So much food! Giant portions, and super budget friendly. The staff has always been extremely friendly and helpful. My favorite is the complimentary tea (I don't know how I do it, but I always finish the kettle!) and the sweet and sour chicken with fried rice dish is my go-to. I think the best part about this experience was the person who answered the phone and took our order. Very kind and accommodating! The food, unfortunately was not great. We had the General Chicken, Sweet and Sour Shrimp, egg rolls , beef wontons and their version of crab rangoon. The General's Chicken was described as spicy. It was not. The chicken was plentiful but the vegetables were not. The Sweet and Sour Shrimp was ok. Not bad but just ok. Not very crispy. Very few vegetables. The eggrolls were made with ground beef which I did not care for. I prefer roasted pork. I don't actually believe I've ever had eggrolls with just ground beef in them? They had very little meat overall. They were just ok. The beef wontons had the tiniest bit of meat in them. So. So. Tiny of an amount. We used to go all the time. Now that the owners let their children take over this place it is slowly becoming less appealing. We were told at 7:35 that we have to hurry and order because the kitchen's going to close at 7:50. No one even greeted us first with a "Hello".Never have I been turned away or felt like I didn't belong in a restaurant a 1/2 hour before closing. I have worked in restaurants myself. All restaurants serve customers until the actual closing time at 8. The food quality is going down and the prices are going up. To which we all understand. But, customer service is what keeps people coming in. If you don't want to serve people until closing time posted, close earlier. I can not rate the food because we left. I can't comment on the food here as they had a sign at the door "we closed". I called on Friday to be sure they would be open, because my husband and I were driving from Cary, IL. The flippant female I spoke with on Friday said "why wouldn't we be open?" Yes in deed, why wouldn't you? A special trip of 61 miles (one way) and almost an hour and a half to celebrate our 35th wedding anniversary. We even called before we left, no answer. That didn't surprise you don't open until 11:00. How very nice of you to put on your web site at 11:00 Monday that you would not be open. You ruined what should have been a very pleasant day for us. It is rare that I find myself writing a bad review., but recently my family ordered food to go and it was horrible! We ordered the happy family and the garlic chicken. Both dishes were drowned in this salty gravy like sauce that tasted the same on both dishes with the exception that one had garlic. The vegetables were really soggy and the fake crab and scallops in the happy family were mushy and tasted bad. Not worth the money we spent. Guys. These are the BEST egg rolls I have ever eaten! They're gigantic! And the crab meat with cheese dumpling (crab rangoon) was awesome! My husband said the teriyaki beef sticks were money. I found Peking Chinese by accident! In the middle of a blizzard, it was one of only a handful of restaurants that was open, and I'm glad it was. The decor was fairly standard, but the Chinese music added to the ambiance; there was even a Chinese station on the flat screen. The menu was typical, but I felt the food was well above most Chinese restaurants. I had the vegetable soup-it was delicious and the vegetables were perfect-tasty and crisp. For my entree, I got the Schezuan Bean Curd-it was excellent! I asked for extra spicy and it was, complete with many peppers along with mushrooms. The portion was huge and it came with ample rice. We went to Janesville to go to Farm & Fleet. My boyfriend wasn't feeling all that well but he said Chinese sounded good... soup always makes you feel better, right? We had never been here before, but what the heck, give it a try. He had wonton soup, I had shrimp toast. The wonton soup had huge pieces of chicken and shrimp in it along with multiple wonton noodles. He said it wsa really terrific and he did feel better after eating it. The shrimp toast was pretty good, too. We had fried rice, sweet & sour shrimp and chow mein. We ate what we thought was a lot of the food. Then we boxed up the rest to go home and there was still an incredible amount of food left. It was all very, very good. Plenty of leftovers for lunch and the price was very reasonable. Gone here a couple times now, best place I can find so far in Janesville. Mongolian beef is great, but be warned its slathered in green onions, no mushrooms as one might expect. I happen to like the flavor it lends, but do miss the mushrooms! My daughter orders the orange chicken and it's orange-y! The crab ragoons are not your traditional but labeled as dumplings and when you get them you'll see why. So, so good! Also enjoy the egg drop soup, different than the yellow sometimes gel-like soup you can sometimes get from others... A refreshing change! I read some reviews, sounded good, so we stopped in for lunch. Chinese food should be made with fresh ingredients, and I think our first clue should have been the number of items on the menu. We started with an appetizer place which said "servers two", egg roll(2), wonton(s). I took than to mean 2 of each, yet we had to cut everything in half. The egg roll was large and it was good. Then I ordered Chicken Chop Suey. When my meal was brought to the table, I asked what it was because this dish was swimming in a brown sauce. The waitress said "Chicken Chop Suey". I have eaten in LA's and San Francisco's China town's dozens of time, this wasn't Chicken Chop Suey. This is the worst food I have ever tasted. Notice I didn't say "eaten". $60.00 and the only thing we consumed was the soft drink and my husband had Sake. We left about 5 minutes after the food was brought to the table we paid and tried to sneak out, hoping they didn't notice we left the food. The owner stopped us and said "you don't want the food to go"? My husband politely told her it wasn't what we were used to. If you really want a fresh Chinese meal, this isn't the place. And those reviewers, that rated this place as good or best in town, apparently have never eaten authentic Chinese. There is no great Chinese in Janesville, but the Panda Garden on Milwaukee Avenue is pretty good. 1 star is only for the egg roll and I wish there was a 1/2 a star option read more

I have eaten in the restaurant for many years. My experiences were the typical Friday night, Janesville, WI fare. When I started to order the same meal out, I soon realized the amount of meat was less in the take home version, than the eat in version. I am talking specifically about the Peking Steak. My latest take out version contained very little beef, and a lot of vegetables. Had I ordered this in the restaurant, the ingredient portions would have been as expected. Beware of ordering take out items that contain beef, specifically the Peking Steak dish, as the amount of beef is less (in my experience) with the take out, as it would be had I ordered in the restaurant. read more
