I needed an appointment for my cat for an evaluation and they did not tell me Dr katz would not be seeing the cat. I was shocked to find some woman veterinarian come in and in a nutshell she decided that the cat was dangerous and needed to be put to sleep. She couldn't force me but she was so strong and insistent and I was in such shock I wasn't thinking clearly I never would have allowed that without more evaluation. And so I put my five-year-old baby to sleep because she has been attacking me when I realized when I went home and found more research that I was covering her hiding spot and she was stressed and I told the doctor that this was a recent behavior which should have clued her and I killed my poor baby only 5 years old for no reason. The doctor was hardcore and vicious maybe she was good medically but certainly not adequate on other levels and I'm devastated. How do you bring back an animal that you loved and raised since it was 3 months old? The cat was my friend it was perfect I realized that but it should have been evaluated differently. I don't know why I wasn't thinking clearer.. I'm shocked at myself for allowing this to happen without more evaluation. I would not go to this hospital unless you see Dr Katz but I'm going to call him and give him a piece of my mind for hiring a woman who had no heart and was totally way off base. She even said well there are 800,000 animals out there waiting to be adopted like this one doesn't even matter. This was my pet!!! A pet who slept on my bed at night and kissed me in the morning who was stressed out and I didn't realize it and there was the doctors mandatory obligation to explore a little bit more about why the cat may have been acting out rather than scaring and shocking me as she did. I hope she has a miserable life because she's a cruel and miserable human being for what she did to me for no reason. read more

Dr Katz is the best veterinarian I have ever encountered in my 30 years of pet ownership. My 9 year old Beagle Daisy came down with a rare blood disease last year and wasn't expected to survive the next 2 weeks. Dr Katz jumped into action without a moment to waste and put her on a regimen of steroids and Chemo meds. I am blessed to say that she has survived over a year and is thriving! Visiting the area when my 8 year old dog started limping. This had happened Year or so back, my local vet treated him with a simple anti inflammatory. Since I wasn't returning home for four days I called my vet and asked that they forward a prescription for the medication that worked successfully. I spoke to my vet and she had the prescription immediately submitted to Dr Katz, my daughter's vet, After spending 40 minutes on hold, I was told Dr Katz would not honor the request. So my dog will spend the weekend in pain because Dr Katz only cared about getting paid for an office visit. I've never used Katz before so I can't speak to his talent, but I don't think much of his compassion or professionalism. read more

Amazing Dr. Katz, Diagnosed Meisha with an embolic stroke. Clearly and kindly described treatment, possibilities, and outcomes. Not all we're positive. His speciality is neurology. He told us what to do , how to do it, and said we should hope for the best. HE WAS CORRECT! Meisha is now walking and almost back to her old self. Truly a miracle . Dr. Katz saved my one year old cat's life and now he has eight more lives left. All joking aside, I rushed my cat to a 24 hour emergency veterinarian hospital at 1 o'clock in the morning since Dr. Katz at Pelham animal Hospital was closed and they misdiagnosed my cat's ailment only for me to endure 3 panic filled days watching my cat deteriorate in extreme distress. Dr. Katz identified the problem almost immediately and performed emergency surgery to remove what he discovered which turned out to be pieces of a foam rubber child's play mat which my cat had eaten away some of the edges and swallowed them and they were stuck in his small intestine. We have since thrown out the mat and 'cat-proofed our home as we have two other young felines. Dr. Katz is our regular veterinarian and he literally held our hand and our cats paw throughout this ordeal and the baby boy is recovering at home now lively, earnest, vibrant, eating and drinking and using his litter box so we are so relieved. Might I add, this surgery was in excess of two or 2 1/2 hours and I could tell Dr. Katz did not mind whatever time it was, but he finished at about 10 PM and we are grateful for his time and care and obviously staying in the clinic all night to perform the surgery. The staff took such great care of our cat; keeping in communication, following up, emailing and more phone calls, all very reassuring and comforting Thank you Dr. Katz and all the staff at Pelham Animal Hospital. read more

Be forewarned that this Animal Hospital's website will appear to be working but it is not!!! I booked an appointment last night on their website after hours because my cat is sick and they had an appointment available today. I called the office as soon as their website said it was open, left a voicemail, and didn't get a call back. Finally got an actual human to answer the phone 3 hours later to confirm the appointment, only to be told offhandedly that "the website hasn't been updated for months" and they basically hadn't gotten around to it yet. So, the appointment I thought I had didn't exist--in fact the doctor wasn't even in! I could have kept searching for another hospital had this place done the professional and courteous thing by at least posting an announcement on their website to call the office for all inquiries. This hospital has a good reputation and I'm not looking to besmirch it. I'm sure their regular patients know the deal. But when someone like me tries to book a last minute appointment because of a sudden illness, this doctor needs to think about that. Their website advertises a free first exam on Wednesdays. Unfortunately they don't honor that offer. They are also listed as a participating vet in the Westchester humane society low cost neuter/spay certificate program. They're not honoring that offer also and are only taking clients that pay full price. read more

