Long time Yelp user who's never left a review in their life, but that changes today!! Why? Because Pee Wee's is that good. My partner and I were traveling to Quad Cities on a little day trip. We came across Pee Wee's on Yelp and decided we should give it a try. One of the greatest decisions we've ever made. A cute little corner establishment, the owner, Big Will, was behind the counter taking orders. We got the 2 piece white meat chicken, cornbread, greens, mac & cheese, candied yams, red beans & rice, peach cobbler, and a slice of sweet potato pie. All of this totaled ~ $40 and was a perfect filling meal for 2 people. While we waited, Big Will chatted us up. He started Pee Wee's 8 years ago, made it through the challenges of a pandemic, and now runs the restaurant as a takeout only place. Need somewhere to sit? Take Big Will's recommendation (with excellent analog directions provided) and eat alongside the river just a few minutes down the road. With some of the most breathtaking views of the Mississippi in front of us, my partner and I sat in our car and dug into the most insanely good meal. The chicken was so juicy and beautifully seasoned. The yams were like all the flavors of fall in a cup. The greens were indescribably good. The red beans & rice was excellent. The peach cobbler was a treat. I really cannot recommend this place enough. I was smiling through the whole meal. I'm smiling writing this review remembering it :)

Food was DELICIOUS. VERY flavorful. There wasn't a single thing that wasn't amazing. Best soul food I've had from a restaurant. The whole staff if very professional, but also very nice & personable from the nice lady at the counter, to the cook, to the owner. The inside is clean & there's always soul music playing. Nice place overall. I'll definitely be coming back.

Absolutely delicious and more than reasonable! Everything was freshly cooked. We had a shrimp basket, chicken basket, Mac n cheese and peach cobbler. Go now!

Some of the best soul/creole food I've tasted in the quad cities!! Everything is packed with flavor! When I walked in the doors and saw grandma at the counter I just knew it was gonna be good. Omgg that peach cobbler was sooo good. It's definitely a taste of home

What can I really say about this place other than "Ermagherd!" After a week of trying various eateries all over Quad-Cities I'm so glad I found this place. It's off the beaten path in a residential neighborhood. It appears to have been a converted home and can easily be missed if you aren't keeping an eye out for it. This place, in my opinion, is the best eats in town. Soul food at its best. The people working here are by far the kindest and friendliest people around. They put a lot of work and love into their food and it definitely shows. The food and even the desserts are made from scratch. I ordered a fried catfish filet plate and was not disappointed. The plate came with two sides and cornbread. Collard Greens: Pure life altering joygasm. Yes joygasms all day because of these collard greens. You get real bits of turkey paired in well seasoned greens. A good tasting of salt and juices made for an amazing party in your mouth. Y'all need to try these greens. Please add this to your bucket list if you haven't already tried it. Mac and Cheese: Their mac and cheese is no frills awesomeness. Cheesy gooey goodness in every bite. There was a fair texture to it and not all mush. Plenty of flavor that unsurprisingly, pairs extremely well with the collard greens. Catfish Filet: A nice large catfish filet with perfect breading. It had a crunch and texture to it that's amazing. The catfish tasted clean and not muddy. Cooked fresh and came out hot. Breading never slid off the meat of the fish and held well. The fish went amazing with the tabletop hot sauce they had (Trappey's IIRC). Cornbread: Loved the cornbread. Had a taste that makes you want to go home and hug your family. That special nice to have side on your plate that just makes you want to smile the entire time you eat. Sweet Potato Pie: Bits of real sweet potato in the filling. Amazing... I can't even... I mean... just eat it please. All in all, this was the one establishment that I'd have to visit if I was in the area. Good, honest, down to earth delicious cooking. I've never had a meal where I just kept nodding my head in agreement at how good it was. If this place was in a major city like Los Angeles, Dallas, or New York I'd have no doubt that the food they serve would be building lines out the doors, down the streets, and around the corner. They cook their food when its ordered so its served fresh and hot. So there appears to a be a fair wait after ordering. I assume it may be good to call and order ahead if you want to mitigate your wait. Other than that, make sure you try this place and give your stomach a treat please.

*UPDATE* we came back as promised :) delicious! Tried Mac n cheese, meat pies, gumbo (the gumbo was a freebie!) again crazy happy with our food! My favorite was the meat pies. Delicious filling and super thin flaky crust. I highly recommend trying them! They also do a jerk chicken, so next time we are definitely trying that! Y'all, do NOT pass up Pee Wee's!!!!!!! Let me tell you...FIRE!!! When I say we hit the jackpot, the jackpot! First off, the place is squeaky clean. Motown playing and best service in the world! There is no substitution for honest and friendly people. That will keep a business running even during a recession! Darcy at the front taking our order is a gem. She had us try a sample of their take on red beans and rice and it was literally the best I've ever had. No joke. So naturally that was ordered as a side. The owner was there working and making suggestions and just being an overall nice person right along with the rest of the workers. Asked about us and talked back and forth about our travels. We felt really welcome and honored to be treated so We went with their suggestions and had Ox tails (only available on the weekends), French fries, red beans and rice, fried chicken wings, and cornbread. Ox tails - rich smooth gravy with carrots. Hubby was very pleased and I loved it as well. French fries - fresh cut and delicious. Lightly salted. Red beans and rice aka my soul mate - so good. Beans soft but not over cooked. Rice cooked perfectly. Made with pork andouille sausage peppers, onions, etc. the flavor was phenomenal. Slightly spicy. You HAVE to try this dish! Fried chicken wings - Golden and crispy and light! I didn't have to fight to get it off the bone, it just slid right off. The pieces are the right size not those jumbo wings that are flavorless. They even cut their own chicken pieces. So impressed! Cornbread - fluffy and sweet and moist! Best I've had outside of Louisiana. We are going to be back in the area in 2 weeks and will definitely be back. I have to try the greens and the meat pies when we come back. I feel like the red snapper is about to happen too!

