I like Peggy. She's a nice person. However the cot she uses for some of her treatments is very uncomfortable. There appears to be a more comfortable bed that she uses but not for every treatment. I came in for a facial with extractions which is one of her more basic treatments. I hurt my ankle climbing onto her small cot because my foot made contact with the heavy metal frame (big bruises on my ankle after impact on metal frame). There's several blankets but no mattress pad on a hard metal frame and the blankets were lumpy and uncomfortable to lay on top. She should put a thick pad on top of the metal cot so people don't get hurt like I did. Be careful if you have to use her small cot or request to use her more professional bed which she has on display next to this uncomfortable and dangerous hard cot. I have never seen anyone use this kind of cheap and unsafe set-up for a facial bed. Sad. The treatment itself was 50 minutes and involved a lot of hot towels, steaming and chemicals. Since I use tretinon which is a prescription strength retinol, my skin is very sensitive. Everything Peggy put on my skin including aloe vera burnt. The experience was unpleasant. Peggy herself was coughing a lot in the beginning of the treatment. The prices have increased a little bit from the website. Peggy gave me the website price after I pointed it out and I tipped her too. Update: I told Peggy that I wanted one particular milia extracted and this morning I noticed that it was not completely gone. Very disappointed, especially after her cot hurt my ankle. read more

The studio was very clean and comfortable, conveniently located on Solano Ave in Berkeley. Peggy was very thorough with her screening to be sure everything she did was safe and comfortable for my needs and skin. She then reviewed everything she would do for the facial I had booked. I needed extractions for under the skin breakouts, which she did while explaining how they came about and how to help them from recurring. I looked better the next day even after these, she was gentle and skilled, witha lovely manner and highly experienced. I enthusiastically recommend her and I'm planning to return regularly. This is a place to go for results, not a spa day. Also Peggy's prices were significantly better than all the local competitors. She asked me questions to figure out what my lifestyle is like and what my needs were and then tailored her treatment accordingly. Since I'm outside a lot she always offers to put on sunscreen during the appointment. Not only is it a face skin treatment but for me it's a face massage as well. I must say Peggy did an excellent job accessing my moms skin concern and recommended her a European facial. My mom has dry skin and she has never like any facial as much as this one. I am early forties and have been getting monthly facials with Peggy Lee for more than a year. I highly recommend her services. She is very flexible in scheduling, she's got a variety of services (I started off with a hydrating facial and have recently upgraded to the luxe lift facial) and the new location is excellent (a calm and quiet space above Solano). I always come away feeling relaxed and glowy and feel that I am finally on the right track with my maturing skin. I was very happy with the hydrating facial as there's so many steps involved which makes it feel like the pinnacle of pampering. But I'm starting to take a more proactive approach to my naturally aging and hence shifted to the luxe lift facial. Even during an allergic flare up - I was uncertain if I should keep my appt for fear of irritating my skin worse and she was able to pivot to a gentler facial that kept me hydrated and with no further agitation. When I came in first, Peggy (the owner of Vivian's skin care, Vivian herself has retired a while ago) was very patient and suggested a maintenance plan that is achievable. I've never done continuous facial care for myself before but she didn't guilt me. She did give suggestions on a few products and why one'd need them. I don't find her pushy about them at all. I treat myself to facials only every so often, usually around my birthday. As I get older, I do realize the importance of getting them done more frequently and was very happy to have met Peggy and work with her for the first time this year! I loved the calming atmosphere and individualized attention of her salon, as well as the fact that she explained each step of my facial to me. My skin was left so smooth and radiant that I couldn't stop touching it after. I also felt very reassured and safe with her covid operations, especially as other institutions have become much more lax with the downward trend of positive cases (I'm one of those people who is still being as careful as possible even though I'm fully vaxxed and boostered). I have been going to Peggy for years ,but this is the first time getting green peels fresh up facial. It is not as rough as I thought it would be , but I think it depends on the person. The downtime is not as bad. There are some peeling ,flasks, and dryness. So make sure to buy good moisturizer. It takes about 5 - 7 days for those symptoms to go away , but it is totally worth it!!!! I have been a client of Peggy since 2021 and her work and services are excellent! I started with deep cleansing facial (or maybe micro dermabrasion ) but this only lasted maybe 3 or 5 or 6 mos and I switched/upgraded to Green Peel Mela White-Bright (after my sister tried it, she goes to her too whenever she can) , yes more expensive but more favorable result. I go every 4 weeks, and since I started this treatment almost 3 years now, my breakouts have gone from 1 or 2 to zero to this date. My face is clearer, and lighter, no noticeable wrinkles (probably only when I smile too much that you see some lines around when you look closer), what I love most is my face is softer I would say and friends have noticed even skin tone and younger looking me (i'm 51yo). When I started this treatment, I did experience peeling and redness in the next 2 days and would last till day 3 after visit to 5 to 6 days (so total of 4 days or so) but after that it is gone and you will notice a clearer face. Because I have been doing this for quite a long time now, I dont have anymore peeling or redness, when I do get it (sometimes (or occasionally) only last 2 days on top and very light, not as red and peeling as the first few months. I highly recommend this treatment and make it your maintenance /routine every month, I guarantee you will see a satisfying result eventually. Peggy works very gentle on your skin as you may feel some uneasiness(or perhaps light pressure) at first (meaning its not like cleanser smooth feeling, its like scrubbing, if you have experience 1st time body scrub, its similar to that) but overtime it will be normal feeling of scrubbing with no pressure feeling, its relaxing. She is also not a sales person type which I love, not pushy to buy her beauty products, unless she really thinks you needed it to facilitate a more favorable result, even that, she does not put pressure. As for pricing, hers is competitive, so its the experience and the technique that I say you would go for and she has that ( I have gone through one facial lady (for few months and discontinued, before that with another facial lady for a very long time but she retired during lockdown covid period) and stayed with Peggy to this date for obvious reasons :). Overall, I strongly recommend her and this treatment for your facial service. read more