Staff seemed more interested in giving my 12 year old INDOOR Cat a Rabies Vaccine, that he already received when I rescued him, than treating him for his itchy Ears..will never go back or recommend..that way of doing Business is a disgrace. I usually dont write reviews tbh, but I was soo thankful for this service. My cat started to hide, and limp and I began to worry. After a few days, I called and asked for an emergency visit. They had me come in right away and took care of my cat Oreo. I was really nervous because she can be aggressive and I could not be in the room with her. They assured me that they had a cat expert and I was shocked to hear that she gave no attitude during her visit. She was given a booster and rabies shot as precautions and was diagnosed with a sprain. Was given anti-inflammatory meds for her. Price was very fair, constantly gave estimates and updates of anything needed to be added. Visit was not long and she now at home resting and purring up a storm. I really love Dr. Katz, this is our second patient we have brought to him (first being our dog) and he has took great care with both of our animals!! read more

Dr Katz is on top of his game--he calls me personally and has handled many different situations involving my little 12yr old overweight dachshund, Puck. He talks frankly and is very sympathetic . I'm no easy dog mom. I tend to give him a hard time (hehehe). He's ALWAYS professional and courteous towards me. His bedside manner is great. The other doctor, Dr Johnson is also very even keeled. I have so much to be thankful for and one of those is the care of Dr Katz and his staff for my little girl, Daisy, my 15+year old Maltese fur baby. She was diagnosed with kidney failure at 13 1/2 years old. She was so sick. We were taking things day by day, then week by week, then month but month. With the care and professionalism of Dr Katz and his staff, we celebrated her 15th birthday on March 6, 2017 and we still celebrate every day we have her. A one star review because I can't give out negative starts. Any chance I get to talk about this place I will make sure to remind people how awful this place is. My healthy bunny was never cared for and never sent her back with medicine after her surgery to get her payed. They kept telling she's fine and didn't take action meanwhile my bunny was dying in pain. She passed to away less than 3 days after her surgery. Wat an awful place. I lost my loved one and I'll never her get back. read more

Just awful! My sister inquired about a price to have the 17 year old family cat put to sleep and was quoted a price of $100. Upon her arrival on the date of the appointment, the price mysteriously doubled. The staff was just awful. I couldn't bring a paperclip to visit this office. read more

They have taken care of all our family pets for over a decade. Dr. Katz is great and their staff is very nice. They know our pets and have been there seeing them from kitten and puppy to saying goodbye. They helped our ailing cat prolong his lifespan as long as he seemed comfortable and happy. I used Dr. Katz for close to a decade. first and foremost, he is competent I had switched from other vets all for same reason...i dread the bill more than the auto mechanic bill on a german car! Dr. K was infamous for pushing tests or products i did not need. I dont mind recommendations, but it was all push & all business. I got in habit of always asking how much and stressing I cant afford to try desparately to get a fair price. Several times things were on my bill that he never even mentioned to me such as optional vitamin products. I felt like i always had to be prepared for negotiations going there. He would make concessions, but only after what i feel were "gouging" sessions. Finally when the inevitable time came that my animal had to be put down, he was about $100 more than others and he did not use enough euthanizing drug and it made my poor baby take longer to sleep. I dont think he did this out of lack of knowledge, but the exact opposite... knew the minimum needed and tried to conserve on costs even though i was paying dearly. He is knowlegeable, and I understand competiton and overhead, but I have moved on to a new vet. I will pay whatever i need for the care of my animal, but i just want it to be fair and needed! read more

A couple months ago Dr. Katz went above & beyond by providing exceptional emergency care for our brand new puppy Gus. He quickly diagnosed a an obstruction in his intestine (beware of Nylabones!) and he & his team cleared their calendars to stay late on a Friday night to save Gus' life. This is the first time I let Pelham Animal Hospital do a groom on my 8 month Yorkie I usually take him to Petco and they do a fantastic job. He only went here because I thought since it suppose to be a very professional business and trustworthy that they should be able to handle all types of animal's behavior in a way that Petco could not do, and since he has been there for an exam before I wanted to try out the grooming since they did suggest the first time I was there. First, of all they tried to tell me that my puppy was not up to date with his shots when in fact I gave them all his shot records, and come to find out they missed scanned the shot papers, so they was trying to charge me for the same shot he had all ready got. They quote you one price and then when you arrive they have you sign papers without going over it with you and explaining the details. Most people just sign papers without reading, but I think it should be the responsibility of a business such as this one to go over everything with you. You may have someone who doesn't understand or know how to read and too embarrass to say something. What this place does is con people and overcharge you, I never heard of a place sedating an animal for grooming I rather you call me to come get him than to touch him. If you are going to sedate an animal for a groom it should have been better than the*SHITTY JOB* you did there was a lot of places that was untouched and I had to go over it again with my own trimmers. NEVER AGAIN!!!!!!!!!!!!! will I let you touch my dog again or any pet for that matter. PEOPLE PLEASE READ THIS BEFORE GOING!!!!!!!!!! read more
