We were a party of nine on a beautiful September day. All of us have never ridden an electric bike before and some of us were very nervous. The staff at Pedego were extremely helpful in getting us ready. They adjusted seats and for me that was at least three times before we finally settled on the lowest position possible. The staff provided us instruction and encouragement. You just can't rate someone on that. I'm sorry I don't remember his name, but he kept telling me that I'll be fine and you never forget how to ride a bike. He said it multiple times. You know what? He was right. We had a fantastic time and I didn't want to get off the bike when we got back. We decided to do our own tour with a provided map from Pedego. We did have to go out into the street a small amount of time. Our first stop was the historic Mt. Olivet Cemetery where you will find famous inhabitants like Francis Scott Key. The cemetery was the perfect place for us to acclimate ourselves. I kept thinking if I fall, at least I will fall on grass (or a headstone but I think I'll hit grass first). But luckily, none of us fell. The cemetery was flat with a wide road and only a couple of cars. When we felt comfortable, we made our way to Baker Park and found a covered bridge. We rode along Carroll Creek park and then headed back to Pedego after two hours. The bikes are heavy but with the pedal assist, you will not tire out as much. LOL. I loved being able to actually look at beautiful Frederick without having to do too much work. I think anyone who knows how to ride a bike will do fine on an electric bike. You might like it more than traditional pedaling! Bring your own helmets if you have one. There is a small bag attached to the bike if you have a water bottle or other small items that you want to bring along. read more

This was an excellent experience. My wife and I were looking for bikes to purchase (just regular bikes) when we stumbled upon this electric bike shop. The bikes are super cool, and they rent them. We decided to take a couple out for a spin to see if we would like them, and did we ever!! Dee and I rode all around Frederick, MD laughing and having a great time. The bikes are comfortable, super easy to handle, and man are they fast!! 20mph doesn't sound fast, but on a bicycle... it's screaming fast (I know... my wife screamed a couple times). We're very excited to go back when my inlaws come to visit later this month. Pedego Frederick does historical/fun private tours on their bikes and the prices are SUPER reasonable. Plus the staff are so friendly and helpful (even sent us on our way with some bottles of water). We are all really looking forward to that visit. We've been going back and forth for a few months on buying new bikes and whether to go with traditional bikes or electric. We opted for electric power assist bikes because of our age, 40+ and shape. We were moving from CA to MD and decided to wait until we arrived in MD so we didn't purchase bikes and then pay to move them. I found Pedego Frederick online and they had good reviews, so I sent them an email about scheduling an appointment for my husband's birthday to see some bikes and take a test ride. Mimi got right back to me and we got it scheduled. She gave us a warm greeting when we arrived and had some bikes for us to try. She explained how electric bikes worked and the differences between the various bikes. And she answered all our questions. She walked us up the street for a test ride in the nearby school parking lot. She felt knowledgeable and kind. We decided to buy two bikes, which were not cheap. Honestly, the price was more than we wanted to spend, but the bikes felt quality and the service was excellent. They had a bike for my husband in stock, but had to order one for me. So she let me take one of their rental bikes (same as the one I ordered) as a loaner while we waited for mine to come in, which sealed the deal for us. We wanted to be able to start riding immediately. Price point not withstanding, I really liked Mimi and Pedego Frederick and would highly recommend them. read more

Mimi and Tom were terrific both personally and professionally. They brought two bikes (and a helmet) out to my house to test ride. I decided almost right away I wanted the Interceptor and they gave me an orientation on the bike and l took it for a spin. I was sold, so we went over all of their recommendations (like a mirror) and other options (luggage) - no upselling, just the straight scoop on available accessories priced low and high and the pros and cons of each. We exchanged several emails as the bike was put together. They delivered the bike to the house four days later and gave me a more detailed explanation of how the bike and accessories work. I called to make a reservation for my son, husband, and myself to rent bikes for two hours. I was asked what our heights are, but not our ages. We drove 45 mins only to THEN be told that there is an age restriction of 16 years (my son is as tall as most 16 yo's, but he's only 14). No where on the website is that policy stated. Following hip and back surgery, I found it difficult to ride my bike up hills. So I researched ebikes, and found the Pedego Electric bike shop in Frederick, MD. One of the owners of the shop, Mimi Zee, was extremely helpful in educating me on electric bikes. Learning about an electric bike allowed me to pick a bike that met my immediate needs. I was able to test ride a couple of bikes, and found I could still pedal the bike on flat paths, and when I reached a hill, I could use the throttle to assist me when I am pedaling up a hill. It was amazing to be able to feel so comfortable bike riding up hills and finally enjoy riding again. What was so great about the Frederick Maryland Pedego shop was that they fully service and maintain the bikes they sell, and they assembled the new bike and delivered it to my home. Since ebikes are heavier than regular bikes, I bought a bike rack from the Frederick store that makes taking trips with an electric bike easier to handle since the rack has a ramp to roll the bike up on it. My wife and I did one hour rentals and it couldn't have been better organized. We had well prepared bikes and were given suggested routes to take. We chose the Mt. Olivet cemetery route and not only got to experience electric bikes, but also learned about the history of Frederick. Being a motorcycle rider I was more comfortable with the controls, but the serene setting of Mt. Olivet was an ideal place for my wife to become acclimated. read more

My knee surgery knocked me down for a bit, but the electric bike from Pedego (Frederick) got me back on my feet. My physical therapist recommended it- it has helped with strength training. I recently purchased an eBike from Pedego's Frederick store and I couldn't be happier with the bike or their outstanding service. Their eBikes are great. They have many models to choose from and there were a couple of bikes that met my specific needs and requirements. The owner and manager, Mimi, could not have provided better service. She spent a significant amount of time orienting me to the bikes and teaching me how to safely operate them (safety was specifically emphasized at all times), and then I was able to do extensive test drive drives with the models I was interested in. She was extremely responsive in follow up emails and phone calls throughout the purchasing process (and even after I had the bike when I had some follow-up questions). Once my eBike came in they assembled it and had me come in and test it, and then they delivered it to my house. Their technician, Todd, showed me how to make adjustments and oriented me to my bike and he could not have been nicer. What sets this bike shop apart from others (especially the online eBike stores) is the personalized service and great follow-up support. When purchasing an eBike they include a 100 mile and 1000 mile tune-up. Also, Pedego has a five year warranty, and if you purchase one of their locks the warranty includes theft. Overall, it is a wonderful bike shop with the friendliest staff I have encountered in a long time and I strongly recommend them. It is the perfect neighborhood eBike shop! read more
