Dr Castleberry did a wonderful job in her examination and answered all my questions about getting progressives (I have a current pair that haven't seemed to make my vision better). Just picked my new pair up Saturday morning and have not had one headache. They have a great selection of glasses to choose from and the Dr even helped me pick out a frame that flatters my face. I paid for my glasses decided not to get the warranty in case I break my glasses or scratch the lens. Ok so a week later it is time to go pick up my new glasses. The lady doesn't give me the eyeglass case so I ask for it. This lady says you didn't pay for the warranty so you don't get it. You can pay 9.99 for a case. Excuse me what do you mean. Every glasses comes with a case. My glasses weren't free but even if they were. Then when she was talking to me she had an attitude like I punched her in the face or something. I have been meeting with Dr. Castleberry since 2015 and love her and the staff. I was unable to get annual exams and new glasses there between 2019 and 2023 due to relocation. But now I am back and very happy to have my vision in the hands of Dr. Castleberry and her staff. She knows what I need to keep my vision health strong and I trust her 100%. Beware Pearle selling overpriced dietary supplements. My wife was scared into a $75 purchase of what she was told was a "prescription" for macular degeneration. She attempted to return it unopened and was told again it was a "prescription" and could not be returned. The very similar supplement is available online for about $6. She was happy with the process of selecting the frame and the exam itself but this practice of gouging patients for supplements is unethical. read more

Called Pearle Vision around noon today and was greeted by a very pleasant woman who described to me all the different pricing options available without trying to strong-arm me into driving to the store immediately. She explained my choices without overly selling them, which was refreshing--usually I feel attacked by the workers (simply attacked!) when I walk into a franchised eyeglass/eye exam store. ***** Fast forward a few hours. It's evening time, and I had my eye exam this afternoon. The people working on the main floor of the place were friendly and helpful. The doctor who gave me the exam was warm, helpful, and said she'd research different contact lens options for me since I was interested in anti-fluorescent/anti-Migraine tints. We discussed the different options for lenses and she showed me the different parts of my eyeball on this really cool photograph they can take of your eye/retina now. (With this new machine, there's no need to dilate your eyes! Awesome!) After the appointment, I looked around the store's modest selection of frames. Of course I picked a pair of glasses that was over $200--I must have style. The store has frequent promotion's, and today's was 50% off your frames. OR you could opt for the everyday AAA members' deal of 30% off your entire purchase (excluding eye exam, though a AAA membership knocks $5 off the exam price). Either option saved me over $100 after I added all the features/lenses/coatings I desired. One of the optometrists got into a tiff with her beau while I was waiting for her to help me. She ended up storming after him and, when their conversation didn't go well, she left for a ciggie break. I ended up getting another woman, Jenna, to help, but it was sort of unprofessional. I definitely understand wanting to resolve your boyf spats ASAP, but the whole thing was weird since there were a handful of customers within three feet of them. Overall, a good experience. I had my eye exam done here, went back to get my lenses put in the frame I bought somewhere else. On the phone I was given an estimate when I went there, they tried to talk me into some other extras. I had to wait an hour or more even though I had an appointment. When my lenses would have ended up being above $500, I realized I wanted to shop around. Probably never going back again. The eye doctor wasn't too convincing either, I feel like maybe I should get another eye exam done just in case. read more

I first decided to purchase my eyewear from Pearle Vision because I found that they had a large selection of many designers at better prices than where I previously purchased my eyewear. I was cheerfully greeted by Laura Woods who was eager to assist me to find the perfect pair! She is so experienced in every aspect from insurance to correctly measuring my bifocals! I have enjoyed working with Laura so much, that I always insist on working with her every time I return. I came there with two broken glasses and I was quoted $ 60 to fix two bridges the two glasses that I bought at Pearle Vision. Ken the owner said the labor was $ 20 per glasses and $ 10 per labor. The frames are very flimsy and easily broken. Don't buy from Pearle Vision. I thought it was a high price but wanted them fixed. He said if we don't like them he would give us a full refund. I found out that Walmart, would fix them for free!!! We contact him and he said he already has repaired and would give us a refund except the labor. We were disappointed because he promised full refund. So we had Walmart to take off the bridge anyway , as Pearle Visions one didn't match and Walmart was better quality and matched. When we got to the Pearle vision store we expected to get $ 20 per glasses ($ 10 less than he said originally). We found that he was only willing to give us $ 10 per glasses. What a con job! Also Walmart has much better glasses that don't break as My wife has had some for many years with no problems. read more

