TLDR: I was overcharged bc Gary is rude but my drink was PERFECT! I'm a former peetnik of 2 years and when I say I was treated horribly....it was awful. Went to show my mom around Harvard and it was raining so we ducked into Peets (loyalty be I love Peets) she needed to use the restroom and there was no toilet paper nor toilet seat covers. Gary was very rude when I asked kindly (I understand coffee rushes very well) he grabbed the key rudely out of my hand and scoffed at me. I then went to order. He seemed new and I give all leniency to that because I understand that it's hard to learn the register. I asked for a medium hot chocolate with sharffenberger steamed into whole milk. No sauces, no whipped cream. I gave him a moment and then Gary interrupts him and says we have no button for that. Just charge her for an extra sauce. My mom ordered a jade mist organic tea-he charged her for a jasmine Downey pearls (rare tea is more expensive) I hand him a coupon for a free medium and then he only takes a small coffee credit off my bill. I just let it be. Gary was telling me very rudely that I couldn't use two coupons. I asked for 2 transactions. I've dealt with my fair share of rude customers as a barista. I understand that being patient is hard and I'm forgiving of people in customer service. I go to the barista and I see her dumping javiva powder in my cup with chocolate syrup. I told her kindly that I just wanted a hot cocoa with sharffenberger and whole milk nothing else. She got it in 2 seconds. Yay. Drink turned out PERFECTLY. Nice barista-shitty shift lead Gary. Stopped in today for an iced coffee before I got on the train. First I had to wait while the kid on register was done talking to his coworkers about absolutely nothing work related. Typically when you walk up to take someone's order you address them, this clown was staring at me for a good couple seconds (long enough for it to be awkward) before asking me what I wanted. I'm sorry but it's the service industry I know it's not glamorous but it's your job, be courteous to the customers....of no one comes in then they don't need you. Asked for a large, no large cups which happens no big deal, but again the awkwardness "we are out of large cups........". OK GREAT whats the next size, make a suggestion, some places just have a large or a small dude just do your job! Lastly I asked for lite ice in the cup, the kid filled it with ice. Basically what I'm getting here is the kid serves coffee for a living which he is obviously not happy about so he is taking it out on the customers. The only reason I have two stars is because Peets coffee is good, other than that it's not worth getting an attitude for a cup of coffee so I'll be going to Starbucks from now on read more

Great location right in the middle of the shopping disctrict just off Harvard Square. I've only had the coffee here (medium, half-caf is the order as of late). I like Peet's coffee - much to the chagrin of coffee snobs, I can't taste that much difference from Starbuck's. Maybe slightly less burned-bean taste, but only slightly. read more

Staff are nice enough, Peet's coffee is Peet's coffee. What sets these guys apart is their wifi. Came to try and do a ten minute task on my laptop before rehearsal, spent ten minutes trying to get on wifi instead. Try elsewhere if you want usable wifi. read more

totally agree with marissa - the service is sllllooooowww and its a fight for a table, but worth it. this is a nice place to study, people watch or meet up with friends. read more

Ordered a few drinks as it started pouring outside. The drinks were all mediocre except for one- the hot chocolate. It was... horrible. I took one sip and threw it away. It had absolutely no flavor. It appeared the person may have been new and made it wrong. read more

Great coffee to go......hung over.....cant find a better place. Screw starbucks, go to peets! Everyone say's "blah blah forget about corporate coffee" you know what, i'll bet they buy band-aids, i'll bet they buy special K, i'll bet they buy kleenex, how about the sony tv they're watching. Wake up, local coffee houses are corporations, and if they have the best coffee, i'll go there. Life is about quality not ideals. Any coffee you buy was harvested by some 12year old colombian girl. Best. Mocha. Ever. I understand it's Harvard Square so it's bound to be busy and whatnot, and sometimes it's difficult to find a seat but I never leave without finding a spot to sit and read. Peet's is a favorite! read more

personally, i dig this place. they are far more laid back & far less snooty than the buck, which may be shocking considering the surrounding folk in the neighborhood. try the pumpkin latte; it find it a little less sweet than most i've had, which i'm def into. also, they'll make your eggnog latte half soy if you need it... i thought that was pretty awesome. ahhh, the simple life. read more

I came in today to buy a lot of beans. I love Peet's Coffee. Been coming here as a regular for very long time. I was helped by Dmitry who was very nice and well informed on the different kinds of beans there were. He also gave great suggestions based on his own preference and to match up with what I was looking for in brewing my own coffee. It's always refreshing to see employees who truly know what they are serving their customers!!! Great! I lived through Peet's's mid-2016 remodeling and temporary takeover of their business by Capital One. The CO people were fully friendly, and understanding of my fetish about getting the grind number right, and it was almost like being at Peet's. Now Peet's is back in its spiffy new environment (at the same old place) and it was so fine to revisit. They seem to be functioning nearly as before, i.e. beautifully except for (by my take) a really trivial gripe or possibly two. I'm reciting these because they may or may not indicate a needed change (or just serve to identify me as a crank); but staff can decide. First, when I buy ground coffee, I often also get the free or discounted cup of coffee that is offered with it. I choose a medium or small latte macchiato. This most recent time (Gripe 1) the milk wasn't frothed (though the coffee tasted fine). I don't know if this was me distracting the barista ("How do you like your new layout?") or a functional problem. Anyway, coffee in hand I went for the sugar. (Gripe 2) There were a couple of synthetics in packets but the true sugar was in a shaker, which makes it hard to guess at the size of the dose. I hope to see the light brown packets of "natural" sugar as before, plus packets of "table" (white) sugar if you like. A shaker is not very helpful though you can always shake it into your hand. I said trivial didn't I? Finally, I'm sure glad you folks are back and wish you many years of success. In case anyone is listening in top management I'd just like to vote for resumption of the teas you used to carry, including Peet's Lapsang Souchong, but I understand if it's unreasonable since you can't run time backwards like that. I used to just pass peets and go to places like Darwin's. But my out of town friend wanted to go there so I reluctantly did---and I'm so happy I did-- I ordered green tea matcha latte and I could taste some authentic matcha in it-- unlike the ones I find everywhere else. We had a nice tea time :) in peets! read more

Nice spot. Great coffee. Pet peeve is whenever I go to put milk in my coffee, if its the least but busy the milk station is always always a wreck. Milk empty. Out of everything. Requires a trip back to the counter to get it. Annoying. read more

I had an iced chai---it was AWFUL. It was a plastic cup full of ice and milk with NO flavor---terrible and they should be ashamed to serve that and charge $3.85. I won't visit any Peet's again, and will discontinue my purchases of their beans, which I was doing regularly. In addition the tables outside were dirty, with birds swarmed all over them, so I was unable to sit there. read more

got a cappuccino from here, it's literally undrinkable. it just tastes completely burnt, i couldnt take a sip without immediately following it with water. i don't mind strong coffee, but this is just ridiculous. read more
