We ordered an appetizer platter that has Avocado egg roll, fried shrimp, and dumplings. The Avocado egg roll was unexpectedly good. The wrapper they used was the thinner one, so it's crispy and with creamy filling. There were plenty of the entrees to select. They also offered spice level from zero to five. If you like spicy buffalo wings, then you probably could start with spice level three and up. Also, you can select your proteins and even carb (rice, noodles, or veggies). What a wonderful experience my book club and I had here!! We came to discuss The Women so it fit the theme. We easily found seating for the 7 of us. Our server was AMAZING. I rarely tip as high as I did but she EARNED it. She was so friendly and accommodated us so well. We ordered a few apps which were both great. The gyoza had a crab Rangoon batter which I really enjoyed. The avocado roll was filled with lots of cream cheese and avocado! Moving on to the main courses I enjoyed being able to customize. From rice to noodles to different spice levels. You could try every menu item and still have 6 other ways to try it! The standout for me was the Thai iced tea!!!! Sooooo yummy! Always amazing food! Best food in the area. Love their veggie and their shrimp summer rolls. Their curry, their ginger soup, house fried rice. Everything is wonderful. The only thing I wouldn't get again is the steak teriyaki. It was not as outstanding as all their other dishes! Jan 20: Tried to call a pick up order + phone call would not go through. It kept saying that voicemail was not set up. I think someone left the phone off the hook. I went through their website and selected their online pick up: smile dining and it charges $7.54 service charge plus the prices were higher. I found out later, it would have been cheaper to select delivery option, then to choose pick up. Then there was no service fee. They should honestly take the smile dining off their website. I've been here a few times now and I always end up coming back because the food itself is so good. The service is often lacking with rude or slow and inattentive staff. My friend and I always order the pad Thai and the coconut soup and both dishes hit the spot every time when we eat in the restaurant. The drinks were really tasty too, even though they took quite a while to arrive. The same goes for the food, but once it landed on the table it was worth the wait. The one downside for me is that the takeout just doesn't compare. Every time we've tried getting it to go, the flavors haven't been nearly as rich or balanced as when we eat inside. Because of that we'll stick to dining in, since that's clearly where this place shines. Overall I'd still give it four stars because when it's good, it's really good. read more

