I have been taking things to Peddlar's for several years, and the staff there has always been pleasant and quick to accept my items and thank me for bringing them in. They promptly pay anything earned and always smile and say they look forward to seeing me next time. It is a drive for me to bring my things there...but well worth the trip. Extremely rude and unprofessional. Clothing and jewelry overpriced. Women at the desk needs some lessons in how to be professional when dealing with a consignor. There is a way to tell a customer you don't want what they have and this women clearly does not know how. Would never shop there after only one encounter. I do alot of consignment shopping and would never go in there again. So rude and arrogant and based on sone of reviews I have read I am not the only one who would not go back. I've been consigning with the Peddler for decades.The original owner (Lisa's mother) was a pleasure to work with, Lisa not so much. Last fall was the last straw. I checked with Lisa at the end of the summer to see when she wanted clothes - she told me October 1st. When I called ahead (mistake) she told me she too loaded up with clothes from her "regulars" to even look at what I had (which was a brand new, brand name storm coat that was too large for me, with tags; a coat she had already told me to bring when I'd brought it too early). I don't like being lied to. I'd rather donate my clothes to places that don't sell them (a refugee center or halfway house for women in recovery) than to make a few bucks dealing with a person who doesn't respect me enough to be honest. I hoped I would be able to forget about the treatment I got from Lisa, but that still hasn't happened. read more

It pains me to write this review, but after much thought and consideration it's necessary. I've been consigning there for decades. I have a fond memory of the original owner. Her daughter is another story. Sometime ago, I called about my account and was treated with horrible disrespect by Lisa, the daughter and heir apparent. There was no question she felt put out. There was the tone, the sighing, the you're bothering me attitude. I hung up after the call and was so fed up with her and the constant rudeness that I called back and said what I had to say. A few months later upon my return to NYS, I spoke with her mom about what transpired and while it wasn't an easy conversation, she needed to know what her daughter was doing as the face of her small business. I sent clothing up from Fl as I have done in the past for resale. I didn't think anything of it. I've been doing this for twenty years. Upon return for my mother's passing, I stopped in to see if I had any money and to check on my account. Lisa walks to the back and brings me what ended up being two full bags of clothing that "hadn't sold". Let me say this, in all the years I've done business there if I have three items that's a lot. I took my things and spoke my peace. After a few weeks of more thought, I waited until the weekend when I knew someone else was working and asked for my "pink paper-account" listing. There was no record of any of those items. The bags of clothing - they had never been put out on the floor. I have upscale new items. I knew something wasn't right and my instincts were accurate. Let me say this - people should not be rewarded for reprehensible behavior. Clearly there are issues here. The other reviews are accurate assessments. Lisa should not be in a service position. I comprehend standing by your child, but this girl has wreaked havoc on what was once a fun, lovely place to consign. She's spiteful and what she did could be viewed as somewhat criminal. It was definitely wrong. She kept bags of clothing that I assumed were being put out for sale and didn't notify me much, less advise me of what was going on. That was a loss of revenue for me. The owner is rude, pretentious and clearly does not know the value of certain brands, which is a shame when you own a consignment store. I will not go into details but I would not recommend shopping there or doing business with them. This shop seems to advertise online that it is something quite less than what it actually is. It is absolutely not a high end consignment shop. It is more of a thrift shop that desperately needs updating. I have stopped in a handful of times after my daughter has gotten her hair cut next door. The store itself feels rather dingy and unclean. The women working are often talking about shoppers and that is alarming to overhear. The clothing is hung on wire hangers. Upsale consignment shops would not dream of presenting items in the way they do here. Can you find a few cute items? Yes. Is it high end consignment as they advertise online? Although I did not buy anything, I was very impressed with the selection at this little shop (visited 13 June 2017) -- it was better than the twice-as-large Second Chic (located only a few blocks west). Everything was clean and contemporary and very nicely laid out -- accessible. One of the nicest things was the large collection of Coach bags (although the bags are laid out on a metal tray, part of the hanging rack -- hard to get to and the little Coach tags get caught in the metal grating. And, if you are short, hard to peruse! Bags are like new and reasonably priced -- not cheap, but certainly fair. The salesperson was very unobtrusive, maybe even cool.If you are interested in good quality (not super high end), this is a nice little shop! If we lived here I would definitely drop in monthly. read more

I've been shopping here for about 30 years -- from the time they had the location up Main St. The woman who now owns the place, Lisa, is the daughter of the original owner, who was a lovely sweet person. Lisa is the crankiest and rudest person and I've finally reached my limit for putting up with her mean, insulting behavior. I've spent thousands of dollars, but will never set foot in here again. If you don't care how you are treated, you might find clothing. If you have self respect, go elsewhere. read more

