Came here randomly on a weeknight I believe as my friend had seen it quite a bit on social media. When we arrived, we were one of a handful of people there as expected for a weeknight. The bartender who was also a server was super super friendly and helpful and patient. She was very kind to explain the menu and also about the vodka infused flavors behind the bar. We ended up ordering a couple rounds of lychee martinis as well as fried pork chops and onion rings. We weren't that hungry, but everything was super tasty and very fresh. This is conveniently located next to the bowling alley as well as other grocery stores and shops. Parking is very ample. I would definitely come back here again in the area on this part of the island and town for a bite and a good drink. read more

Few people at the bar and one table besides us and zero service whatsoever Friendly pretty girls but that's all they had going for them. I had a really frustrating experience at Eight50 Bar and won't be returning. From the start, service was off. Our waitress seemed far more focused on celebrating her birthday than actually doing her job. It showed. Orders were inconsistent and poorly handled. I ordered mozzarella sticks and chicken wings, and someone else in my party who ordered wings after me received their food first. It got worse. When the mozzarella sticks finally came out, the waitress took them to a completely different table--people who arrived after us. At that point, I had to track down another waitress just to figure out what was going on. To her credit, she stepped up, apologized, and comped both the mozzarella sticks and the chicken wings. She was the only bright spot in the whole experience. Then came the bill. It was loaded with items I never ordered. I pointed it out, and the same helpful waitress said she would fix it. She brought back a corrected bill for around $7, then later returned again with another version around $8 or $9. It seemed resolved at the time. But the next morning, I checked my bank account and saw that I was charged the full amount anyway. Between the inattentive service, incorrect food delivery, billing errors, and now being overcharged, this was a complete miss. The only reason this isn't a one-line review is because one staff member actually tried to make things right--but unfortunately, that wasn't enough to fix everything else that went wrong. Great place to wait out traffic and watch the Dodger games, NBA Playoffs or sports Dart and pool tables are a popular choice here too. It pains me to give this place just 1 star but, honestly, wouldn't go back. It was crowded on a Saturday night but we were lucky (?) to get a table for the 2 of us. There was only 1 server for the entire place!! Poor thing and poor us. We waited for our menus, drinks, food, utensils, plates, water, and our bill. We ordered fried saimin and crispy shrimp and it took 45 minutes!! She brought it to our table, then left to get our plates. My friends water tastes funny. It had a chemical taste. Weird! The food was ok, nothing special, but we ate it cause we were hungry. Dunno if this was an off night but they really should hire more servers or something because the wait time was pretty bad. It wasn't crowded, so we were happy. Open tables. I guess the regulars were at the bar cuz they didn't look too happy when we entered their "space." As we waited for the rest of our group to arrive, we made three attempts to order food. Again, it was not crowded. Luckily, we were happy for our reunion with friends, cuz I don't really know why else we stayed through the very poor service. We finally got our food albeit wrong items. We wanted bacon cheeseburgers, we just got dry cheeseburgers. The fries were SOOOO salty. Our other friends were not impressed with their food items as well. They dynamite chicken was a dud. My husband ordered Jameson. When he ordered another, the server brought him Proper 12. She said they were out of Jameson. Isn't it customary to inform the customer of a change before you pour? He doesn't like Proper 12 - he shouldn't have had to pay for that. Our server did not come to ask us if we needed refills. We were set to order rounds for the table, but she never came back. It felt like they thought we were too old to be in there. I hope they realize that an older crowd has resources to spend. We had a large group, they could've made a lot of tips. This place is more of the 25 and older crowd, which I like. It is located next to Leeward bowl. Place has a low-key feel which is sometimes nice to get away from the hussle of Honolulu. It was nice to see they offer beer and whiskey flights! They place the four-choices based on how you wrote it on their order slip. My fiance and I came here for a night cap just to enjoy the evening together. You see groups of friends arrive after 10 PM. We arrived and noticed they had live music. I learned that every fifth Friday they do live local bands. The choices of food is shared with the kitchen next door. We came from a dinner so we only