This is horrible place for appointment scheduling..called them today to to schedule an appointment, got an appointment for 1:45. I told them that I would have to be out by 2:30 while I was scheduling the appointment. As soon as I reached the front desk person is so rude to me to say that they are running behind and I should reschedule my appointment to some other day. Pearle Vision - Get ready to rip off - Eyewear & Opticians Near Me - Iselin, New Jersey

I have been using Yelp for years and rarely leave negative reviews, but felt this was necessary after the experience I had here. I recently relocated to this area and needed an eye exam so I could order new contacts, so decided to try this Pearl Vision. I showed up to my eye exam and was seen promptly, which was nice. The staff at the front desk were also very nice and friendly (which is why I'm giving 2 stars instead of 1). The woman that completed the tests prior to the doctor seeing me did not know how to operate one of the machines (the one that blows air in your eyes)- and needed to have someone come in and show her, but that wasn't a big deal. However, once the doctor entered, everything went downhill. She made really awkward and weird comments throughout the exam. She also insisted on giving me a WAY stronger prescription from what I had even though I told her multiple times it was too strong. She said she would order me a trial pair so I could test them out, and did not write me a prescription so I could order contacts. She did not explain anything to me, and was overall very unfriendly and unhelpful. I was told by the front desk that I would receive a call once they came in. I left and went to Target, and received a call from Pearl Vision about 40 minutes after I left that they made a mistake with my insurance (???) and I owed another $15, and asked for my credit card info again. I told her I would pay it when I came in to pick up the trial lenses I was being forced to test out. I called 3 days later to check the status on these lenses, since all of this was holding up me ordering new contacts. I was told the trial lenses had already come in and I could pick them up the next day. No one at the office ever bothered to call me and let me know. I showed up the next day (today) to pick up these trial lenses, as I was told to do on the phone the day before. I was informed that I needed to schedule a follow-up appointment with the doctor to try on these lenses and see if they fit, etc. I was told I could not pick up these trial lenses. WHY was I told the day before to come pick up these trial lenses??? The front staff said it was a mistake. I asked, since I left work early and traveled all the way there for no reason, if I could see the doctor and figure this out that evening instead of waiting another week, and the front staff was extremely helpful, and fit me in to see the doctor. Thankfully, it was Dr Hanna who saw me, and not the doctor I originally saw. Unlike the original doctor I saw, Dr Hanna was very kind and helpful and informative, and apologized for the mix-ups/what was going on. I told her about the other doctor insisting on giving me a prescription that was way too strong for me despite me telling her multiple times it was too strong, I tested out the trial lenses (which were indeed WAY too strong for me- as I said they would be), and she fixed the problem quickly. This entire experience was irritating and unnecessary (I should not have had to make 2 different trips there just to get my lens prescription), but Dr Hanna was able to resolve it. I would also like to emphasize again that the front desk staff were all very friendly, welcoming, and helpful throughout this ordeal which made things a little better. read more

We have been going here for the past 3-4 years. The doctors are great. We really like Dr. Hanna and she was great with my son. We also love Damien in the eyeglass area. He is patient, knowledgeable, and great with kids. He also adjusts my son's glasses with no problem. I would recommend this place to anyone. read more

I rarely give negative reviews; however, I had a terrible experience at this location. I called in advance to ensure that my appointment would go as planned. The front desk staff, especially Corinne, were really helpful. However, the exact opposite was true for the Opticals' side. They were completely unaware of any information, gave incorrect information to Front Desk staff multiple times and did not seem to care that they were wasting a customer's time. Obviously this upset me. As I was walking out, thoroughly upset after wasting my time, the employee named Will from Optical had the indecency to laugh and pass snide comments. Had a great experience getting an exam and fitted for new contacts. Dr. Hanna is a an absolute professional. I've been having trouble with contact lenses and eye irritation, she was super attentive and gave me 3 different types of sample lenses to take home and try out. The exam was very thorough and answered a lot of questions I had. The front desk staff and techs were all super friendly and welcoming. The office and exam rooms were spotless! I'm the guy who never goes to a doctor, but my eye was swollen shut for a few days so I thought it was time. I was greeted by a friendly & smiling staff as soon as I walked thru the door - which put me at ease. The incredibly beautiful Dr. Hanna was able to squeeze me in the Friday before Memorial weekend which was a amazing since I've called at least 5 other eye doc's within a 15 radius & she quickly diagnosed the problem. I just had my eye exam at Pearle Vision in Iselin, NJ. Dr. Hanna gave me the most thorough exam; she is extremely knowledgeable and very caring. She makes sure you understand everything she tells you. She should get 10 stars! The office staff were great with scheduling the exam and working with insurance. They should get 10 stars! Lastly, I worked with Tina while choosing a new pair of eyeglasses. Again, she's very very knowledgeable about the whole process and with insurance for the glasses. I have called them 4 different times to order my contacts (after the doctor during my contact exam said I was good to order) every call resulted in my hanging up after being placed on hold for over 10 mins. Finally I got an extremely rude girl yesterday (names Corrine or something like that) and after telling me I had to come end I told her to just send me my prescription because I was done at this point. Very helpful!!!! I was in town on business and broke my glasses. I stopped at a LenCrafters on the highway to repair my glasses. The receptionist told me they couldn't fix my glasses if I didn't get them from them but I can buy a new pair. I just got them a month ago near my home in Philly so I left. I then saw a Pearl Vision and hoped they could help me. I was greeted by a sweet young lady that said our Optician will help you. He took a look went behind the desk worked some magic and fixed my glasses in two minutes. I asked how much and he said just come back for your next pair. Such a highly unethical place. Tried to purchase a pair of glasses for $189, ad $99. Had insurance to cover $150 for frames. Originally the ma helping us said the total should be around $150 with insurance and then 40% off the second pair. Magically that jumped to about $450. When asked to give other options he kept insisting "this is everything you need" and refused to give a breakdown or explanation of the outrageous costs. After being told that we wanted the absolute basics, he still refused to give us just that. I would never refer anyone or return to this store again. read more