I'll give them a 3 star because I did find some nice buys at reasonable prices. I agree with many of the other reviews that the owners are rude and snobby. When I go in the store I focus on the good deals and have fun looking at the merchandise. I will say when I approach the register to pay for my items I get this cold uncomfortable vibe from whom I assume is the owner. She's obviously got issues. Perhaps she's unhappy that she has to sit at that register all day long watching other people come and go about their lives. Whatever it is, it's on her. Aside from being super duper jam packed and difficult to walk through, the clothes here were great! Tons of really great brand name items for good prices. I tried on a couple of skirts from Talbots and Lane Bryant. Didn't buy any, but they were NICE and nearly brand new. Wish they had fit me!!! They do not require an appointment to consign which is super convenient. And most likely the location I'd choose to consign with anyway. Really decent plus size selections. I wish I were a couple of sizes smaller so I could fit into more of what I wanted to, but I'm working on it. Ha! I will certainly be back here! Great consignment shop! read more

What a gold mine! Lindsay turned me onto this place and I will be going back a lot. I was looking for some new clothes for work- jackets, blazers, blouses, slacks (haha old people terms, but that's what I needed!) I wasn't looking to shell out serious dough for that kind of stuff at the typical stores, and Lindsay recommended checking this place out. Let me tell you, she never steers me wrong! The place is small, but packed with very nice clothes. These duds are top name brands and in like-new shape. Some things still had original tags on them, and you can tell they've never been worn. We hit it just right as they are having their big sale to get rid of fall/winter clothes. Everything in the store was 50% off and now I think it's at 75% off! I got a couple of Talbot's jackets for like $9 a piece, a Max Azria jacket for like $8, a Talbot's silk sleeveless shell (say that 5 times fast!) that had original tag on it, and never worn. It was originally $70 and I got it for $8!! What??? Styles are current and everything is in excellent condition. They are very choosy as to what they'll take from people and that's a good thing. There was a section of ladies shoes, purses, coats and dresses. They even have some jewelry. All in all, I got a bag full of like-new clothes for $60, probably worth a few hundred if bought retail. I will be going back soon!! February 1st, they will start taking clothes for spring/summer. Clothing must be brought on hangers (you can have the hangers back, if you want them) and they will contact you when your items sell. Love this place! read more

This store does have a nice variety of clothes but it's nothing like clothes mentor. With clothes mentor you get clothes from last year not clothes from 8 years ago. The owner and her daughter Lisa are extremely rude and condescending. They use wire hangers. They gossip about customers after they leave and others shopping can hear them. The Rudest woman working there. I visited this shop on a friday morning. The clerk was sorting through items that someone had dropped off. She was complaining that is was all trash and not suitable for her standards. Not only was she complaining she was loud about it. She was in the front of the shop and I was in the back and could hear her very clearly. I asked her a simple question and her answer was sarcastic and ignorant. Its really a shame that a business would have such a rude clerk. Maybe the owner needs to be more hands on and train their staff the basics of customer service and how to be professional. I had the same experience just last week. They claim to have only high end merchandise because they had 2 pair of very outdated Louboutin shoes. I will say to start with that they usually have a number of great clothes to look at and purchase but they are very inconsiderate to their customers. I contacted them in the morning to find out their hours for the day and I was told that they were open till 7PM. I got done with work at 6:15 and was at their door about 6:35. I was only going to look for a new dress ( I realized that I would only have a few minutes). When I got there, the door was locked and the women was inside counting money. Even though I would have paid cash for my purchase, she would not let me in. When I called today the women made no apology, but just kept saying that she was exhausted and had to close early. I wish she would have told me that when I called earlier then I would have called first before making the trip to the store. read more

Extremely upset a long time ago went in for first time was great found nice deals. Then went back to bring in nice clothes to sell they made me feel horrible yelled had folded nice in bags needed to be on hangers. I gave it another shot when they moved to the new location was fine found more deals. Today went in for my last time ever went with my mom and three years old son. He had a closed up they owner flipped out and asked what was in the cup is it water? We were in the store for two seconds and she was extremely rude. You don't want food or drinks in store put up a sign. Some nice things & labels,however, prices are high & service is the worst! The women behind the counter are rude,snobby and overall awful! It has been my experience every time I have been there. Last time I was in they were going through items just brought in,talking about how dirty the consignor & her items were..loud enough for all.customers to hear. They stated other shops in the area sold bad items,& the stuff should go to those shops. The shop is horribly cramped & all items are packed on racks tightly enough to make it near impossible to browse.
