Was in town for family business, and my family took me to this restaurant. It's apparently been around for years and years and it's quite rustic. The staff was great! Several of us did the meals for two where you got a little grill and got to heat up your appetizers that was very tasty. I had Mongolian beef, which was very good and my husband had sweet-and-sour chicken and unfortunately, he did not really care for the sauce on the chicken. But everything else was great. The rest of my family did a meal for five people. They all liked everything they had including the fried rice, which was very good. I definitely would still come back at a later time. read more

Stopped tonight to pickup a fried rice order to go and it was so disappointing. The rice was burnt you could see the black burn marks on it and it also tasted burnt. The chicken and shrimp pieces so small and a very measly amount. I called them and they did not offer to remake or refund my money. Just making excuses. I will not be ordering from them ever again. I also had to open the door to the kitchen just to get someone's attention that I was there. How do they stay open! read more

If I could give this place zero stars, I would. We went with a big party, and we ordered several alcoholic beverages and they took well over an hour to be delivered to our table. Some of our group even had to go to the bar to be served in a timely manner. The service was awful, the waitress was rude, and the busboy was as well. While ordering, we were told that each entree came with steamed rice, so we asked if it could be swapped out with fried rice for an up charge, and to get fried rice was an $11.50 up charge. Many guests of our party ordered egg rolls on separate tabs, and they brought them out as if it was just one big order, shorting many people who actually ordered them. After ordering our entrees, our food came out 45 min to an hour later, many of the fried rice dishes were burnt and some dishes were forgotten entirely. Upon confronting the rude waitress, she says "I never double checked the order I submitted." We recently moved to the area, and love trying new places, but I guess we should've read the reviews on this place before going. Many of the 1 star reviews accurately depict our horrible experience at China Palace. read more

Went there on New Year's Eve food came out sporadic and late. We had the bus boy bag it up to go home. We left a $10 tip and gave it to the bus boy to give to the waitress which we only seen once she chased us out into the parking lot Saying no tip no tip. Friends took us to China Palace last night. This is an old school Chinese restaurant. The decor reminds me of a Wisconsin supper club with the wooden ceiling and beams. The bar area is large with lots of stained glass windows: pretty, warm and inviting in a old lodge kind of way. We started with cocktails and crab rangoons and egg rolls. These tasted homemade not just dumped from a bag with faint taste of Chinese five spice lingering in the egg rolls like I remember. The duck and mustard sauces on the table were also homemade. I really like the duck sauce which was a purée of fruit with a touch of spice and slightly chunky. I really appreciate the complimentary hot tea at the table too. Our table of 5 each chose a different entree: Cantonese plate (like a mixed grill sweet and sour), shrimp lovers delight, shrimp with lobster sauce, beef curry and sweet and sour pork. All the dishes were solid and we enjoyed them, leaving very little left. A good dinner all around with very good service. read more

I realize Christmas Eve probably wasn't the perfect time to order food from China Palace. It was some of the worst food I've had in a long time. The egg rolls were almost burned and my Sweet and Sour Pork was so over done that when I tried to put it with a knife it broke apart rather than cutting. The breading fell off and I had hard lumps of pork left. Very disappointed. The food was hot and the rice was good. read more

We found this place online and thought to try it. The China Palace is in an old supper club, which is cool. Ordered three things here- Jade Beef, Chicken Chop Suey and crab rangoons. Crab rangoons had a good crisp to it, but was very garlic tasting. Would have liked less garlic and more cream cheese. Chicken chop suey my wife had was good, but had a lack luster flavor and chicken was a bit dry. Jade Beef- excellent flavor- just needed some more sauce in the box- very weird that t did not come with rice. Overall, I'd go back, but maybe switch up what I get. read more

This place is like an old Wisconsin supper club in a good way. When I was there the giant old bar was all lit up with Christmas lights. The bar area is very nice, but it was empty on the night I was there. The restaurant is on the second level and overlooks the bar. What a cool atmosphere. The food is 80's Chinese and since that's my favorite I was at a loss what to order on the huge menu. I finally settled for orange chicken which was beyond yumminess. The orange was authentic and made fresh. It was very good. We also had the sticky ribs as an appetizer and egg rolls. It was all perfection. Two brothers were attending to our every need, while a single server took orders. We never needed for anything. I highly recommend this old gem if you want an old school experience and delicious food. read more

