Thought I would try this place when a friend came to town as my regular shop couldn't get us in last minute. Not only did they separate us while doing our pedicures, one of us in one room and the other in a different room but they also had us standing in line for ten minutes, without acknowledgement of any kind. Staff kept walking past us, ignoring the fact that we were even standing there! It took me raising my voice and asking if anyone wanted to take our money before anyone said a word. I've been going to this salon for years and the past few times have been awful. The woman doing my nails did not understand anything I said and did not do a decent job. I got a full set and all the nails were crooked nor the same. The last time I went I had to go to another salon and spend more money to fix what they should have done correctly in the first place. They showed lots of attention to detail. Fresh individually pouched tools for each customer. Each clients pedi station draped with disposable liners. I have been wanting to get my nails done in auburn for awhile and off a friends recommendation decided to come in here. I brought my mom for part of her Mother's Day present and called ahead to make appointments. They got us in promptly for our appointments the only down side was that we weren't at stations right next to each other we were back to back, so we couldn't chat. That was a bummer but understandable. I had Lily (I think that was her name) at station # 7 do my nails. I haven't had fake nails in awhile and was really nervous. I told her this and that I wasn't sure if I was going to want to keep them on for long and to be gentle with the dremel. She was extremely gentle and very nice! She did everything I asked and made sure to keep double checking with me that I was comfortable and happy. She painted them exactly how I wanted, even after I picked a color that didn't come out quite right on my nails she got a new color that was what I wanted. She was awesome and I will be sure to go back and see her! My nails had the initial first day soreness but it was all gone the next day. She was seriously so gentle and careful! read more

I used to feel different about this place. I'm writing this review based on an experience I had when I went in on 2/23/2014. I was coming in to get a fill. I was asked who did my nails last and mentioned who it was and was in two weeks prior. When I asked if something was wrong. I was ignored. Then when I asked again she just snickered. I recently temporarily relocated to Auburn, and my nails needed some TLC, so my boyfriend dragged me into Pearl Nails. We entered at 5:35pm (door sign: close 6:30pm). To our left, a guy (John?) was seated with his feet propped up behind customer service desk, only 1 customer and 3 other workers sitting around. We weren't acknowledged, stood around for 5 mins before finally someone looked up or quit their conversation between them. Ok, I get it, it's nearing closing time, we all do it from time-to-time. No biggie. We were waved over to Mae, who was very nice, but spoke few english words, which was fine. As I chose color, my boyfriend ran to the bank to get cash, as this salon only takes cash, but has a convenient ATM right in front (no thank you, I'll skip the extra $7+ credit union fees lol). By 6:05pm Mae had all 9 fingers trimmed, cuticles cleaned, working on the last one (very minimal, I just needed a cleanup and paint). Another customer walked in for pedicure, leaving 2 other ladies, now huddled and chit-chatting at the front desk/register with John. My boyfriend returns, surprised I was almost done, so he looks down at his dingy fingers, asks me if I thought a cuticle cleanup would be as quick. I told him in a louder tone, since my voice does carry, "of course. If Mae got this much done in 15 mins (took 5 mins to choose color, since she couldn't tell me which they actually had and which were out lol), and they are all just hanging out until closing, I'm sure they wouldn't mind easy $." We both look over, thinking this would've prompted 1 of the 3 workers to offer some kind of service to fill their final chunk of time before closing. Nope. They continued to chit-chat in their native tongue, laughing, with 2 having their feet kicked up on the counter now. So I tell my boyfriend to go ask politely and offer to pay before even I'm done so they can close out on time. The first customer was then trying to use their ATM machine, having issues, but all 3 workers continued to talk, laugh and act like they didn't see her struggling. My boyfriend decides to offer his help to move things along, but finally 1 of the girls helps the lady. John and the other lady look at my boyfriend, annoyed, "oh, you wanna pay or what?" "yes, but I also would really appreciate a quick cleanup of my cuticles and I can pay for it now if so." seeing them squirm, look at the clock, which had 20 mins to go, i speak up, "He doesn't need paint, or anything special, just a quick trim of his cuticles. He can even soak in my dish if it would make things easier" all 3 workers, look at each-other, say a few words really low among themselves, still looking at my boyfriend, "well, we are about to close and we don't have time" I couldn't friggin' believe for the first time in my 37 yrs I had never witnessed a worker in this industry or alike opt to continue to sit on their asses for an entire hour instead of making a quick $20+ (which I also work in the customer service industry, daily dealing with challenging situations, where it's the customers happiness or sticking to the "unbend-able" rules). I asked john, "are you serious, or joking? We figured Mae here got my nails soaked and trimmed in less than 16 mins, his wouldn't take as long. You really are passing up free money?" all 3, looked stoned faced shocked I would ask them such a question, like this wasn't a salon we came to pay for services They flat out declined to perform. hahaha My boyfriend hands them $35 cash, YES, YOU READ THAT CORRECTLY, $35 for a bare minimum, soak in lukewarm water, trim cuticles, clear coat, 2 color coats & clear coat and done. I've never paid more than $25 for a manicure, but hey, when u don't feel like working or like receiving cash for your actual hard work, you gotta charge those of us stupid enough to have the audacity to expect you to work when you're obviously not trying to seem even kind of like you care about the customer. My boyfriend had pulled out $80, just in case.... but decided Mae deserved a tip, despite the experience, since she never skipped a beat to do a pretty decent job (although $40 incl tip is pushing it). John and the other chicas sat back down, kicked their feet up and chit-chatted away like it was nothing. lol We left and will never again interrupt their kick-it time. It's 6:08 on a Friday night. According to their link in yelp it says they are open until 6:30. Called see if I headed over (I'm only 5 minutes away) could they get me in for a pedicure. Was told they were closed! When I said that wasn't what yelp showed, the woman who answered tried to backtrack in what she just told me. When Pearl Nails first opened, the salon was so clean and owner and team very friendly. I recommended this shop over and over. But Now, the pedicure chairs are sticky and there are toenails on the floor being walked on. I never see anyone sweeping or cleaning up. Even the nail polish bottles are not cared for. It's as if the owner feels he no longer has to work hard at keeping clients. I'm looking for a new salon to spend my time and money at. read more

