Hands down the best Reuben I've ever had. I used to serve them in my restaurants years ago, and people raved about them--but this one tops them all. Absolutely delicious. Fried fish was salted well (it's a big pet peeve of mine when you order fish and chips and the chef has forgotten the salt!), batter was crispy and delicious, fries were perfect, and the sweet potato salad was a side I never knew I needed. Although we were seated right away and service was friendly & attentive, this last trip to Pecan Street Brewing was a disappointment on the food. I ordered the Pecan Sweet Chicken and the breading did not stick to it at all. The chicken inside was shriveled and dry. I've never had chicken fried chicken where the breading didn't stick to it. The green beans and mashed potato sides were good though. My mom got the Reuben, which was apparently a popular choice that day. She enjoyed it. My dad got the club sandwich and he wasn't impressed. He said the bread tasted old and it was just underwhelming. My daughter ordered the mac & cheese and ended up not really being able to eat it because the green chilies were too spicy. I didn't read the menu that closely, so I don't know if it mentioned that green chiles were in it. We got the chips and dip trio as an appetizer. The salsa and queso were good, but the guacamole was already turning brown. Our table got two beers and a cranberry gin and tonic, and we all enjoyed our drinks. Great dinner spot in JC! Front of house staff was very friendly and got us seated as quickly as possible despite the busy Friday night crowd. You could really tell this was the go to spot in town. Ordered chicken fried steak for $22. For this price, restaurant dictates to you what sides you get...garlic mashed potatoes and seasonal vegetable. If you want different sides, it is extra $$$. Chicken fried steak was mostly crust and EXTREMELY salty. Seriously, had to dig through crust for 1/4 inch of meat. Sides were just so-so. Even side salad, ordered at extra cost was only small portion of lettuce, tomato, and croutons. Ranch dressing was very mayo-forward tasting. Restaurant doesn't even offer complimentary bread and butter like every other restaurant these days. Skip this place and save your money and appetite for a more deserving restaurant. read more

Trifecta of bad food, bad service, bad atmosphere. Ordered the Pecan Sweet Chicken. I read the options straight from the menu - sub sweet sauce with pepper gravy and make it "dirty" (i.e. hot). Server says "so you just want chicken fried chicken?". Confused I replied "I guess...except "dirty". She stared me down and impatiently said "you realize that's gonna be hot?" I surrendered and replied "yes ma'am". Spouse ordered grilled chicken pesto sandwich. My chicken had so much breading it was a grease bomb. It was also smothered in a deep red glossy chipotle-ish sauce that had been ladled on top. It had an odd slightly sweet taste not to my liking, so I smothered it in the pepper gravy. Spouse's sandwich was tough as nails and sour dough bread was very stale/dried out. Pesto was ok, as well as my gravy, and asparagus. Wife's fries were old and cold. Inside was so noisy we couldn't hear ourselves think, although the place was maybe 30% full. We chose to eat outside and it was dirty with chairs so rusty it discolored my spouse's shorts. The main courses are excellent that we had. Give you a warm and fuzzy fever. However, they will charge you an extra $.75 if you don't get enough tartar sauce for your fish. And the potatoes that come with the brunch items are essentially hash brown patties like you get at McDonald's except larger. Experience would've been better with something house made with real potatoes. Otherwise the chicken fried steak is to be recommended along with the catfish. Waffle burger was good. Wow oh wow! Everything went right at this brewery! I loved everything about this place! The ambiance was great, decor was great, it wasn't too noisy inside, and the food and service were also impeccable. I got the pink point prickly pear wheat, which was a very easy-to-drink beer that has fruity notes. They also have make-you-own flights available for those of you who can't just choose one beer at a time. Their soft pretzel was a delicious appetizer to accompany the beer, while the black sheep burger was an excellent entree. I loved the mustard/relish that came with the soft pretzel because it had notes of horseradish but was also surprisingly on the sweeter side. The black sheep burger was juicy and came with a side of tzatziki sauce that paired perfectly with the lamb. Visited on Easter Sunday completely by accident while driving through from Fredericksburg and wow, what a great surprise! From start to finish, everything was incredible. The service stood out immediately. The hosts, servers, bartenders all professional, friendly, and genuinely good people. The owners went the extra mile to make the holiday special for everyone dining that day. They even hid Easter eggs filled with candy and prizes on the patio for each family. Such a thoughtful touch! We sat outside on the patio, which was super cute, shaded, and just perfect for the beautiful weather. Great service and onsite crafted brews, not to mention I was able to order an off-menu grilled chicken sandwich with all the fixings. Monday turned out to be meatloaf day, which came highly recommended and didn't disappoint according to my husband who was persuaded into ordering the meatloaf sandwich. Fantastic dog friendly patio. Food was good we had a burger and a ruben sandwich. On the road travel day so did not sample any of the beers but would like to try next time in the area. Service was fast and friendly. We were there for a late lunch so not very busy. If you want to take your four legged friend for a relaxing lunch would definitely recommend. Mac and cheese was the most awful we have ever had. Gummy pasta partially covered in some weird watery under seasoned queso with a large floppy piece of whole bacon. It was like a dish that an elementary student might make thinking they're cute. They upcharged us $6.00 to turn MUSTARD GREENS into Mac n chs. It's 2026. No one wants mustard greens and that's why they choose your sides for you because they know you want something better. Well we didn't get better at all and that game is greedy af. What a trap. Also the owner or manager sits at the BAR on the patron side and looks like a patron during dinner hours. She sits there cutting up while all other staff are working other than popping up as a hostess when guests come in and that's it. Very unprofessional and odd thing to experience. We stopped to check out Johnson City and find a place to watch the Playoffs. A crusty guy greeted us. We smiled and let him get away with it because of his impressive beard, and the fact the place was packed. The restaurant had a ton of families, and there was a high level of energy. The campus is a fun combination of a restaurant, beer garden, and upstairs pool hall. The chicken nachos, light-up pizza, and Turkey cheddar sandwich were all better than expected and well made--the sandwhich was perfectly made with toasted bread, rich Mayo, and two melted slices of cheddar. The blond beer was flavorful and a nice compliment to the food. There were only 2 TVs at the bar, so not the best for watching football, but we will go back for the great experience. read more

We took a day trip to Johnson City to see the wildlife refuge and also check out Pecan Street Brewing. We'd heard great things about the food and beer and that advice was spot on. I got their GABF gold medal-winning rye lager and it was tasty. My fiance tried the saison and my buddy got the wet hopped session ipa which was hoppy and delicious. My fiance and I shared the Nashville hot chicken and the pretzel burger and my buddy got the pizza. The Nashville hot chicken stole the show!
