I'm at this motel. It's 3:45am. Usually I save my reviews for after checkout, but this place is extra special, so here we are. The sheets and pillows are WET. When we checked in, we noticed they seemed damp, but we turned on the AC unit thinking it would dehumidify the room while we were at the beach, and we went out for 8hours or so. Then we returned, pulled back the covers and found that the sheets were also really damp. And the pillows were still damp. My 10 year old was super uncomfortable, so I called the front desk... "Hello, this is room 16...umm....our pillows seem really damp...is this something the other rooms are experiencing too?" Front desk clerk, "That's because the humidity has been so high and it hasn't been hot and it's because of the air conditioners making them cold. They are just cold. I felt them myself earlier." Me: "oh...Umm...ok, thank you." Nobody tell my husband we paid $195 for this room. I'm sure they have a dryer on the property. Or maybe a couple spare pillows that aren't wet? I used to work at a hotel, and I can't imagine allowing a guest to try to sleep with wet pillows and sheets. They are so wet that if you lay on them, it makes your skin wet. Both beds. It's not comfortable. Survival tip: Take the wet sheets off the bed and sleep on top of the comforter, and use your packed vacation clothes on top of the pillows to keep your hair and face dry. ORRR...take the comforters to the car and sleep there and bring them back in the morning. Right now my dress and leggings are keeping us from dying. I turned the heat up to 80 in a fruitless effort to evaporate the humidity. Then back to 72. Then back to 80. Then back to 70, because my daughter was hot. I'm sure whatever money they saved by not giving these blankets and sheets an extra 10 minutes in the dryer they have surely lost in electricity from my trying to fix this problem... We turned the AC unit off for a while, since it seemed to be doing more harm than good, but an exuberantly loud Italian guy was outside smoking and talking, while his female friend kept telling him he needs to be quieter because he was "seriously louder than loud dude" (her words, not mine). I personally enjoyed listening in on their conversation, but my family found it annoying as they were trying to sleep. Italian dude thinks that companies are hiding the cure to cancer because it would cost them money to cure it. I think that's a pretty big conspiracy theory, and he didn't have much evidence, but hey...the pillows are wet so, waddya Gonna do? AmIRight? Check in was ok. No masks on anyone, which would usually bother me but I'm vaccinated so...okie dokie. Front desk lady was terrible at recommending a restaurant. (By the way, if you want seafood, "The Shrimp Box" was expensive af but realllly good.) She didn't mention any place by name, but she was nice. Note: They no longer have half price beach tags at this motel, ever, according to her. The room was very clean. The shower is a one-piece surround, so no mold cracks. But the pillows were WET... There was no dust on any of the blinds in the 3 windows...But wet pillows ... The refrigerator and microwave are clean. But...w.e.t PILLows... There is no hair dryer. There is also no air vent anywhere, not even the bathroom. I chose this place because it looked like the closest to the beach...walking distance. But seeing so many available parking places right up by the boardwalk, I should have booked a nicer hotel with a little drive instead, and paid the $2.50 per hour to park. It may have even been cheaper. But right now, I would sell my soul for some dry sheets and a dry pillow. read more

Lovely stay here recently with family (adults + kids). We arrived early and our room was ready. The woman helping at check-in was friendly, offered discounted beach passes, informed me about nearby restaurants (after I asked for suggestions), etc. The rooms were very clean and nicely furnished. Outside each room was a small table and chairs so we could sit outside and relax. There is a swimming pool on premise as well. Easy walk to boardwalk and beach. This motel is a hidden gem !! The rooms are welcoming and extremely clean. Outside every room has a table with chairs where we had coffee in the morning. The pool is very clean and maintained ! Nice clean motel, this is quite nice for the money. We stopped in off season and were able to check in early, check out time was flexible and we were offered a room with a king size bed for no additional cost. It's walking distance to several taverns, restaurants, coffee, thrift stores, shops and the ocean. I grew up on the Jersey shore so I'm very familiar with the area. I spent a night in Seaside Park and Seaside Heights, both were very disappointing and I'm glad I decided to head north even if It was out of the way to visit with family. read more

