The highlight of our weekend trip to La Crosse, for sure! We were all dressed up after a wedding and looking for a classy lounge/speakeasy vibe. Thankfully, Yelp led us to Starlite! DECOR: Incredible 70s vibes without being over the top or kitschy. So tasteful and feels like a time capsule! MUSIC: Live music on Wednesdays and Saturdays - such a great addition! Awesome stage and the jazz band made for the perfect entertainment. SERVICE: The team is incredible. Attentive and suggested favorites from the drink list, and accommodated when we wanted to move closer to the music. DRINKS: They've got it all but specialize in martinis! Some are a bit sweet but there's plenty to pick from - fun flavors and colors or the classics. PRICES: Usually when I see drink prices not listed in the menu, I assume they're gonna be steep. We got two martinis and they were a whopping $7.50 each...unreal! I wish we could have these kind of prices in the Twin Cities! We were so shocked we stayed for another round. This should be at the top of your list for a weekend getaway in La Crosse!

What is there not to love about this bar? Chill vibe, dimmed lights, people just having a great time w/ their drinks on hand. I tried their famous key lime pie cocktail and it was ok. Perhaps a little too sweet for my taste buds. I'll definitely come back again! A great place to link up w/ your friends after a long day at work for a little night cap!

After coming here at least 4 times now, I have yet to find a complaint, and we love it enough to keep coming back. The atmosphere and decor are super unique and really fun. The service is always fantastic, though it can be a bit slow when they get busy (but it's not really the type of place you go to if you're in a hurry anyways). We've enjoyed every drink we've had there, and their cocktails are all a reasonable $7. Some of our favorite drinks: Key Lime Pie, Sidecar with Brown Sugar Bourbon, Chocolate Monkey, and Coffee Break. You can also order food from downstairs that also rocks! We ordered the nachos, and for $12, they were HUGE, and some of my favorite nachos! We couldn't even finish them between the two of us. They also have great deals for happy hour! Definitely check this place out, an absolute gem!

Starlite is a great place! My husband and I went there to meet up with some friends. The atmosphere is amazing! Sits right on top of Buzzard Billy's restaurant, which is another great place btw, and will be another review for another time! Starlite is known to have jazz music from time to time, and the band plays several sets which calculates to about about 4 hours worth of music! For my adult beverages, I had a Cosmopolitan and another drink called The Coffee Break, which actually had real coffee beans that floated on top! Both very good drinks, and the Cosmo was pretty tart!! Enough to give you a lifetime of lock jaw! I'm not even kidding about that, lol! For an appetizer, we got the Jerk Pork Nachos! This plate was good enough for 6! I am telling you, huge portions, and it was really good! If you're looking for a cool place to chill and you're in the La Crosse area, head to Starlite lounge! It's a swank and pretty awesome place to be!

I don't know why it took me so long to visit this place. It's super retro, sexy cool, colorful cocktails, and food from buzzard Billy's below. Their happy hour is the Shiizzzz! I don't know what that word means other than freakin cheap! They have all the usual martinis and then a side set of variations on them. I had a raspberry cosmo. Yum yum. And it cost $3.50. Like wha?! Many appetizers are half price during happy hour and I went for the blackened chicken nachos. It's gooey, it's messy, it's in my belly good. My whole bill was just under $10. Can't be beat! Staff is incredibly friendly and welcoming. Physical distance is on point. I'd be happy to be a regular!

I waited a while to write this review because I wanted to be fair. If I had written it the day of…read morethe event it would have been 1 star. Given the time of further consideration, I think 3 stars is legit. Here's the deal: I attended a family wedding here earlier this summer. The bride & groom were radiant, their friends were ecstatic to participate in their nuptials & everyone in the family was thrilled this day had arrived. We were all eager to celebrate. The venue at The Court Above Main, meaning the large room where the wedding & reception took place, is gorgeous. With high ceilings & floor to ceiling windows there is plenty of natural light on a sunny afternoon. It's elegant & creates a lovely mood as the guests anticipate the blessed event. Finally, the moment arrives...the wedding was a delight. Soon after, pictures began & most of us were quickly scooted out of the wedding venue to a small outside ante-room which turned out to be the bar. There were about 120 guests. Thankfully, not the 150 expected, or this would have been even worse. That's 120 people all eager to get a drink at a small counter with 2 very nice, but obviously overwhelmed, bartenders. Once everyone had their drinks we were all stuck in this ante-room where there were a few tall tables & at most, 8 places to sit. It was a hot summer day & this room didn't have enough air conditioning. Everyone was sweating, there was practically no place to sit, there was barely room to stand, and not a bite to nibble on. (I realize that may have been an error made by the wedding couple in terms of not considering appetizers of any kind. However, what legitimate venue purporting to provide exceptional wedding services would allow an oversight like this without being sure the wedding couple seriously understood the importance of something to eat while drinking alcohol?). We were stuck in this situation for more than 2 hours! That's how long it took the room where the wedding occurred to be transitioned with tables & chairs for the dinner. Yup, 2 hours of being too hot, with aching feet, and no place to escape. Being a wedding, there were several elderly family members in attendance who were able to snag the few available chairs. But not everyone. So finally, people started trying to go in the main room where the tables & chairs were being set up & where it was much cooler because the AC worked almost too well. Those who tried got yelled at! That's hardly a welcoming vibe. The reason this transition took so long is because there were only 2 people on staff doing all the work. I have a good friend who manages wedding events & when I told him about this wedding, he said they always have a minimum staff of 5 for this number of people so they can ensure the transition happens in no more than 20 minutes. Now that seems reasonable. Once we were finally seated for dinner, the same 2 people were the only ones both serving & clearing. They were nice enough, but it all took way too long. I've gone on long enough. I'll finish by saying with this size venue & their limited staffing, I'm sure it could be a lovely wedding for 50 people, 75 at the most. Otherwise, it's simply not a large enough space, at least for the drinking portion of the event. And you'd be smart to insist there are a minimum of 4 staff to handle transitions & serving. Also insist there are enough tables & chairs in the bar area.

I was a wedding guest here in September. The venue itself is great, a cool cocktail room, and the…read moremain reception are is also nice. It's on the smaller side, so don't expect to have 150+ people and be comfortable, but for the clientele it serves, it's a great option. My frustration is with one of the bartenders. I ordered an old fashioned, a fairly common drink for most wedding-goers. The bartender made the drink, placed it in front of me, and said that it would be an extra $2 because "it's all alcohol, compared to other drinks." He caught me off guard, seeing as everything else other than top-shelf liquor is included in an open-bar package. The drink wasn't made with premium whiskey anyhow, unless Jack Daniels is considered premium in this neck of the woods. Anyways, if they're going to stiffarm you for an extra $2 here and there, so be it. But, to make your drink, set it down in front of you, and then ask for extra money, that's just unprofessional. Be upfront about it. The drink would've been better served tossed in his face, as his bartending skills were more insulting than anything.