This has to be the worst customer service I've ever seen. Took a pair of frames to get updated lens and they break the frames. They said that there was paper that was signed stating they if any damages to frame or lens they we're not responsible. Guess what they can't show proof of the paper or my signature. The worst part they won't even refund for the frames that they broke, stay away far away from this place. When I asked for a refund for the frames from the manager named Ken Zhao he said and I quote " You would have to shoot me to get a refund". I have been going to the Athens Georgia store location for over 10 years. I've spent thousands of dollars here over the years on eye exams, contact lenses and glasses. I built a strong relationship with the doctor and the staff, or so I had thought. I had an exam on 9/23/2017. After this appointment I decided to order a pair of glasses along with some contact lenses that Dr.Castleberry recommended to me. I bought a 400 dollar pair of glasses that Pearl Vision was gracious enough to discount 50% (200 dollars). My glasses were ready in minutes! I've always loved Pearl Vision for how quickly they assemble new glasses on the spot. After I received my new glasses I inquired about new lenses for my old pair of Raybans that I had purchased here 5 years ago. The sales person who was helping me, Victoria, told me that it would be no problem at all. I order the lenses for 120 dollars and left my frames there until the new lenses were to arrive and be installed. To sum up the amount of money I have already spent: 120 dollars for the new lenses. 90 dollars for the exam, and 200 dollars on a new pair of RayBans (frames and lenses). I spent 410 dollars here in one visit. On 10/02/2017, the store manager Robin called me about the glasses that I had ordered new lenses for. She told me that she broke them when trying to put in the new lenses. This was a 200 dollar pair of glasses that I purchased at this location 5 years ago. She offered to sell me another pair at a discount but I had already spent 410 dollars here a week ago. I was trying to update this old pair for new lenses. I didn't need another pair of glasses. Every solutions she was offering me costed me more money. I have spent enough money. I would have never even ordered new lenses had they warned me there was a possibility that the frames might break! So I asked for my money back because I can't afford to just keep throwing money away poor optometry skills and terrible customer service. I asked you to find way to refund my money and Robin would only give me 70% of what I paid. She told me that she did have time to listen to my complaint and that she didn't have to listen to me anymore. All I wanted was my money back! After all, I did just lose a 200 dollar pair of glasses. So now I have to find a different place to order glasses and I lost 60 dollars to Robin the store manager. She did give me plenty of attitude though! It saddens me to know that I lost a good relationship with what I had believed to be, until now, a great company. I wish there was some way to make this right but I just don't see how. Cheap glasses that will break in 13 months, right outside warranty period, and very expensive. Owner is Chinese, Mr. Ken Zhao, really bad and dishonest. My rimless glass broke promptly at the nose bridge. He wanted to charge $80 to fix this; all other stores fix this for free. Then he lied to me about charges and charged me more than he agreed to on the phone. Really bad way to run business and very dishonest. He will change his prices on you multiple times - this is not how business in done in the US. Beware! There are multiple other outstanding eye glasses stores in Athens. read more

I recently went there with my son who is on Peachcare. I handed them his prescription, and was promptly asked for his insurance. When I gave them the info, they walked over to a cabinet got out a little plastic container with frames in it, and said, "pick one". No one offered to help us, measure him, guide us, NOTHiNG. Walked off with no help. My son is getting his first pair of glasses and I felt so belittled. When we picked out frames the apathetic employee says she would send it in and he'd have glasses back in one to two weeks. That was over a month ago. I've tried calling numerous times and the phone rings and rings or I get put on eternal hold. I thought maybe they went out of business.....wouldn't surprise me if they treat all customers in this manner. This is a TERRIBLE place to go to have your eye exam. I chose this place because they were open on Saturdays and so I wouldn't have to take off work. My appointment was at 12:45. I didn't leave until 3:45. I have worn glasses since I was in the third grade and have never had to wait more than an hour from start to finish and I'm 40 so what does that tell you? They had me down for a glasses exam even though I told them contacts. Then, they didn't ask me to take out my contacts so I had to ask the Dr. did he need me to remove them. The staff at the front would let you stand at the counter for five to ten uncomfortable minutes while they put patient information into the system before they would acknowledge you. It was a zoo; there is nowhere to stand or sit because they only had four chairs in the waiting area. Take my advice: take off work and just visit a regular physician. This place isn't worth the money I spent on the exam, which, by the way was the most I have ever had to pay in my life and I have insurance! read more

I bought my first pair of contacts there for 30 dollars. after 3 months I called to tried to reorder my contacts and they told me it costs 50 dollars for a pair of contacts. I tried to tell them that I only got it for 30 dollars 3 months earlier. They just ignored me and started to talk down to me like a little boy and just told it cost 50 dollars. That made me so mad! later I looked online and it only cost 35 dollars so I called them and tried to cancel my order. They got really really rude and the whole time I tried to be as polite as possible because I also own a business and I know how difficult customers can get.
