Our first time at this restaurant, it's a cute little place with about 20 tables. Service was attentive and we sat just a few minutes before drinks were asked about. There are a few beer selections and a few cocktails, offering also Thai style ice tea and coffee. My husband and I had a great experience for our first visit to Pearl of Siam! The restaurant was busy on a Friday night, but we were seated warmly and promptly. The restaurant isn't large, but it has quite a few tables. The service was very friendly and the restaurant seems to be family-owned and operated. We ordered the crab cheese wontons (a little overdone, but fresh and had delicious, real crab), pad Thai (delicious-some of the best I have had), and yellow curry (good with a nice surprise of pineapples). The prices were very reasonable especially considering we had some leftovers to take home too. The only disappointing factor was no free refills-but I appreciated the canned Diet Coke. For $12.95, each special comes with your choice of chicken, beef, pork, or tofu on six different dishes (including pad Thai or green/red curry). Also included in this plentiful portion is a crispy eggroll. Food is made to order, so if you don't call ahead, there are a few chairs at the front of the restaurant where you can wait. Just found my new favorite Thai joint in Aurora! Located right next door to Safeway, this cozy hole-in-the-wall mom-and-pop shop has authentic flavors, great prices, kind staff, and an intimate feel. I came right when the restaurant opened on a Thursday around 11:30am after doing some grocery shopping next door. The restaurant started to fill up pretty quickly and it's easy to see why. They of course have their classic menu. However, I think the lunch menu is a pretty good deal and bang-for-your-buck. I ordered the Green Curry with Beef (the lunch combo comes with a side of rice and an egg roll) and the Papaya Salad. You have the option to indicate spice levels 1 to 6, with 6 being the spiciest. Pearl of Siam is the best restaurant in Aurora and i'm not kidding. The food here is always on point. This place is always packed for good reason. I've had their pad thai before and it was very delicious. My favorite dish is their green curry, it has great flavor and a little spice that creeps up on you. I enjoy the tofu and the green curry has a variety of different vegetables. The Thai Tea is also so sweet and creamy. It's really nice to help when your mouth is on fire! The restaurant is pretty nice inside and they keep it pretty clean. It is in a plaza, so the restaurant gets kind of packed in and crowded, but overall it's very cozy on a cold day. THE BLACK AND WHITE: I had to get back to the house and ordered thai to go. The dishes included green curry and pad Thai. The pad Thai was great and had all the flavors of a delicious pad Thai. I do wish there was more noodles for the pad Thai. For the green curry, it was good, but it didn't resemble real green curry, the flavors were a little off and they used regular purple eggplant instead of the circular green thai eggplants. Service was fast and the lady on the phone was very nice. THE FINAL BAMBOO: Overall the damage done here for to-go was around $24 for two dishes. A packed restaurant is a good restaurant. What if it's packed all the time? Then it must be stellar! This place is no exception and it shows. Everything from food, service and ambiance are great in so many respects. I went with my regular drunken noodles with beef. This is one place where eating at the restaurant is the experience that will elevate the food and vice versa. Perfect heat, perfect spice and perfect presentation. It's a small quaint place but of the bat was greated by a kind man with a wonderful smile . He told us where we could sit and although it was 5pm a few tables where open but once we sat down the lines started forming. Figured this place would be awesome from thr reviews, and it is! Had the fermented sausage and egg rolls as the apps. The flavors on the sausage with the provided veggies was superb. (Particularly with the ginger(?), which really paired well, and I'm not generally a big ginger fan.) The Royal with tofu and massaman with beef for mains. All were super tasty and I wouldn't change a thing except I'd happily take more, although portions were certainly fair, that's just me being gluttonous. (Got the heat level 3, which was not really hot, I think I'd get level 4 next time, but not advocating jumping *two* heat levels all at once at a Thai spot!!) Prices were reasonable: dinner for two with two mains, two (NA) drinks, two apps, totaled $57 before tip. Owner and wait staff were attentive even with a quickly turning over full house. Place appeared to be immaculately cleaned while being as warm and welcoming as any strip mall has ever been. Typical Aurora crowd of families and couples throughout. We stopped in for lunch about a month ago, we both loved our food and planned to go back again... The service was quick and friendly. I always order the iced coffee, a hot green tea and a water with no ice to drink with my meal... I know that can be a bit much but I wanted to taste it all. The server didn't flinch at my order and asked if she could bring anything else. We were in during lunch service, it was about half full and the wait from ordering to eating was only about 15 minutes, faster than we expected. The place was clean and quaint. I was surprised at how comfortable it was for a store front restaurant, they have done really well with designing their space. But HERE is the problem: We then I found out they deliver to our home and that is where the trouble started. This spot is now our go-to for any and all nights we order in, plus a few extra nights when I am just having a craving. :) It's becoming a weekly habit and I don't think we are going to be breaking it anytime soon. Even the kids love it now. I have worked my way through a few of the curry's and they have all been yummy. I love everything on the appetizer list, especially the dumplings. Just know that if you think you can handle HOT and spicy, its hotter and spicier here than most places in the area, if not all. Don't be a hero and ruin all the amazing flavors. The lunch specials include fried rice, pad Thai, pad see ewe, red or green curry, Siamese, ginger, and Siamese royal. The lunch special is served from 11 AM to 2:30 PM Tuesday through Friday and served with an eggroll and choice of chicken, beef, pork or tofu. The shrimp is available for an extra $4 and Seafood for an extra $8. The lunch special is $12.95 with a very generous portion. There is ample parking in the shopping center and the restaurant seats about 10-12 tables of 2-6 seats. This family owned Thai restaurant is a local favorite and also has been recognized for a City of Aurora - Business Advisory Board Small Business Award.