SAFE time!! SERVICE - the waitresses and hostesses at Sandee's are hometown class. They want you to have a nice experience and it shows, demure, sweet and a bit sassy for fun (if that's how you roll). AMBIANCE - though it's a cozy little spot nested between other small businesses, it brings the feel of Thailand right to your table with its murals and artwork. You can come as you are in jeans or a prom night. FOOD - they've got some great menu items, I tried the Tom yum ramen special and most dishes I've had hit the spot. They let you choose your spice level 0-5 and there is a nice variety of exotic flavors you can't get elsewhere in Janesville. The soups are delish, and the Penang curry is fantastic! **Definitely Thai Fusion** Quiet night when we arrived, there were about 4 other couples or family of three. Waited bout 2 minutes before we were greeted and seated. The waitress was very nice and the place was nicely decorated and clean. **Only serves chicken, tofu, fish/seafood. *No beef or pork* We started with the Calamari for appetizers, and it came with a watery sweet chili sauce you'd get most at most Asian restaurants. No complaints. We ordered Pad Thai, Thai Spicy Basil, and House Noodle Soup. The pad thai was good, just like most authentic Pad Thai, in my opinion. The House Noodle soup was hoping to be something similar to pho, but it's not. Clear vegetable soup with choice of chicken, flavorful but not what I was expecting. I was hoping for the Thai Spicy Basil to be Pad Kao Pow, but it's not but was still good. Quite simply some of the best Thai food I've had anywhere. I was genuinely surprised to find a place of this caliber in Janesville. The flavor, freshness, and care in every dish were unmistakable. Like all well-crafted food, each plate is prepared with intention, and that care comes through in every bite. Be patient and supportive--especially on a busy night--the staff works hard, and the quality is absolutely worth it. Chef and owner Beer clearly takes pride in every detail. The staff--Chantal, Fon, and Daylena--are outstanding: knowledgeable, welcoming, and professional. They go above and beyond to make you feel cared for. They're locals who support their families and bring real value to the community. Be sure to tip them well. We were only in Janesville for the weekend and came two nights in a row, both times with friends. Everyone at our table was impressed. I highly recommend the Shrimp Bacon Wrap--crispy, savory, and perfectly balanced with a sweet plum sauce--and the Garlic Black Pepper Chicken, which had just the right kick and was beautifully presented with cucumber and tomato. The Panang Curry was another standout: creamy, rich, and deeply flavorful. You can't go wrong with anything on the menu. My dining experience on August 16 was poor. After ordering 2 items from the menu, we had to wait over 30 min for the food to arrive. After waiting for approximately 20 min, we asked one of the servers about the status of our order and were told that they were working on it. After 25 min, we asked a 2nd server about the status of the order and told that kitchen burners, to prepare food, are limited and that is why the order took so long to complete. I went to lunch for the first time at Sandee's Thai Fusion, after wanting to eat there for years. I walked in and there were several tables open and available. I walked to the bar and asked where I should be seated, they stated anywhere was fine. I sat at a table seat table in the middle of the dining room and looked over the menu online as I awaited a server to appear. After about ten minutes, one surfaces and room my order. The Food: I ordered the spicy Thai soup at a spice level 5 on a 1-5 scale and the entree from the recommendation portion of the menu, Pla Rad Prik. The Pla Rad Prik was described as being "A Must Try! Crispy Grouper delicately cooked with favorite Thai sweet garlic chili sauce plate over steamed broccoli and carrots and topped with crispy basil." The Thai soup was delicious, hot and spicy, just asK had hoped. It was incredibly flavorful and I was glad to have w picked that. I am still thinking about it as I sit to write this, yum! The Pla Rad Prik was decent, the fish was crispy on the outside and tender on the inside, which was perfect. The sauce was sweet and tangy, I had hoped it would also be a level 5 spicy, but it was forgotten--(the waitress did bring over a carousel of spicy seasonings to remedy this. I sprinkled on some chili powder, but it didn't help much. The Jasmine rice and veggies were decent as well, fresh and crispy. Ambiance: It was decently decorated, had a very Midwest feel to it. It was perfect for taking a book and doing some reading while enjoying a meal. Dessert: I ordered the mango sticky rice to go and they packed it up very nice and neat way for me. It tasted very good, I'm a huge fan of sticky rice so I really enjoyed it. I forgot to take a picture of it, but it was tasty nonetheless. The Pricing: Very reasonably priced for the serving of food you get. Overall: It was a enjoyable meal. I don't like eating this low, but unfortunately it was earned. An hour wait time was explained when take out was ordered. Upon arrival we waited another hour before it was ready. Needless to say upon returning home extremely hungry there was no rice included. The photo shows the order after unwrapped. The restaurant appeared under staffed as usual post Covid, however if this was the case they should focus on dine in only, as it was packed which is good. Upon calling to explain, I needed to call 2 times because no one picked up. There was no offer to comp or make it right. Sadly, these problems have happened other times before. The food is good, but not worth the extreme wait time and poor service. We will try someplace else from now on. I hope these concerns are addressed. read more

It was just ok. The spice and flavor were both lacking. Even the Thai Hot was barely mildly spicy. MASSAMAN CURRY - it was very sweet. I ordered level hot but it was not even remotely spicy. Also the container was 1/2 full, which I have never seen when ordering curry to go. CURRY FRIED RICE - ordered with tofu, spice level hot. It was not at all spicy. It was ok. BASIL FRIED RICE - ordered with tofu at spice level Thai hot. I don't know how, but it also managed to have zero spice. It lacked the flavor that I so love in this dish. This was very disappointing. Grabbed takeout from here on a Friday night after doing some hiking in Janesville. They were running a little behind on the order pickup time, but that's okay cause they were busy. We ended up ordering the summer rolls plus shrimp, avocado rolls, kow soi hot, and the green curry extra hot. The summer rolls with shrimp were my favorite thing as they were all veggie with three pieces of large shrimp. Add the shrimp! The dipping sauce was interesting because it felt more peanut buttery than most dipping sauces, it was also more the consistency of peanut butter than a thin sauce. My friend thought the avocado rolls were pretty good. I've just never understood the want to deep fry avocado, so I cant judge them, but they were pretty creamy. The kow soi was unique in that it came in two containers of one for the noodles, cabbage, and red onions and the other container was the broth. We asked for it hot, but I would say that it was more a medium, decent taste though. The green curry we got with chicken and it had beans, peppers and onions. This one we asked for extra hot, and while there was some spice, I wouldn't have called it extra hot. Next time I guess I'll have to try the thai hot to see how spicy it can actually get. read more