got garlic fries. You get a lot for the price you pay but I was sad that they used the pre-minced garlic from the jar. Their dark craft beer on their top ten list was on point. It was a Russian stout and it had a great bite with a smooth after taste. The owner of the bar was also doing magic card tricks which made a rouse for the customers. Music of the band were from the 80s so my fiance and I enjoyed the tunes. Service from our waitress was very friendly and not pushy at all. The staff are local and not liquor snobs so you can come here wanting to try new drinks. This place is a diamond in the rough as I wouldn't have expected to find such a well-stocked whiskey bar attached to a bowling alley. Not only do they have a great variety of whiskeys, they also have an excellent selection of tequilas. The bartender and waitress checked on me and my buddies frequently enough that our glasses and bellies remained full but not so much that they were a nuisance. The menu contained a wide variety of delicious bar food; we had bao buns with pork, kal-bi, onion rings, and kalua pig nachos. All in all this is a great place to hang out, drink great whiskey, eat good food, and even get in a game or darts or pool. read more

Dropped by on a Friday afternoon, eight50 was pretty busy. As noted in other reviews, a lot of locals. The locals are friendly, a lot of aloha spirit. Good selection of whiskey, good selection of canned and bottled beers. The draft beers weren't quite as good as I hoped. After ordering a Lagunitas the bar tender recommended we avoid draft beers as they were coming out heavy on head...bummer, that is the main reason for my visit. Service was ok, nothing remarkable. I have to say this is one of the BEST whiskey bars that we've been to on the island! We were visiting from LA and was looking for a bar that carried a good selection of whiskey and we definitely found a gem!!! We frequent whiskey tastings in LA and when we sat down and looked at their menu, we were in whiskey heaven! They carried one of my favorites which is Blantons and my husband also did a whiskey flight and then some. The pupu selection was pretty good as well! They also had live music which is a plus for me when chilling at a bar. Super happy that we found this place and will now recommend it to our whiskey loving friends and family. Randomly decided to visit this place for appetizers. Hooray for free parking. Cool to watch artists' music videos in between conversations. We tried Kalua Pork Sliders. Kalua pork and sweet rolls tasted fresh; however, we didn't taste any hint of dijon aioli. Noodles tasted delicious with thin strips of luncheon meat, uzumaki and chopped scallions. However, chopped pieces of soft bacon and won bok did not complement the Wok Fried Saimin. Dynamite Chicken tasted yummy! Enjoyed sweet, salty and spicy flavors of tender, well seasoned chicken. Pretty disappointed with service. I was shocked to know that you have to go to the bar to order a drink! I came with a big party. We were seated at a table. Our waitress took our food order and when we ordered drinks she asked us to go to the bar! So confusing and inconvenient. Wanting another drink in the middle of eating ain't the business here. Food was pretty good. But the prices are a little steep for this neighborhood bar. I wanted to order the truffle fries too but they weren't on the current menu. $15 for Calamari, that surprised me. Finally got a chance to check this place out. Smaller place with decent bar area and there is a small stage with approximately five to seven tables. The beer was cold and plenty whiskey to choose from. The bartender that served me was super cool guy. That night was his first night so he was busy and I received good service. The three stars are for the noise level and the space setup. I know bars a pubs can get loud but this was next level loud. It was a loud that I had to lean in close to the bartender so he could hear my order. The space, in my opinion, restricts movement. There was a group of people next to me(7 to 10)and they were blocking the walk way to the tables. I chose to sit at the bar but, if I wanted a table, I would have to negotiate my way past the group of people blocking the pathway. TLDR If you are visiting Hawaii I would advise against this place. Definitely a locals only place based off our experience. The GPS makes it a little hard to find, tucked in a shopping center and not too intuitive where to find. Around the corner from the entrance we saw a group of people laughing and chatting and we asked them if they knew where the bar was and they either shook their head no or didn't respond. (About 30 minutes laters they came into the bar and one of the guys greeted the bartender by name). When we first sat at the bar before greeting us the bartender said "is that a beer you're drinking?" I had a Dunkin' Donuts lemonade drink. Yeah it's a little weird to go into a bar with a drink already but it's Hawaii it's very warm there and we would get thirsty. We were on our way home from Don Quijote and we thought we stopped in to check it out . Derek the bartender was awesome and was very knowledgeable about the whiskeys and the scotch. We just had lunch so we just had the fries. This place is a hidden gem in Pearl City. Good place for groups. I had a old fashion made with Basil Haydens whiskey. Smooth. Also had a Long Island ice tea which was very good. Pretty new place. Also met the GM Lee who was very informative about the upcoming events they are planning. Looking forward to that. read more