So I called on Tuesday to make an appointment fit an appointment for Friday, in the same call, I asked the lady if they took my insurance, the women on the phone said they did. Then we get there on Friday and they tell me they don't take our insurance and that they are out of network. Then they said they called me but I have no message. WTF! Very knowledgeable, caring, and client service oriented staff at Pearle Vision in Iselin. I want to take a moment and commend the staff at Pearle Vision in Iselin, for doing an excellent job with my mother's glasses. Thank you for helping after my mother after she purchased prescription sun glasses at another Pearle Vision location which was not as competent as your location in Iselin. The first time, the glasses were hideous, lens were protruding out of the frame. I returned the glasses, with hesitation from the optometrist my mother's glasses were re-done. After, days of my mother using her re-done glasses, she informed she could not use them because the glasses fatigued her eyes. A few weeks passes and my mother would not use her glasses. I went to my mother's eye doctor had them inspect the lenses and prescription and discovered that the second time the glasses were re-done the progressive prescription was not centered. So this was the reason for the malaise and fatigue in her eyes. This is when I went to the Pearle Vision in Iselin, took, my mother's glasses in to be inspected by the very knowledgeable optometrist and she also noticed the progressive prescription was not centered. Unfortunately, I do not recall the names of the staff members at the Pearle vision in Iselin; however, I would like to commend the manager that advocated for my mom and reached out to the other location and explained to them the issue and without hesitation she took ownership and said she would correct the issue, also the friendly and knowledgable optometrist, and the gentlemen who did the measuring for my mothers frame who zeroed in on her actually frame size in proportion her face/nose bridge. Worst customer service ever. Dealing with the office manager Tina was the worst experience in the islin office. After receiving my colored contacts I notice I was getting headaches everyday. I went back to see the doctor and she realized that the prescription was to strong and that's why I was getting the headaches. I spoke to the office manager Tina trying to get reimburse or order the correct prescription for the open contacts box she told me that I couldn't get my money back or order the new prescription for the open box of contacts. First of all their office gave me the wrong trial contacts and wrong prescription why I'm I not being reimbursed for their mistake. Tina the office manager mention that she couldnt do anything for me that she had to discuss with her district manager who was coming in the following day. She said she would call me the following day after speaking with district manager. After several attempts to reach her SHE NEVER CALLED! Finally tina called on telling me the only thing she can do was give me 3 months of CLEAR contacts. I PAID FOR 1 YEAR SUPPLY OF COLORED! I told her I wanted to speak to the district manager because this was not right on their part. 3 weeks later I'm still waiting for the district's managers call. Their mistake why should I have to pay. HORRIBLE CUSTOMER SERVICE on behalf of the office manager TINA! would never recommend this place to anyone. read more

The glasses dispensed to me have a problem with the lenses: I paid for high-index lenses, but the lenses dispensed are significantly thicker than the lenses in my current frames - same prescription. Paul has agreed to review them, to see what can be done to correct the problem. read more

Stay away from this place. They are not concerned with getting you a good pair of glasses, they will try to trick you into spending a ridiculous amount of money for a pair of eyeglasses. I came in looking for a decent pair of glasses within 200 to 300 dollars they start off by quoting me for 400 dollar glasses. Definitely a bunch of opportunistic vultures working here. read more
