Stopped in @ noon open on Sunday. Being the first & only one at the bar for a bit I had a chance to chat up the friendly beertender Jenna. She helped me build a flight and gave me two samples of beers that piqued my interest... Spruce-A-Lool and Shitty Lyte Beer. Of the five bees I tasted... all were wonderfully delicious. As I exclaimed about the Spruce-A-Lootel "it's not offensive like I assumed and was pleasantly palatable". The Shitty Lyte beer I expected to taste like a regular domestic... had a little..something to it, I can't describe it, but a little punch. Jenna was attentive and funny my whole visit despite the bar filling up w customers. All the customers were equally as funny as we all talked and joked. Don't skip past Pearl Street and your directions are correct when it reads to take a left in to what looks like an apartment parking lot... you go the short distance past that to Pearl Street. I liked that the brewery really covered your palate with light to hoppy to malty and flavorful. I really enjoyed the Siberian Disco Toasted Stout and Java Lava Coffee Stout. I also enjoyed my Old Fashioned, they have a menu of cocktails as well. I definitely won't be waiting another four years for my third stop in to Pearl Street. Down home, authentically genuine to themselves, brewery! We really enjoyed the open, transparent feel of the place, very easy to hang out and relax in! The beers are unique and all so different. We enjoyed a couple flights first to get the full range then enjoyed a nice cold glass of our favorite. My favorite just happened to be the Shitty Lyte, for a lite beer it's got some flavor and is very easy to drink! The stouts are super smooth and the sour won't leave you disappointed if you like a good sour! Our server was absolutely lovely! Her welcoming greeting, smile and knowledge of the history of the building and the beer were perfect after a hot day in the sun! She also recommended Buzzard Billy's for dinner and it just so happened I had the best meal of my life there so definitely take her recommendations!! read more

" Great Tasty Tour " We were lucky to be in La Crosse WI. on a Saturday because we were able to take a quick short tour of the Pearl Street Brewery. The Brewery had a great flavor smell to it when we entered the building. We toured the Brewery, and watched how they produce the Beer. The tour guide was very good as he gave us the history behind the Brewery, and the varieties of Beer types they have. We then got to taste several Beer types from the friendly Bar tenders. All around great experience. A friend and I had a ton of fun here trying new beers, listening to the band playing, and playing shuffle board. It looked like there was even an arcade in the back, but we didn't check it out. The flights here are huge! So be prepared. The selection is pretty extensive, so if your looking for particular types of beer they likely have it. The Pale Ale and Brown Ale are a favorite, but the others are definitely worth a try. read more

Great brewery tour ! Lots of parking in its own lot . Tours are Friday's at 5 and 6 pm and they do some on Saturdays as well . You just go up to the bartender when you get there and tell them you want to do the brewery tour . It's $8 for the tour which includes a glass with the breweries logo , a sticker and a card to take to the local bars for a BOGO beer offer . Tour is about a hour long . They offer flights of beer for $7.00 You can go and just drink the beer here as well . They sell cases of the beer you can take with you . 4 Reasons to Visit the Pearl Street Brewery: 1) Yummy fresh drinkable beers. Brown Ale, Pale ale, Hefeweizen, Oat Stout, and a new seasonal brew almost every month of the year. 2) This place is the Real Deal: Unlike many "microbreweries" these days that contract out 99% of their brewing (I'm talking to you Sam Adams, Brooklyn Brewery, etc), PSB actually brews ALL of their beer themselves, on-site. 3) Tasting Room: PSB has a bar set up inside their brewery, where they serve their beers for $2.50 a pint. Open Tuesday through Friday 4-8pm, and Saturdays 12-5pm. (On Fridays, they have live music too). 4) Brewery Tours: On Saturdays 12pm - 5pm, you can go on a tour of PSB's brewery. It's educational and interesting because, like I said, Pearl Street is a real operating brewery, that does things the old-fashioned way. (Their bottling line, for instance, is shockingly medieval.) Overall, a great place to spend an evening, or a Saturday afternoon. One word of caution: Pearl Street Brewery ain't on Pearl Street anymore; hasn't been for years. Cheap tickets took Ms T and me to LaCrosse for a few days. We decided to sample the local brews and do a little general sightseeing in western Wisconsin. We started the visit with Pearl Street Brewery. Our GPS took us to the address, but we could not see the establishment. We drove around a little bit and ended up back at the same place, a large old brick industrial building that apparently used to house a rubber boot manufacturer. I decided to drive off the street along the west side of the building and found Pearl Street, so we went in to try their products. We found a small bar area located essentially in the brewery. This is the kind of micro-brewery I like; no- nonsense, no pretense, just some people making beer. Apparently some nights they have some local live music. We found seats at the bar and talked with the friendly bar keep as well as genuinely friendly locals there for the same purpose as us. Ms T loves her double IPA's (there are none too hoppy). She naturally had to have the Dankenstein Double IPA, rated at 105 IBU and she loved it. I went for the El Hefe hefeweizen with the typical clove/banana flavors. It was not real deep and I need to stop ordering these. Nevertheless, we had a low cost, fun time. I highly recommend stopping in. Actually a few nights later before leaving to return home, we stopped in again. Ms T stuck with her Dankenstein and I tried their Pearl Street Pale Ale and found it more to my liking, but to each his own. We were glad we found this place. read more

