It's a quick jaunt to/from the LIE (though we always take the back roads) and is kinda equidistant in terms of the entire Peconic route, offering some nice portage (including a ramped launch between tunnels that seems to amaze newcomers every time when they spot the bottom of a not-that-severe dropoff into tunnels, which complement the one up the road). PROS: NONE This charter should have been rescheduled by Capt Ron due to rough seas, instead he took us out and asked us what we wanted to do. We loved dancing on the boat, trying out the SUP board (included), basically chugging our BYOB drinks (no hard liquor allowed on board), taking pics lounging in the net, gawking at the yachts, and pretending the pool noodles were seahorses that we were riding. We arrived 1/2 hour late, and they were able to hold our equipment and it made no difference in our reservation... 4 hours began at the time that we stepped out of their office. They have a restroom for the public in the next building over, which was kept clean and stocked. A gentleman helped us into our kayaks and sent us off. The river is beautiful, though because it's quite wide, you need to share it with yachts and boats of various sizes. This creates some waves, and they can be a pain in the ass. In general, people on the water are cool with each other, but there are some (maybe it's a Long Island thing) who feel so superior in their big beautiful boats and treat you like a pipsqueak in their way. As I was all the way to the right side of the river, while returning to the dock, a boat came up behind me. I turned around, looked at the guy driving, and he made a hand motion to say "move over to the left." I thought I was blocking his way into his dock, but he passed me by and kept going straight! Like WTF? That has nothing to do with L.I. Canoe Kayak Rentals, I'm just commenting on the experience in general. To add to the experience, there are some really nice spots with exposed sand (when it's not high tide) that you can hang out along and explore nature. There's a bird sanctuary as well... which wasn't really that impressive, but that may have just been my timing. When we returned to the dock, we pulled in our kayaks and there was no one present to help us out. A couple of ladies pulled their kayaks in, and one needed help getting out, so we provided that help ourselves. I wasn't so impressed about that aspect of this business, though I realize it's probably a lot to ask for them to have someone standing on the dock all day to receive people who are returning. It wasn't a cheap trip, but I'd likely return. I will probably check out some other places first though.

The representative argued with me about NY state procedure of giving and reclaiming IDs saying " I've been getting driver's licenses in the state of NY for 40 years and they never took my old ID when I got a new one" I replied by asking " so in that 40 years did you ever renew a out of state license from Texas to NY?!"
