    So warm and cozy

Always our favorite spot to come back to. Rooms are always clean and welcoming. Nancy was always so sweet and we enjoyed visiting with her and her pups. Was sad to learn she had sold but happy for her. We will miss your warm and loving smile. On the other hand we still received a nice warm greeting from the new manager but was very disappointed to learn no more wonderful breakfasts. We will miss that. My husband was so looking forward to it. But that seems to be the norm lately. The location is good. it's close to the water and close to the village. So it's out of the hustle and bustle but close to everything still. Just perfect for a romantic getaway

Everything was very peaceful and quiet. The room was spacious, with a big bath tub and a dressing table/desk area with outlets if you do need to do some work. There is power outside as well if you prefer to work in the fresh air. Guests and host wore masks. For breakfast each morning (which is homemade), I had the option of taking a tray to my room, to the back patio, the rooftop terrace, or staying in the front room (seating was spaced apart). Food was always good :-) Host asked if I wanted my room fluffed each day, I declined but it is included if you want it. She has a very cute smaller dog. The beach and Carlsbad village are a very short ~10 minute walk; during the day it's busy but early in the morning and the hour or so before sunset it was quiet and cool. Grub hub delivers here if you don't want to go out - I ordered excellent food from Taste of the Himalayas one night. All in all, a nice respite from the craziness in the world, it was easy to avoid contact with people and feel safe. I would definitely recommend this place and will be back!

We always stay at hotels, and I am so happy we didn't this weekend. My parents had encouraged me and my wife to get out of town for the weekend for my birthday. We found this place after searching a bit on a few sites. We kept reading about someone named Nancy, and hearing about the rooms and the breakfast. Here to tell you, it's all true. Nancy is phenomenal. Period. The rooms are marvelous as are the amenities. Everything is well kept and feels first-rate in all respects. While we didn't take full advantage during our time there. For example, there are beach chairs, umbrellas, and towels for anyone looking to hit the water. Nancy also puts together one hell of a breakfast, and you have the option of sitting in the adorable garden out back, or even in the gazebo. I've stayed at hundreds of hotels and you start to forget what a "warm" stay feels like. The Marriott is fine, as is a Hyatt or Sheraton. AirBnB is OK, but those are often hit or miss. This is something different. Everything was adorable and made you feel at home. That included the cute mugs we chose for our coffee in the morning, to the fact she left a stack of candy in our room given it was right around Halloween when we stayed. Nancy cares tremendously about her guests, and you definitely feel it. We even had the pleasure of spending some time with one of her adorable dogs at breakfast. Lucy is the best. As for the location, it's perfect. Everything is walking distance from the hotel. We consider ourselves foodies, and did a food tour during our time in Carlsbad, but also tried as many places as possible. We counted up 15 restaurants, bars, and cafes we visited during our two nights there. Not once did we use our car to get around. We will unequivocally be back again, potentially with a large group. My one regret writing this review: Letting the secret out.

Wow and wow just what me and my wife needed for a amazing anniversary trip. Our room was huge and very clean and comfortable, the jacuzzi tube was big enough for 2. We felt like part of the family instead of just a number at a hotel. One of the best experiences at a B&B ever will be back as soon as possible Thanks

Where can we get a good breakfast?

Don's Country Kitchen is supposed to be outstanding but they were closed when we went. We ended up going to Cafe Topes which was good too.

Have been a customer for 17 years as have many family members and friends. Checked in, paid my balance by check and they cashed within an hour. Arrived in room to 2 dead cockroaches and a toilet which wouldn't flush. A live roach runs into bathroom and under sink. Told mgr Lily she called maintenance man who should arrive in hour or two. In the mean time, chased 2-3 other cockroaches killed one. Wife flushed other toilet to see if it worked and it overflowed on to floor and shower backed up spewing sewage. The smell was unbearable. Put down towels called manager she said she'd call plumber now. Went to get a glass in the cupboard and found a glass full of syringes. Obviously this place has not been cleaned. BROKEN TOILETS, LIVE AND DEAD COCKROACHES, RAW SEWAGE,SYRINGES were the issues within the first two hours of our family vacation. Plumber arrived and fixed plumbing. Still nobody cleaned bathroom floor or shower. And it reeked of sewage. We asked if anyone was going to clean up the roaches and the manager finally did. Manager tried to get us to stay with discounts and other rooms but they had nothing comparable and we were disgusted and really couldn't see ourselves staying anywhere in this place. We chased a roach and moved a chest of drawers and found RODENT AND COCKROACH FECES (see photo)Final straw was my son finding roaches climbing up from the drain in the shower into the pan. That's it. We never unpacked so we put everything in the truck and drove 2 hours home. Vacation week ruined. Family reunion ruined. I called the next morning and spoke to Lily and said I was driving down to pick up my refund. She confirmed that I would be getting 100% refund and that the owner was there and valued us as a customer and wanted a second chance. All I wanted was my money back I said. Drove 2 1/2 hours to be greeted by a check for half my total. So they kept $2400. Unbelievable. I will never give uLIARS on top of it Enjoy the photos. I have more and video to be posted. UPDATE. Owner called 9/12 and said he would be sending the balance of the refund. STILL NOTHING. After a month, I received a full refund. Not pleased with what I had to do, and was prepared to do in order to effectuate the full refund. They could have tried to make it right but failed. Sorry to say we won't be customers again.