Vivian did a thorough cleansing and lightening facial for me. It was extraction to a minimum and relaxing for the remainder of the session. I was dozing on and off, which was a good sign of calmness gradually overtime. I would recommend some soothing music in the background. It would add to the ambiance. Fairly priced facials, but I wish there was more variety to the facial packages or promotional deals going on. That's when I would make the purchase. Otherwise, it's hard to promise that I will return. Facials have to be done monthly for significant improvement and I dislike how I blemish a day after. It takes a whole day for my face to tone down. I need to start making this as a priority. This is a convenient and guaranteed good spot for facials. P really knows how to give a thorough facial. Great extraction and peel. The room inside in which it's given has the thinnest walls, though. I think my star deduction comes solely from factors that do affect and influence a good experience, but that have nothing to do at all with the actual skin treatment. Booked a last minute appointment with Peggy for my first facial and wasn't sure what to expect but thought I would go in for the AHA facial. When I first got there, door was locked and I thought it was closed. But after a few minutes, Peggy unlocked the door for me, introduced herself and gave me some forms to fill out. After I was ready, she asked me some questions and led me into the room. She told me that she thought the acne facial would be better considering my concerns. This is an absolute hidden gem in the east bay! Don't be deceived by the location or low key sign. Peggy gave me a top dollar facial, complete with extractions and advice in a super clean, welcoming salon. Not once did I ever feel pressured to purchase anything. She asked what I am using because it is blocking my pores, but never offered her products. Upon leaving, I actually felt guilty that I had paid so little for the amazing 1 hour facial. ($40 on amazon local). This place is well worth the trek there, the el cerrito Bart is also close by. I've paid $100+ for facials at spas and had to pay extra for extractions, Peggy gave it all to me and I never had to ask! They really are about serving the customer, which is refreshing. It's too bad they don't have a website. When I got there, they have so much more to offer, microdermabrasion, massage, etc. will certainly be getting my facials here from now on! read more

I was getting a delicate (ahem) area groomed, and she really helped ease the pain with breathing suggestions, hand holding, and willingness to take a break when I needed it. She talked me through everything, wasn't the least bit awkward, and did a very thorough job (despite the fact my hair wasn't quite long enough...she even took time to tweeze everything left at the end).