After arriving for our appointment on time, I was made to wait more than 30 minutes to be helped. My mom was helped right away and I was seated next to her and had to ask someone to fill my tub after 10 min because my feet were in an inch of cold water. Then another 20 min later someone finally helped me. No apology of making me wait 30+minutes watching my mom get her pedicure done. The service was ok but I was done shortly after my mom even though my service started much later and the man doing my nails seemed arrogant and rude. I'm not sure if he owned the store but he walked around like he did and wasn't interested in giving quality customer service. He kept speaking in another language to all the employees and laughing. I don't like to feel like I'm an inconvenience after making an appointment and paying $$$ for a mediocre service. I won't be back. read more

I am THRILLED I checked yelp and FINALLY found a great nail salon in Auburn. I'm not exaggerating when I say I have tried every Auburn nail salon in the last 13 years I've lived here and this place is by far the best. I was driving every other week to Rocklin for a pink/white fill because I couldn't find a decent place between Grass Valley and Rocklin. My nails turned out beautiful. It was a little pricy though. They charged me 15 dollars for two nails with a few rhinestones. and 40 for my acrylics. The nail salon was very clean. But the one lady who had done my nails was not experienced AT ALL. after my nails were done... for a few days my cuticles were bleeding whenever they were touched because she scrubbed them. She also did not use any tools to push my cuticles back. She used the tips of her nails. I would not go back. read more

I usually have a great experience at this nail salon but i am really disappointed in them today.i just got my nailed filled and polished the day before Halloween and they started chipping after a week, I have never had that happen before so I went back and told them that it was chipping after only a week and so they fixed it but did not tell me it was going to so much to fix their mistake. the lady told me she it was normally $25 for fixing but she gave me a discount (lol) I really didn't feel like tipping her because It was their mistake but I gave her a 3 dollar tip so I would not recommend having them fix their mistakes because I should have just waited till my three weeks was up and it would have been only 10 dollars more. Great place!! The first time I went I had someone terrible do my nails. I think she is gone now becuz I haven't seen her since . I went back and was glad I did. I have had perfect nails by Paul for 1.5 months now. I have peeked at everyone else's nails who also look amazing ( I am a complete nail snob ). Definately worth it. I had a god awful experience at this place. I got a manicure and pedicure. The pedicure was fine. Things went down hill during the manicure. I had a injured finger nail which I was very vocal about that I didn't want him to touch, because it was Very painful. He proceeded to mess with it twice, making me feel a lot of pain. He never apologized and didn't seem to care. We made small talk just simple conversation. He started hitting on me and asked to go on a date another time. It was completely unprofessional and made me in comfortable. During the pedicure the nail polish didn't dry all the way, and he smeared three nails while testing them out. Pearl Nails is AWESOME. Most importantly, they are CLEAN CLEAN CLEAN. their utensils come straight out of sterile packages and they have covers in their pedicure tubs. really love this salon. i'm extremely picky about my gel manicures and they've hit it right on every time i've walked in. have had about 5 mani's at this point. smooth finish. have never had one fail. they also are careful with the removal. some salons scrape so hard that it feels like they damage the nail. here they're careful and quite professional. also they've got a HUGE selection of colors and the products they use feel top notch. the place is elegant and relaxed. it's a pleasure to be there. customer service is good. although i don't live in auburn, i make a point of stopping here whenever i find myself in the area. i've also had very good pedicures here. read more

I havent been here in a while because I work in Roseville and its most convenient to get my nails done right after work. However I have not been to a better nail salon than Pearls since switching to Roseville locations. The service here is very good. They do an excellent job paying attention to detail, most other places I go to always seem to leave big gaps on the sides of each nail, at Pearls they do not. The polish stays on much longer than what I've experience elsewhere. No peeling what so ever. Each time I've gone here I only needed to redo my nails because they got too long for my liking.