I think Sandee's is the first Thai-Sushi restaurant I've dined in. I stuck to the Thai menu, but the sushi options looked good as well. The Thai part of the menu stuck pretty close to the typical dishes you expect to see, and they offer a wide range of protein options for all of them, which is always a good thing. I love spicy food, and ordering my soup and entree at the upper end of their spice range did not disappoint. Both were flavorful, with lots of fresh vegetables, and a serious kick. Although the dining room was pretty busy when I was there, service was prompt and it wasn't so loud that you can't hear yourself think. I definitely plan to eat here again and try more of the menu. read more

My son and daughter in law recommended this restaurant, so we stopped for takeout on the way to visit. I ordered an appetizer of calamari and green curry with shrimp, and extra shrimp with fried rice. I was a little worried that I had ordered too much food for myself. The order was ready, on time, and the staff was pleasant. The calamari was lightly breaded, crisp and delicious. Unfortunately, the portion seemed very small. My curry was very thin, like watery soup, with sparse peppers and onions. The shrimp were small and about what I would expect for a regular amount, not double, as I had ordered. The curry ran through the rice and had little flavor. The fried rice was barely different from the plain white rice. I was very disappointed but rest of the family enjoyed their meals. I would be willing to give the restaurant another try, but would not be ordering the green curry again. read more

I'm not a one star review leaver, so since this is the only Thai joint in Janesville for now, I'll just let y'all know, I've resolved myself to the fact that I'm not getting Thai food again until I'm either out of town, or until someone else opens up another restaurant. The majority of the food you're going to get there, it's not going to make a big difference if you're eating it piping hot right there, or after you take it home. It'll travel just fine. And I totally get that a lot of places are under staffed. But I think you should probably set people's expectation's accordingly. They're going to tell you it's going to be an hour, charge your card, you're going to drive there, THEN they're going to spend about an hour making your food. I think the real question on everyone's mind, and why anyone is reading these review's is: DOES SANDEE'S HAVE A RICE BAN? As several of the dishes on the menu claim to come with a side of rice, and several of us have never gotten any. The world may never know! If only Robert Patrick were still around, he could do an Unsolved Mysteries episode on it. Alas... I got the Teriyaki Tofu... It uhh. Sure was some unseasoned, cubes. I really, really regret not taking a picture. Although there wasn't much of it (1/4th of the to go box), I don't really mind, it was exactly what people imagine when they think of tofu, which is why most people DON'T like tofu, even though tofu can actually be really great. It wasn't firm, wasn't pressed, no seasoning, just kinda sitting there like a white, mushy cube in some sauce that tasted like it came out of a bottle with a couple pieces of carrots and broccoli. Carrots were fine? My dining companion was very upset about the rice situation, but the rest of their food the container was filled up all the way. They also said it was mediocre. They could have just been angry about the rice. Other person had green curry, also said it was not great, not terrible. There you have it! SANDEE'S. Asked for tray of sauces which is common at Thai restaurants and they brought out empty containers in a tray. I asked them to bring filled ones and was told later that they didn't have those sauces. So I asked even just for fish sauce and they said that they didn't have it despite it being a printed ingredient on the menu....weird. My dish was very flavorful for for $16 they could have filled the bowl...especially with noodles which are cheap. We're spoiled by Chicago Thai restaurants I guess. read more
