrive, you find a seat--most of the seating is along the wall, typical of a small New York establishment. Despite the limited space, the décor was beautiful, and the setup was well-organized and comfortable. The experience begins with selecting an oyster. You can choose from two types: the *Classic* oysters ($80), which are smaller, or the *Big Bang* oysters ($120), which contain larger pearls. A sign in the store states, "What you pick is what you get," making the process even more exciting since it's all based on luck. Oysters must be purchased separately, and they were offering a 15% discount for cash payments. Once you've selected your oysters, you harvest the pearls, clean them, and then choose your jewelry. The jewelry is tarnish-free and sold separately--I picked a pair of earrings for $40. The staff assembles and packages your jewelry for you, advising you to wait 24 hours before wearing it. Any leftover pearls can be brought back later to create additional jewelry. I love supporting small businesses and I love making jewelry so this was the perfect Galentine's date. We had so much fun opening oysters and harvesting pearls. I loved all the custom jewelry that I picked out. It is a pretty dime so beware. It is also a long process, do expect some wait time (cleaning your pearls) and then coming back to pick up your jewelries. The space is very tight. I would recommend making reservations through their Instagram site. There could be heavy foot traffic or big parties, which can delay your pick up time. Other than that, we had a good time. I'd seen some videos on social media and it looked so cool. With Mother's Day coming up, I thought it would be a cool present to harvest some pearls by my hand and have a one of a kind piece made for my mom. I had so many pearls ( I counted 31!) and there were two main colors in mine- light blush and dark pink. Because I had so many pearls and they had a deal going on for April ( BOGO earrings, rings and brooches) I picked out a brooch for not only my mother but also for my sister and myself. Planned it out so I had minimal amount of loose pearls I was taking home. I could put them in a bowl or something for display but I'd rather just utilize max amount of pearls. They have a great selection. Once I checked the brooch at home a few days later, I saw that one of the pearls had come off and I reached out to the store on IG and they said to come back anytime to get it fixed which was great. read more

My friend and i came here at Sunday 11am with a reservation and enjoyed making our pearl jewelry. We both picked out the classic clam. We peeked at the colors of the pearls in the clam as I wanted pink and purple pearls and my friend wanted white. We got what we wanted and we followed the instructions to clean our pearls. Remember to take off all of the skin of the pearl to clean it. Then, we selected our jewelry pieces. I chose a necklace chain and a bracelet to use as inspiration. Choosing how to order the pearls took the longest time. I was lucky to have 31 pearls to choose from from my mollusk. Some of the necklace chains can only hold charms with the pearl on it and you can only have 10 pearls on the chain otherwise the necklace might break. The people working there are helpful with hearing your ideas and organizing your pearls for you to make your jewelry look more cohesive since the pearls come in different shapes and sizes. We took longer than expected to select our jewelry and it does take the workers a little bit of time to make the jewelry as well. Plan ahead as it took us about 2.5-3 hours total for the activity. The prices are a little expensive, but overall, I really enjoyed this activity and would recommend it if you're looking for a unique experience and jewelry. read more

Enjoyed the overall experience, but staff could have been more helpful/clear. Definitely a great idea for a date (with a partner or with friends), but be prepared to ask tons of clarifying questions and expect to wait if the place is busy. Made reservations a few days ahead via Instagram with ease. Upon arrival, we were greeted and asked to sit down. They briefly introduced us to the mussels and pricing (but not pricing of the jewelry/the other processes). They are having a November deal right now, during which all mussels are $59. After shucking our mussels and isolating our pearls, it took a while for staff to return to instruct us with the next steps. They have instructions printed out on paper but it wasn't clear. Different staff members told us slightly different things. When we were in the process of designing our jewelry - staff either answered our questions partially (sometimes with one word) then walked away, avoided eye contact, or took a long time for us to flag them down. Eventually was able to get our questions answered and jewelry set, but other parties had to wait a long time for staff to process their pearls and put together their pieces. To clarify, the prices of the jewelry are labeled individually (necklaces $40-$60, bracelets often $40, etc). You can place up to 3 pearls per jewelry pieces for free. Not sure if the dangles/hanging attachments are free because they were labeled. You also do not have to use all your pearls!!! You can come back with them to make other jewelry at another time if you wish. There is a 5% discount if you pay with cash. Your jewelry pieces are dependent on the pearls that you find. I only used 3 pearls out of 20 to make 2 necklaces, and they turned out really cute! They have complimentary boxes for your finished products, and have a wall of displays if you need ideas. You personally shuck the mussel and clean the pearls with the tools they provide for you! And the staff is super helpful with instructions and giving you tips on how to do everything! For the both of us, we chose one Classic mussel that offers 15-30 small pearls. At the table, you go through a step-by-step of the shucking and cleaning process. And then, you select from the variety of jewelry you want them to add the pearls to. For us, this took the longest because there were a lot of cute jewelry to choose from. Notes: - They do get pretty busy, so total time can take around 1.5 hours. For us, we were there a total of 40 minutes because there wasn't a wait for them to add pearls to our jewelry. - IG indicates that open at 12pm, but I think they actually open at 11am. - They offer monthly promotions. 500 DOLLARS FOR TRAsh! NOT WORTH THE PRICE! JUST GO BUY SOME REAL PEARLS AND USE THE REST OF THE MONEY FOR A NICE MEAL We went last Saturday as a fun thing to do in the city. I went with 4 other people and we picked two classic oysters. First the pearls in the oyster were all deformed. Nothing the store could have done about that as that's the experience piece of going here. We followed the instructions and organized the pearls into the order we want it in. They measured our wrist size and said that we can come back for pickup as it would take over 2 hours for them to finish. We said we'd come back Now this is where the issue happened. We ordered 5 bracelets, a necklace, and a pair of earnings. The total cost was around 500 dollars. When we went to pickup the order, they not only lost our order... but had asked us to identify which one was ours. Through the whole process they got our order wrong based on what we had told them we wanted and they even took a picture. The pearls on our bracelet didn't look like the ones that we had used, so maybe it was switched out along the way. And through all of this, we expected to be in and out but wasted another hour figuring out where our pieces were, why they weren't in the order we had specified in the picture, and to top it all off, they ask, what's your wrist size.. even though they had taken it the prior Saturday when we organized it all. Additionally, the pearls to some of our bracelets look over polished as there is a sign of a stripe through them all. The workers at the store said it was naturally like this, but when i looked back at all of my pictures, it was not there. So if you're going to go here, I'd recommend just going to do some other fun activity in the city and just use the money to buy some pearls at a jewelry store! read more

The mussels give you an awesome and unique surprise as to what they hold, and the store has a fantastic selection of jewelry pieces to set the surprises the mussels yield. I spent under 2 hours, but I also arrived with a reservation for the time of opening, so I was by myself and had no competition for space or staff assistance (they're super helpful, by the way) for a large part of my experience.
