Bucket of Miller Lites and darts to start the night

Great place for pau hana drinks after work. Dont like drinking in Pearl City as compated to town but this place has a great whiskey selection and a great vibe. Great place to wait out traffic and watch the Dodger games, NBA Playoffs or sports Dart and pool tables are a popular choice here too. Coworkers love this place and the prices are fair compared to other places in the area Located in Leeward Bowl, not what youd expect. Place can get packed and noisy on the weekends and late nights but the bartenders are easy on the eyes, quick and knowledgable. 4 stars

It pains me to give this place just 1 star but, honestly, wouldn't go back. It was crowded on a Saturday night but we were lucky (?) to get a table for the 2 of us. There was only 1 server for the entire place!! Poor thing and poor us. We waited for our menus, drinks, food, utensils, plates, water, and our bill. We ordered fried saimin and crispy shrimp and it took 45 minutes!! She brought it to our table, then left to get our plates. My friends water tastes funny. It had a chemical taste. Weird! The food was ok, nothing special, but we ate it cause we were hungry. Dunno if this was an off night but they really should hire more servers or something because the wait time was pretty bad. Don't think I will go back anytime soon.

This place is more of the 25 and older crowd, which I like. It is located next to Leeward bowl. Place has a low-key feel which is sometimes nice to get away from the hussle of Honolulu. It was nice to see they offer beer and whiskey flights! They place the four-choices based on how you wrote it on their order slip. My fiance and I came here for a night cap just to enjoy the evening together. You see groups of friends arrive after 10 PM. We arrived and noticed they had live music. I learned that every fifth Friday they do live local bands. The choices of food is shared with the kitchen next door. We came from a dinner so we only got garlic fries. You get a lot for the price you pay but I was sad that they used the pre-minced garlic from the jar. Their dark craft beer on their top ten list was on point. It was a Russian stout and it had a great bite with a smooth after taste. The owner of the bar was also doing magic card tricks which made a rouse for the customers. Music of the band were from the 80s so my fiance and I enjoyed the tunes. Service from our waitress was very friendly and not pushy at all. The staff are local and not liquor snobs so you can come here wanting to try new drinks. The lavendar lychee martini was something my fiance enjoyed, just the glass was weird to hold but make her feel a little boujie.

I have to say this is one of the BEST whiskey bars that we've been to on the island! We were visiting from LA and was looking for a bar that carried a good selection of whiskey and we definitely found a gem!!! We frequent whiskey tastings in LA and when we sat down and looked at their menu, we were in whiskey heaven! They carried one of my favorites which is Blantons and my husband also did a whiskey flight and then some. The pupu selection was pretty good as well! They also had live music which is a plus for me when chilling at a bar. Super happy that we found this place and will now recommend it to our whiskey loving friends and family. We'll definitely come back here on our next trip home. Mahalo to our bartender Michael who was awesome!! Cheers!

Randomly decided to visit this place for appetizers. Hooray for free parking. Cool to watch artists' music videos in between conversations. We tried Kalua Pork Sliders. Kalua pork and sweet rolls tasted fresh; however, we didn't taste any hint of dijon aioli. Noodles tasted delicious with thin strips of luncheon meat, uzumaki and chopped scallions. However, chopped pieces of soft bacon and won bok did not complement the Wok Fried Saimin. Dynamite Chicken tasted yummy! Enjoyed sweet, salty and spicy flavors of tender, well seasoned chicken. Staff was accommodating and provided great customer service.

Pretty disappointed with service. I was shocked to know that you have to go to the bar to order a drink! I came with a big party. We were seated at a table. Our waitress took our food order and when we ordered drinks she asked us to go to the bar! So confusing and inconvenient. Wanting another drink in the middle of eating ain't the business here. Food was pretty good. But the prices are a little steep for this neighborhood bar. I wanted to order the truffle fries too but they weren't on the current menu. $15 for Calamari, that surprised me. Nachos for $10 came only w salsa, cheese and sour cream. Nothing much to rave about here.

Finally got a chance to check this place out. Smaller place with decent bar area and there is a small stage with approximately five to seven tables. The beer was cold and plenty whiskey to choose from. The bartender that served me was super cool guy. That night was his first night so he was busy and I received good service. The three stars are for the noise level and the space setup. I know bars a pubs can get loud but this was next level loud. It was a loud that I had to lean in close to the bartender so he could hear my order. The space, in my opinion, restricts movement. There was a group of people next to me(7 to 10)and they were blocking the walk way to the tables. I chose to sit at the bar but, if I wanted a table, I would have to negotiate my way past the group of people blocking the pathway. Good customer service and good variety of drinks but, just not my kinda of place to frequent.

