I had been going to my other esthetician loyally for about a year and a half and although she was good for the most part, she became really hard to get a hold of and inconsistent which started to really bother me, because I was such a loyal customer and NEVER went anywhere else. First off, I love Albany/Solano area very much, so just based off location, I really liked where she was! I called to get ideas of pricing and then soon after made an appointment for a Brazilian Wax. I think Mali was able to even take me that Saturday which was great! Immediately, after arriving, I felt comfortable right away. Mali is really wonderful because she makes you feel comfortable and is very thorough with the whole waxing process! She also takes the necessary time to do the job at hand, so you don't feel rushed. She has (in my humble opinion) THE BEST WAX!! I love the wax she using so much, because it does not hurt! Now I know everyone has a different sensitivity level/pain threshold, but the wax she uses is such a good quality that it makes the whole experience worth the price and slight discomfort you would feel from any sort of waxing treatment. I've been there for my first brazilian after months - and my first ever here in the Usa. Mali is amazing. She made me feel really comfortable, something important when you are naked! The wax she uses is gentle and doesn't leave a sticky residual on the skin, and I also believe her technique helped to make me suffer less than my usual - I have strong and coarse hair and I also shaved a few times in the last months, so the pain should have been unbearable! Mali is wonderful! This was my first time going to her and let me just say I don't regret one bit of it. She was gracious enough to see me at a last minute notice for an eyebrow wax and she was so friendly. As soon as I walked in to her salon I was really relaxed, she provides a calming atmosphere. The wait wasn't long and I was out of there in less than 15minutes. The wax that she used was purely amazing, it was painless and fast and she didn't have to use the strip. She was very helpful in making sure that my eyebrows weren't too thin (I don't grow a lot of hair on my brows so it takes me a while to really let them grow to the layer of thickness that I want) and she made sure that they still complimented my face. At the end of it my eyebrows looked great and there was no puffiness nor redness on my brow area. I'm definitely going to come back to her again and I recommend that people try her! read more

I have been going to Mali for years (even before she was in her current lovely location). If you are looking for a place where you can get your upper lip waxed and still go out to meet friends right after (i.e. not have to run home to hide how red and bruised you are), then Mali is your woman. She uses excellent, very high end products and she is incredibly thorough and professional. I have also had facials with Mali and always leave feeling like my pores are SO much happier. (I have super sensitive skin and looked for a long time to find a moisturizer that was thick enough to actually do the job, but not make me break out--I use the Matrix skincare stuff that she sells at the salon for both day and night now, and it's all I need.) Today was a great day, in large part thanks to Mali and her fantastic abilities as an esthetician! Granted this was only the 4th facial that I had ever gotten (all from very nice spas in the bay area), but it was by far the best one! She used high quality (and great smelling) products, had a very nice room with soothing background music, was very gentle with her technique, and included a really nice amount of time on massage. She also sent me home with generous samples of face wash and lotions to try~ which I will promise I will return to buy more of when I run out :) All in all I was able to completely relax and enjoy the whole process (not always the case with facials) and I think my skin came out looking quite nice as well... I used to come here when I first started getting waxed, at first I really liked it, but the prices were almost always inconsistent, getting charged up to $80 for a Brazilian if I went even a week longer than the recommended 4 weeks because of the "amount of hair" and if ingrowns were difficult to get out. Also wouldn't wear gloves during the Brazilian procedure which can spread bacteria and increase chances of ingrowns on freshly waxed skin??? At the time I didn't know any better as it was the first place I ever had a wax, but ever since then every other place I've gone to always charges one consistent price for a service and always wears gloves. Only reason for 2 stars is because it's a cute relaxing atmosphere and the type of wax used is good. read more

I cannot express how much I LOVE Mali. She is AMAZING. I first came to her in February because I found a GroupOn for a Brazilian Wax (which are never pleasant). But Mali was very sweet and made the experience as painless as can be. I also have VERY sensitive skin and the hard wax she uses is the best, my skin was never burned or anything! I went back three weeks later to get my eyebrows done. She did an AMAZING job. I have gotten by brows done by at least five or six other places. Mali listened to me about what shape and thickness I wanted and made suggestions to me about what she thought might look best. She did an amazing job and shaped them in a manner that complimented my face. I got compliments for two weeks after saying how great they looked! The third time I went back to her get my brows done I had a few hairs that the wax couldn't grab. At other salons, they usually grab a pair of tweezers and begin to pluck away at these "stray" hairs. Mali told me that if I didn't mind coming in next week, she would give me a complimentary "clean up" using the wax to remove these stray hairs (because plucking is not optimal when compared to waxing). I came in the next week and she touched everything up for me for free (although I wanted to leave to her a tip, she did not want to accept it but I work in the service industry and always appreciate people who understand the work I do). In addition, Mali uses hard wax, which prior to Mali, I was afraid of (bad hard waxing experience which resulted in lots of blood and burning for days). Mali reassured me and converted me that this wax is the best and I would love it after wards.. I will avoid strip wax from now on, hard wax is the way to go!! She is very sweet and fast, she makes waxing less painful and is delightful to talk with. All in all Mali is AMAZING. Nobody but Mali will ever get near my eyebrows again. read more
