Another great lunch at the Pearl! The menu this time was on point. Love Japanese food! Good job culinary students!

I was so stoked to get a reservation on OpenTable when I saw an article that Leeward Community College's student-run restaurant was opening again for the semester. A friend and I went in at 11:30am for an early lunch, and we were quickly seated by host Nathaniel. He was very courteous and professional. The Pearl has some beautiful views, so try to get a table near the windows, but really there are no bad seats. Server Stevie came to us quickly and gave us our menus. She was very friendly and answered all of our questions well. The food was amazing, and it's amazing that it's made by students! Every bite was delicious from the bread basket to the shrimp-artichoke salad to the grilled ahi with curry. Although the main dish and sides were great, I absolutely loved the blueberry-cream cheese biscuits. I wish I could've bought a tray of those to take home! And I just wish I could've tried more of the menu too. I will definitely be back!

Another delicious lunch at The Pearl! If you get a chance to dine at The Pearl I highly recommend going! These young chefs out do themselves every time! For $35 you get a 7 course prix fixe menu including coffee, tea or soft drinks. The portion size IMO is perfect and the presentation is appealing and everything was flavorful and delicious! We had to leave before dessert was served so they were kind enough to pack it to go.

Feeling lucky we were able to get reservations for a special menu lunch for the student chef showcase! $39 prix fixe, full of wonderful dishes made from scratch. YUM!

We had a nice time sending off one of my students at The Pearl. Our host, Raff and server, Dayden, were both super nice and professional. They gave some of the best restaurant service ever. I hope I spelled their names correctly. Food was good too.

All this beautiful food, delicious food, 2 bottomless ice teas, lavosh to start and 2 buns with the meal for $43 (tip not included). Yes, you heard correctly. I am so happy I got to make it here finally on a weekday between 11:30 - 1:30. Luckier still I got in without reservations. NOTE- if you are going to call for ressiez you may not get a live person and you will have to wait for a call back so plan appropriately. Service was pretty quick though an hour lunch break would likely be a bit too short (plan about an hour and fifteen minutes there). We just had an app and entree, no dessert. The food was wonderful and it's adorable to see the naive mistakes these inexperienced, future chefs make such as refilling our unsweetened tea with sweetened tea. They are all so sweet and you can see them trying so hard. Finally, I was told today that they now accept card. Yay for ease! I'll be back again with the whole office and I will encourage my retired parents to com often as possible to support this wonderful program and to get a great deal on some super delicious food!

The chocolate truffle. with raspberry hit the spot.

This is the 5th time having lunch here. This time it was the chef's menu with the students cooking and staffing the front of the house. A 4 course meal under $35. Student service was friendly and excellent. Each dish was tasty. I had the vegetarian Indian curry. So aromatic. The ambiance was great with window seating. I will be back for the student menu this April. We have been to the Pacific Culinary Institute in Vancouver several times and the Pearl is comparable in taste, service, and ambiance. Videos to the students and their professors.

Relaxing atmosphere and flavorful food. We were not rushed at all and service was great.

Great dining experience once again at the Leeward Community College Culinary Program! Student Menu Day with the aspiring Chefs and Front of House teams all out in view. Great kids, great food, great day! Thank you all! ‍

The only chance I can visit Scoopers is during the Summer, intercessions, or unless I try to plan my visits around Dr. appointments, so I can take off. hehe. Owner Chimienti is super nice and so hardworking, she does it all by herself, phone calls, cashier, packing foods, everything no help. Please be patient, sometimes when I call I won't get through to get my orders in, but if no answer I will try again later. Keep in mind she sells quick, during this recent visit I called about 9:30 and she said she is already all sold out! She has all different daily specials and my favorites are Thursdays when I do get my orders in it will be Thursdays. I also pick up/treat my siblings so I grab them a place too. They love it just as much, as my family loves the Scoopers plate. What a treat, my favorites are the roast turkey and mushroom chicken. If I can make it out on a Friday that's my next favorite day for the specials. OMG, eating roast turkey just takes me back to school days, the only reason I look forward was the roast turkey lunch, hehe. Also when I don't have to wait for Thanksgiving to have my turkey. The turkey plate comes with stuffing too. The portion are huge and it is for dinner & lunch the next day. I also save/freeze the turkey to make jook/congee the next week. I love the salad options and salad dressing too, Thousand Island & French- super good, they are home-made. Love the mac salad, ( one of the best I had and the bonus piece of brownie. & to sum Scoopers up I say - Wow, OMG- huge portions, affordable, ono grinds, a hidden Gem for cheap eats in Waipahu. They're located inside the Donquijote Food Court and have ample seating inside as well as outside. I went with the Wagyu burger, fries, and tossed salad, and all three were very tasty. The burger was juicy and flavorful, the fries were salty and crispy on the outside, and the tossed salad was light and the dressing paired perfectly with it. One thing to keep in mind: they make everything fresh to order, so the wait can be a little longer than your typical quick-service spot. I actually think the freshness is worth the extra time, but it's something to be aware of if you're in a hurry. Also tried the Apple Mint Mojito, which was delicious--light, refreshing, and a great complement to the burger. One tip: If you prefer your burger more well-done, definitely let them know when you order. The burger can come out on the rarer/juicier side, so communicate your preferred doneness upfront. Overall, a tasty meal with quality ingredients and a nice made-to-order feel. 5/5 stars and I'd definitely come back.

Just right beside the Don Quijote food court is a cute place called Naks Cafe as this cozy spot offers quite the extensive menu from pasta, sandwiches and various plates though it all sounds amazing the prices were quite up there as well knowing that times are tough I couldn't see myself having French toast bites for $16.85 but badly need to refuel after a long day of errands. Seeing that they had soup of the day sounded very comforting and it was Japanese Corn Soup sounded perfect it was that along with a cup of Apple Mint Mojito sounded like the perfect combo strange as it may sound but I did enjoy it. The staff was very friendly as they brought out my items to me as I waited outside at the food court not just as it's a tiny place but no air-condition at all as it was very hot and humid in there was quite concerning and hope they have a fan or something to keep them cool which the drink certainly did that for me and I really enjoyed this refreshing sip. As for the soup it was very nice and hot and had a nice light flavor it just tasted like the instant soup I get from the store it wasn't like the corn was fresh especially since it claims to be house-made I was slightly disappointed but did come with two little pieces of garlic bread which did elevate it more still couldn't save my disappointment considering it was $9.85 over $17 with my drink, it gave me the much needed comfort as I just wanted some hot soup which I was so happy to find in the convenience right beside Don Quijote food court. Thank you!