The neighborhood is vibrant, gritty, and alive--a mix of Chinese, Southeast Asian, and Native Hawaiian influences layered over historic buildings, glowing neon signs, art galleries, and hidden cocktail dens. It reminded me a bit of New Orleans: worn facades with stories to tell, creative energy around every corner, and the sense that the best experiences are often tucked behind an unassuming door. Which makes it the perfect home for EP Bar. "EP" stands for Extend Play, a fitting name for a place built around music. Long before listening bars became fashionable in Los Angeles, New York, and London, there were the jazz kissa of Japan--small cafés where people gathered not to drink or dance, but to listen. Records spun through carefully tuned sound systems while patrons sat immersed in the music. The music wasn't background noise. It was the main event. Walking into EP Bar, you can feel traces of that tradition. The room is intimate and inviting. Reservations are highly recommended because the place fills up quickly on weekend nights. Once inside, the atmosphere hits a sweet spot. The music is loud enough to create a mood and provide privacy for conversation, yet never so overpowering that it dominates the room. Loud enough to muffle the secrets being shared between old friends. Loud enough to drown out the office gossip that somehow followed everyone from the coffee machine into happy hour. The soundtrack isn't just playing--it's setting the tone. As an Old Fashioned guy, my choice was easy. I ordered a Oaxaca OF, which swaps traditional whiskey for mezcal. Smoky, balanced, and memorable, it felt like the kind of drink that rewards slow sipping between tracks. Another member of our group went with the Pho Us By Us. To nobody's surprise except perhaps her own, it tasted a little salty. Considering the ingredients--Green Chile Vodka, Sake, Pho Spice, Lemon, and Soda--it was probably the most honest cocktail description I've ever seen. The drink tasted exactly like its name suggested. That's part of the fun here. The menu doesn't hide behind clever marketing. Drinks like Thai Me Down and Candy Rain practically dare you to order them. Not every note landed perfectly. Service was a little off-beat during our visit. But like any live performance, sometimes the rhythm isn't flawless. Thankfully, the vibes, decor, music, and overall experience more than carried the set. What I appreciated most was that EP Bar doesn't feel like a gimmick. It feels like a genuine continuation of a tradition that began decades ago in Japan's listening cafés, traveled across oceans, and found a home in Honolulu's Chinatown. It's a place where music matters, conversation flows, and the pace of the evening slows down just enough to appreciate both. The place slaps for what it is--and for what it isn't. In a world increasingly filled with distractions, EP Bar invites you to do something refreshingly simple: sit down, have a great drink, listen to great music, and be present. I'll definitely be back. After all, every good record deserves another spin, and I'm curious to see how the needle lands next time.

To my surprise, on a Sunday evening after having dinner nearby at Maze, my wife and I walked over to Bar Leather Apron and we were able to get seated right away! In fact, around 7:30 p.m. when we stopped by, there was actually a ton of seating available in the bar. Who would've guessed. If you're in the same boat as me and are unable to find a reservation for your upcoming visit, I would encourage you to stop by and try a walk-in. The first page of the menu lists a wide variety of whiskey based cocktails. Most -- if not all, of the cocktails are pre-fixed with BLA (Bar Leather Apron), and represent a collaboration with the named distillery. If you're fan of whiskey, you'll definitely have a difficult time picking only one. I ultimately ordered their "Take Warning" -- 2021 BLA Knob Creek BLA Single Barrel, Cynar, Carpano Antica, Mezcal, Bergamot Salt. Drinks here are not cheap -- averaging $20 to $25 per drink. Although my drink was very spirit forward, it still felt very well balanced. I appreciated the hint of smokiness from the mezcal that rounded out the end of a sip. Service here quick and friendly. When we received the check, a cute small chocolate snack was brought over as well, borrowed from the menu at Maze. Overall, I can see why Bar Leather Apron has earned so many accolades in its field. Definitely worth a stop by if you enjoy the art of mixology.

We jokingly told Abe that the table maybe too small for all the food that we were about to order and he assured us that he would time the service so that the table wouldn't be overcrowded, to which he and the team executed well. The house fried potato chips were my favorite of the evening, as they were crispy and the aioli complimented it well. I personally would've liked more salmon on the pumpernickel dish. The beef and brioche dish was missing something as the flavors fell flat for me. And the brioche was a little too dry for my liking. There are lounge couches, high tops and picnic style tables, some indoor, some outdoor under a tent. Nice local art on walls. We loved the craft cocktails especially the Old Fashioned. The tasting board of their different blends was great too! Taco night was some darn good home cooking ! Carlitos is a family run business and you can tell they really care about the food. We had the pork tacos and the pork was amazing! The refried beans were some of the best we ever had. This distillery is fun for couples, families, and groups of friends. There are also some games around for little kids, who were hanging in the outdoor tent. Definitely worth a visit !

Second time here and I admit, the ambiance is pleasant but its effects are heavily dependent on who you're with. As a girls night out, Blind Ox is a classy spot to dish out and catch up on all the tea. Whereas, a date night - prepare for conversations under pleasant low lighting. . cheers!

The place was fairly small and we sat outside due to the large party. I would recommend going with a smaller group for the speakeasy experience. The drinks were delicious and very pricey! My drink came with a the blind ox branded golf ball which was pretty cool because you can keep it. The food smelled delicious as it was coming out. Def recommend but beware because your wallet might hurt a little!