Booked through Airbnb to host our family group while we laid out Navy Veteran to rest at sea…read more Pricing: -You will be charged additional fees for EVERYTHING +Before and during the stay there were options made available to add nights prior and after check out. That was nice. -Overall for the quality and the services rendered, it would have been cheaper to stay in an actual hotel with consistent amenities and breakfast options. Amenities: +Walking distance to the beach. +It was nice that almost every room had an adjoining bathroom. +The room rental had a killer view of the ocean. +Theres a lot to do in the area +There was a hot tub on the third story that was neat. +There were several balconies within the unit, some facing the ocean and some facing the city. It was nice to have different spaces like this. Host Communications: -This is not an independent home or individual running location, it's a corporate operation that's using Airbnb to host their properties. We had a contact person but everything was through "Beachfront Only Vacation Rentals." -Maintenance had to come three different times during the course of a weekend stay. At this point a hotel would have knocked fees off, upgraded you, moved you rooms, no efforts were made to make this right for us. When you have guests that experience as many issues with a rental as we did; you have a responsibility to make that right on your end. This wasn't a summer beach vacation. This was a Navy Veteran funeral service. Services were at several places nearby and at sea, but all of us stayed in the rental. The last thing any of us had the head space for, was extra issues during an already difficult time. The night before the funeral we were going to make pizza for our group. No oven. By the time the handyman showed up there wasn't time to do this and we had to scramble to feed a large group at the last minute, with no compensation for the evening they ruined. Issues: -Not handicap accessible (the shore is accessible over rocky terrain and not during high tide at all). There are stairs all over the house and an elevator you have to pay additional service fees for. -Older appliances. Despite the listings offering a newly renovated atmosphere, you can tell corners were cut and several of the appliances didn't work; like the fire pit, TVs, oven. (I'm wondering if they disable the oven due to all the reviews I've read about similar issues). -Tell tale signs of rust and wear. Throughout the house in several places, things are rusting. I know the salt content in the air makes this happen, but I shouldn't have to worry about tetanus when I flush a toilet. -Cleanliness was not up to par. The floors turned everyone's feet black. There are hardwood floors throughout the rental, so you constantly feel like there is dirt and things stuck to your feet. Bathrooms didn't seem clean & one of the showers had mystery spots in it??? -Not adequate supplies for larger groups. Our group was well below the maximum occupancy and we ran out of towels the first night. Soaps and toilet paper in some bathrooms ran out as well. -Everything electronic (lights & A/C units) is run on timers and will not stay on longer than 30 minutes. We had one of our family members slip and fall during our stay because lights in the shower turned off. -The rentals are built so close to each other that having windows open or being on balconies doesn't offer as much privacy as I would have liked. -Everything is wet and humid. I'm aware that ocean front humidity is uncontrollable. For some reason every other location I've ever stayed with didn't have this issue. Swim clothes didn't dry, even after being hung out for days at a time. Books and papers warped, everything felt damp. The rental gave us an opportunity to come together and take care of the main reason we were there. The host issues and state of the Airbnb though made all of it a lot harder than it had to be. In a city where you are spoiled for choice when it comes to accommodations, more care and consideration should have been given. Good luck guys.

I rented this property for a 4-night stay at a cost of approximately $2,000. Unfortunately, our…read moreexperience did not match what was advertised. During our stay, we encountered numerous issues, including: * A non-functional sliding door in the only ocean-view room. * A fireplace that was initially not working. * A broken kitchen faucet that resulted in no running water in the kitchen until it was repaired. * An AC unit in the "Sand Harbor" room that did not cool properly and made a loud rattling noise. * Multiple windows without screens, including the largest window in the house, while the screens that were present were dirty. * A jacuzzi with water too low to use the jets and no instructions or hose available to refill it. * Cleanliness concerns upon arrival. * Multiple maintenance visits during our vacation. To the company's credit, some issues were addressed during our stay, and they ultimately issued a $200 refund. However, given the number of problems and the overall impact on what was advertised as a premium vacation rental, I did not feel the resolution reflected the experience we had. This review reflects my personal experience so that future guests can make an informed decision.