Went here Saturday evening of March 16th 2019 Place looks like an old 50s supper club. They weere about a third full.We ordered Mongolian Beef , Beef with BroccolI and egg rolls. It took 45 minutes .No excuse only a few tables with couples there.When food arrived the egg rolls were room tempurature cold.The entrees portions were small for dinner. Food was just ok.Nothing special. I asked the waitress for a refill on my tea.She rolled her eyes and sighed in an exaggerated manner. Then I asked again and she very nastily and aggresively said " You dont want that you'll be up peeing all night!" I was shocked she would be rude, lecture me and talk about my bodily functions while Im eating.Very nasty.Should NOT be serving people with her fowl attitude Will never go here again read more

Worst General's Chicken I have ever had. It was not crunchy and spicy as advertised. It had not one bit of pepper in it. I had to pay extra for fried rice rather than have as an option. What a great place! The food was good, we had shrimp toast, wonton soup, pork fried rice, the cantonese platter (a sweet & sour dish with chicken, pork, shrimp) and chow mein. The service was good, the atmosphere nice although it looked like a Bavarian type of restaurant with a Chinese lantern, LOL. The big reason only 4 stars... the ladies room. It is downstairs, which is fine but it looks rather "unused" and sort of dingy. I didn't find the bathroom to be dirty, just a little spooky-ooky like. It was also freezing cold down there. No hot water and I swear you could have frozen to the seat! LOL Eat there but save the trip to the bathroom until you are home! :) read more

Almost didn't go, it was mid afternoon and it looked deserted. My husband said he used to eat here as a kid and it was good. We decided to head to imperial palace in roscoe instead. After checking online reviews on both we decided to go back to china palace. We were the only guests there and there was one employee who my guess was the female owner. She was very nice. The egg drop soup and egg roll were fantastic! My entree was egg foo yong, fried rice and beef chop suey. I had never had egg foo yong and I loved it. The rice and chop suey were a bit salty for my tastes but I will definitely return for another meal. read more

We were a larger party (9) on a weeknight, and we had made reservations. However, they only had one server who was supposed to be training the new busboy (embarrassingly obvious it was his first night). The "trained" server couldn't keep track of tickets, couldn't serve food to the correct guest, couldn't run more than one ticket at a time - back and forth to the register. She was supposed to also be serving 3-4 other tables as well. Ridiculous. The busboy couldn't fill water glasses without nearly spilling on us and constantly touched the rim of the glass. He cleared our plates after apps and then brought them back to us and said he wasn't supposed to do that. It was all disgusting. The food was acceptable, but I've had better at Great Wall or even Happy Wok. read more

First of all, the food is fabulous! The service there is always speedy, and the owners are always there to say hi to us, since we are regulars. My personal favorite is the House Chicken. Yes, the décor might be a little outdated, but the food makes up for it, and it always feels like home. Don't bother trying to get Chinese and Cantonese food anywhere else. The China Palace is in a cool old building that looks like it used to be an English pub. But it is dark, musty, and even a little moldy-smelling. The food was pretty good overall. The egg rolls and soup were good. I liked the almond chicken and broccoli beef. The hot and sour soup was good. Skip the sweet and sour plate, though. It is too heavily breaded and sweet with very little flavor. So China Palace was passable to satisfy my craving for Chinese food, but it was not exceptional. read more

I've tried China Palace 3-4 times now over about a year time frame. The first time the food was amazing and we really liked it. Then we ate inside and the food wasn't that great. Tonight the food was terrible! They told me 30 minutes to pick up because they're busy....but our food was sitting on the counter when we got there. We waited like 10-15 minutes to pay....who knows why. The chicken chop suey was horribly bland like water was dumped in there. The beef fried rice was ok not great. And I didn't get any duck sauce with the egg roll. Not sure we will be back. read more

First time here, party of four on a Sunday evening. Service was a bit slow but we were not in any hurry. Menu was very typical of a Chinese restaurant. Egg rolls first, they were good but nothing special. Dinners came quick. The chicken chow mein had more chicken than most places put in their dinners.