We had the breakfast and it was delicious and satisfying. The pancakes were buttery and light. The veggie omlette was fresh. The ice tea and lemonade was the bomb. The restaurant was clean and reminded us of those down home neighborhood places. We met the owner and staff and they're nice and friendly. read more

What a gem to have in the Rock Island neighborhoods! Friendly and accommodating service with great food! Restaurant was clean but slightly chilly with multiple fans and vents blowing air. It was a non issue as the manager(?) happily turned them off at our request. We went there for lunch and ordered a shrimp po boy with greens, fried chicken, Chicago style hotdog, side salad and the red snapper. Everyone enjoyed their food and felt that they received their money's worth. The homemade peach cobbler was delicious! You can tell that everything is scratch made. The owner came out and spent some time with us and was as friendly as you could possibly ever want. Overall a great first experience!!!!! Well done Pee Wee's! read more

Carry out only for now. Fabulous Red snapper. Ordered the boudin, it is a long ways to Louisiana. Not bad, just different. Maybe overcooked. Shrimp Po boy had good bread and great sauce. I will return to try the ox tails. read more

Great food and wonderful staff!! We love to support small local businesses and this establishment did not disappoint. We really enjoyed the seafood gumbo. If you order the amazing smothered chicken for take out, order gravy on side. Fries, mac/cheese, and collard greens were delicious. Coleslaw was extremely unique and not your run of the mill sweet slaw. You can taste the love that goes into this food! read more

Awesome spot! The catfish po'boy was ordered and quickly consumed by the boyfriend and he was in love. The sauce was spectacular. The bread was delicious. Just a fabulous sandwich. Their fries were deliciously greasy - the best way. I was talked into the peach cobbler and it was excellent. The owner's mother was so lovely and the owner was great too! This place is amazing!! Great family own and run restaurant in Rock Island. These folks will make you feel welcome the moment you walk in and then follow up with great food. The terms "Home Cooking" or "Soul Food" are often nothing but a cliche but here they more than fit. We had the fried chicken and it might be the best I ever eaten. The sides we ordered were also first rate. We finished it off with the peach cobbler and couldn't be happier. read more

Not that Pee Wee's really needs my review, because it is getting rave reviews! WOW! Just a great place...I loved the chicken and andouille gumbo, the friend green tomatoes, the meat pie, the corn bread,and the fabulous peach cobbler! All were awesome. I must say though that the peach cobbler was the best I have ever had. I did not try it, but the catfish looked really good. Can't wait to bring my husband here! The owners are a delightfully warm family, sons and mom team. The only bad thing is that I live in Naperville and not in Rock Island, so I can only eat at Pee Wee's a couple of times per year. I highly recommend trying this out.... read more

Fantastic food fantastic service. I was a bit nervous to tell them my snapper was over cooked. When I told them they kindly gave me a different piece of fish. I had snapper dinner with greens and Mac. My friends and i shared meat pies and fried green tomToes. Everything was excellent even the pecan pie. Thank you rock island for bringing the soul! Today was my first time trying Pee Wees and it was great! The staff was friendly and very welcoming. I ordered carry out and all my food was still hot when I got back to work. The food was great! I have only had Pee Wees one time, I got carry out. For $20 I got an entire fried chicken, corn bread, and two sides, you can't beat that! The chicken was delicious, not greasy and the perfect breading. Corn bread is amazing and the sides are tasty too. Can't wait to try some of the po boys! read more

Sweet Jeebus this food is good!! Had the catfish po'boy (superb frying technique and homemade remoulade sauce), the sweet potato pie (dense with spice and flavor and NOT TOO SWEET) and the red beans and rice (just the right amount of heat and fresh sausage too.) Delicious! The catfish is perfectly cooked, the gumbo is yummy, the peach cobbler amazing. I tasted my mom's meat pie and I'll definitely get that next time. The atmosphere is bright and positive, and the family feeling there is warm and welcoming. The owner greeted and thanked every person who came in and out. Ate there on a Friday night, the owner and the staff was all very friendly. The wife and I shared their smothered chicken. Was fantastic. The chicken was moist and tender, we put the gravy over the mashed potatoes, very delicious. The greens are amazing. We can't wait to get back and do the red beans and rice. In town on business, saw the yelp reviews on this place and said we need to try this place for lunch. Glad we did. The food was outstanding. Real nice people. Going back today! Can't wait. This is only the second 5 Star I have ever given. Catfish and chicken seem to be the specialties but I can tell you the red beans and rice was outstanding! Keep up the good work. I had dinner there with my family and the food was amazing! The catfish po' boy was perfectly cooked and seasoned and the chicken gumbo hit the spot. What make Pee Wees stand out to me was how much the owners cared and how friendly the environment was. The owners were coming out to talk to everyone about the food, baseball, and made sure you felt like you belonged there. I can't wait to go back. read more

Tasty Food and Great Hospitality! In town from California for a funeral and found Pee Wees with the help of Yelp. I really liked the jerk chicken. The sweet potatoes were not too sweet, and the greens were soft and not too salty. The pies were great too. Everything we had was great. I will be back the next time I'm in town! read more

The candied yams were very good and the corn bread and Mac and cheese were both pretty good as well. We will definitely be back on a Thursday to enjoy the fried tacos! The person working also came out and checked to make sure everything was good. There was a nice personal touch to the food and the whole experience. We also appreciated the location because it gave our son a fun little area to play in and stay occupied. He loved the puppet show and the whole space was just very inviting and clean.