After dinner at Ya-ya's we decided to come here as we haven't been to Leewards for a while. Idk if I'm old school but I'm not even over 40s. Haha I'm sorry but service was not what we expected. (I'm saying this nicely even tho my friends rather I use other words which I don't intend to.) But it's okay they never charge for our patron shots. Good cause our fries never came so we cancelled that order and we asked about their wines and they took so long to give us any info. Haha Anyway, my friends said their drink didn't taste like there was any alcohol. Out of all the server there was only 1 that acknowledged us and check if we were okay. Another server my friends said was prolly already buzzin or drunk. I could go on with the short amount of time we've been there like about the drinks we had, but I rather not. Sadly I usually give good reviews, but I guess tonight wasn't my night. Located right next to (and actually connected) Leeward Bowl this bar is a whiskey enthusiasts dream spot. They have a wide selection of whiskey as well as other alcoholic beverages as well. We went there on a Wednesday night and a Sunday and at both times it wasn't busy. Apparently they are under new management so they don't have everything put together just yet. At that time they didn't have a menu for the drinks so they gave us a dry erase board with everything written on it for us to order. We decided to just sit at the bar instead so we could see all the whiskey available. The food menu is extensive but all seemed yummy. We ordered a pizza and tater tots, pizza was delicious! I will say it was a little unprofessional (and a little awkward) on Wednesday night while we were sitting at the bar. What looked like the owners were behind the bar with the bartender and seemed like they were scolding her. We needed to interrupt them after a while to ask for refills on a few things. Came on a Saturday with some friends and surprised that it was not as packed as the other bars around the area. The ambiance was really nice. The most recent visit, our bartended didn't know any of their specials, and another clearly looked like she had one too many drinks. Our waters were never refilled, and we had to keep asking to order drinks. Their menu changed, so my party and I only ordered fries. The fries took a while, and when it was served, no additional plates, condiments, nor napkins were given, let alone offered. After we finished our fries, we headed to the bar across the hall. Had been trying to get a group of co-workers here again. Touched base with manager Lee who was very accommodating. Definitely a nice place to hang with friends and relax. Our servers Kyra and Nikki were attentive and took great care of us. Lee had some really good suggestions for my beer selections - I let him choose and was able to try ones that I had never had before. I thought I was in the "twilight zone" last night. Wow first off we were lucky to get a 5 person seating area in the back right...I think that corner is haunted or bad fung shui or something because everything went downhill from there. We were ignored for a short time then given one food and drink menu. Maybe 20 minutes later a waitress with a bob haircut came over to let us know she will be with us in a moment. Another 15 minutes at least pass she finally came over to take our order. We tried two beers, 2 cokes, 2 whiskey shots, food: fried rice (no taste), pepperoni pizza came out cold (worse than digiorno I can make at home), dynamite chicken (some raw pieces), lechon with tomato and onions really small portion on a large plate so shame (dry over cooked and only had very few pieces of tomato and onion, no sauce or flavor) Friend got the fish and chips ( the only edible food on the table but to me the fish was smelly not very fresh) the fish look like GMO lol. We had to help ourself to extra dishes, napkins, utensils since none was brought to us. The waitress came back and smiled then said, sorry someone else will be taking over your table "I just quit!" Omg wow what the heck is happening here? So random and awkward! NO utensils, no service. Two hours later we just wanted to leave from this ruined night. There was many apologies from a Korean older lady but much too late. We won't be back, so sad. I also never get two beers apparently they were sold out. They didn't tell us that for about an hour. They did remake the chicken but we were full and did not want it at all so they took that off the bill and gave us 10 percent discount. Too late!