I made my second visit there today. I had gone there for the first time about a month ago on a work outing. On that day, we did the whole tour thing. It was interesting, even though it's a small place. All the beer choices they have are written on a board above the bar. I did not know what to get the first time, so I asked. They were annoyed with me. I happened to know people sitting at the bar, and they steered me to the El Hefe...which I was very happy with. I know they're busy, but I've never been there and I needed help. But, in the end, I was happy. They offered a beer in a souvenir glass with the tour for $6. Today, I went with my mother and daughter while were were in LaCrosse. The parking was horrible. They only have a small area in which to park. I hadn't noticed that last time because we took a bus. Anyway, I stood at the bar for a few minutes to trader, but they were very busy. It cost me $6.50 for 2 beers and a bottle of pop. Very good. I don't really see this place as a place to hang out and drink like a traditional bar...this is just a 'tasting room'. But, it's a good place to stop and have a beer. read more

While I am not much of a craft beer drinker, the brews here were very refined. Normally, I find craft beers to be a little over done. Almost like the brewer was trying to hard to be different. But these guys focused on making high quality beer that everyone can drink. Kudos!! read more

Visited this brewery in the middle of a road trip, so unfortunately our visit only was about 2 hours, but we could have spent all night at this place! What a great space and fun crowd. The Space: It is in an old Footwear warehouse, so there is some character to the building. If you aren't looking for it though you might not see any signs for the brewery so keep your eyes peeled. The interior is very inviting. It is one wide open space with a tasting room, a bunch of tables and a bar. There is even a stage where they have live music occasionally. Behind the bar is where the magic happens, and it's kind of fun that you get to see all of the tanks and operations right out in the open. The Beer: The beer is good. The brewmaster worked out at some breweries in CO for a while so I'm sure he learned a lot out there which is apparent in what he makes. The beer list seems to be growing too which is exciting. When we stopped out in August, we sampled the Apple Weizen (my favorite), the Pale Ale (second favorite), a Hemp Porter and the IPA. All of the brews were great. We grabbed a growler of the Apple to go. The People: The bartender was super friendly. I wish I remembered her name! She was tall and blonde. She let us sample a few different beers before choosing what we wanted to drink. She was attentive and seemed to be having a lot of fun. We were lucky enough to meet Joe, the Brewmaster and owner. He was a great guy. He sat around and chatted with us for a while and it was great to learn about his past and how he got started. He seems like a genuinely good guy and I hope that he has continued success with his brewery! Hopefully we will be back soon. read more

I have sampled Pearl Street Brews from different bars from around the city and finally decided to embark on the tour offered at their brewery. It was a magnificent time full of information and top quality beer. The tour was kept informative yet entertaining throughout. Our tour guide kept us engaged with jokes and trivia questions. I recommend like everyone else on Yelp to try the flight for $7. The bartender gives you options, but you can also create your own flight. We chose to create our own and we had the ability to try a range of different beers. The beers have clever names and it is fun to discuss with your friends which beer you liked the best. The overall atmosphere of the Tasting Room is positive and fun. There are games available for customers to enjoy. The staff is friendly and engaging. Overall, this is a fun brewery tour and excellent tasting beers. I will definitely be back with more friends. read more

Stopped in on a Friday afternoon for a couple beers with some friends. The place smelled great (they were brewing while we were at the bar). I really liked being able to watch the brewing process from the bar. Their beers are solid craft brews. Go for the sampler then go with a pint of your favorites. PARKING-- for anyone parking at this brewery, please be aware you park at the very high risk of getting towed and having to pay $130 to get your vehicle back from towing company at your own expense. From speaking with the staff, this is a very common problem as the owner of the towing company patrols this area like a hawk. This is the only reason I am unable to give a 5 star review as the tour, the tour guide and the beer was fantastic. Just double check with the staff if where you parked is safe when you get there. read more

This was the BEST brewery tour I've ever taken. The tour guide was super knowledgeable about beer. Every question from the group was answered and we had a ton of great questions along the way. Also, a lot of fun facts during the tour and we got to smell the beer ingredients to appreciate the beer brewing process. The tour includes a pint glass, a pour of beer into your glass, a sticker, and a two for one coupon at local restaurants. I also had a flight of 8 2.5 ounce pours of different beers for $8. It's getting to the point where I find Micro-breweries have become a hobby. I and my brother looked forward to visiting Pearl Street. It is the type of setting I love in a micro-brewery. The bar was full when we arrived so we grabbed a table. It was immediately obvious to us that table service wasn't available. My brother went to the service area of the bar. After a few minutes, the bar maid sauntered over to tell him she'd be with him in a few minutes, and she went back to chat with other patrons. After a few more minutes, she wandered back and took the order. The beer might have been good, but the bad taste had already entered our mouths with this barkeeps arrogant attitude. We have been to many local breweries around Wisconsin to support local beer. When we decided to do a Pearl Street Brewery tour, we were initially excited because we liked the beer. However, this ended up being one of the worst experiences we have ever had. Apparently they have been in this historical building for a few years, but the atmosphere is that of a fraternity house basement; neglected and bare. There was only one bartender who was responsible for filling beers, growlers and setting up tours. Thankfully we got there early because it took a very long time to be helped. When the short and pathetic tour was over, we tried buying a few packs of beer to bring home. Again we waited and waited to be helped. There were now two people working behind the bar. After watching multiple people be helped who had either just walked up to the bar or who had arrived after us, we left the packs of beer on the bar and left. I want to support local beer, but I can't give respect where it isn't deserved. Since it starts at the top, I can't imagine how the owners operate and carry themselves. It is reflected in their facility and their employees. A huge disappointment. read more