This motel was terrible! The room was filled with mold spores. The dresser drawer was so warped that when we pulled open the draws, the mildew smell was horrible. Same with the nightstand between the two full beds. The bathroom was stuffy and also smeled of mildew which was created by the fact of no ventilation. The owners charge for the beach passes which is a joke as we are clearly overpaying for the rooms. The office is never open the full hours as stated. We were all sick from the room! We just stayed at The Pelican Point Motel..and I have to say it is the cleanest, nicest motel I have ever stayed in for a NJ shore motel. The room are immaculate, the staff is more then efficient. They do all and everything to make your visit the best it can be. Another plus the coffee bar is a nice touch. Besutifully kept pool area. And the guest equal the employees. Every one and everything was beyond what we expected. I am 100% coming again. Only one little turn off.. The kids running around the back area. It was very crowded and noisy. My husband and I came here for a two night get away without our little ones. We are not picky and just needed some simple rest and relaxation. We upgraded to room 25 which was a 2 bedroom "suite". My husband and I decided to take it as it was more spacious, quieter, and appeared recently renovated as compared to a regular room which is very very small (100 square feet). The location is great as your only two blocks to the boardwalk. The actual motel is a no frills motel but if your looking for a low budget quick getaway with kids it will do the job. Highly recommend! The front desk woman if I'm not mistaken her name was Diane? Not sure but she was lovely! We came here after leaving another motel that was disgusting and she accommodated us. The front desk alone smelled so nice and I knew this place was going to be good. Our room was immaculate and so cute. It smelled fresh and clean. The decorations are adorable. The bathrooms came with hand soap on the walls and the shower had shampoo and body wash on the wall. The bedding smelled fresh, the floors were spotless. What a great stay in point pleasant this weekend. We were more then pleased with this newly renovated motel, we stayed for 2 nights. Our room was quaint and small but perfect for 2 people. It was very clean and the staff up kept the rooms very nicely. Arrived on July 31st for a 4 night stay. We arrived before check in time, so the room was not ready, but they did allow us to park in the lot so we could go to the beach while waiting for our room. The walk to the beach is 2 very long blocks, so if you have a lot of gear, it will be difficult. We returned and the room was neat and smelled clean. The furniture is old and there is not a lot of "closet" space to hang clothes, but it was ok. I went to take a shower and there was no water flow in the shower (oh and there is no faucet to fill the tub, if you have little ones). My husband went to the front desk to advise them that the shower was not working and it was very difficult to get clean (especially after spending hours at the beach) . He was told that the owner wasn't there but would be advised of the situation, and a plumber would be called. The next day we returned to our room, and the shower was not fixed. He again went to the front desk where Denise told him she would look at it when we went to dinner. No change when we returned, and no plumber. Monday (day 3) I went into the shower after being decimated by a wave and loaded with sand in my hair and bathing suit (they have no outdoor shower, even by the pool to rinse off with) and again no water flow, without exaggeration, it took me over 20 minutes to get the sand out of my hair which is shoulder length). I was more then annoyed, and went to the front desk. Denise told me the plumber called and said he wouldn't make it, but she would try swapping out the shower head when we left for dinner. She also said she would be discounting our room rate due the the inconvenience of the 3 days. She did offer a free night, but we were unable to stay another day. Returning from dinner, the shower head had been changed, and low and behold a normal shower was able to be taken on our last day there. I called Denise on our way home on Wednesday (the office doesn't open until 9 am), and left a message asking how the discount would be given to us, ie a credit on our credit card). She text my husband and said she was in a call. She never returned our call or advised of how the discount would be applied. I called her on Thursday and she said she never said that, that we had already received a discounted rate. (This reservation was originally for 2020 but had to be cancelled due to Covid, we were not able to be refunded our deposit, so it was held over for 2021) so apparently she now thinks because we paid a deposit in 2020 for slightly less then 2021 rates, that this is the discounted rate. Would NOT recommend this place to anyone. read more

Finding accommodations at the Jersey Shore last minute are not east and you need yo be prepared to pay a premium. Lucky to find the Pelican Point , admittedly not our first choice, usually stay at a hotel on the beach. Pleasantly surprised at the cleanliness ( read immaculate ) and decor of the rooms. Staff friendly and accommodating. Able to walk to beach and restaurants on Arnold Ave. Pool area neat and clean is on the smaller side. Would prefer if it were open later in evening. We stayed in August for 1 night. After a very hot drive down, the staff welcomed us as if we were friends. They were very helpful in all ways, and particularly giving us tips on our first visit to the Jersey Shore. They were amazingly professional on a hectic Sunday morning, with lots of guests checking out and in at the same time. The room was simple and cheery, comfortable and clean. The blue and white beachy colors were a pleasure compared to the usual drab neutral in every hotel and motel on the planet. It had everything we needed and was just the right size. My husband and I brought our children ages 1, 4, and 18 to Point Pleasant for a one night stay. I booked the Pelican Point Motel based on other reviews on cleanliness because that is my highests priority when staying away from home. Other reviews do not lie, this place is spotless!!!!!! We stayed in Room 11, which was on the ground floor next to the lobby. This was a standard room with 2 double beds. The room was tiny, but we were only there to sleep and shower so it wasn't a problem. We did have enough room to fit my one year old's pack n play comfortably between the 2 beds. The bathroom had soap dispensers for hand soap next to the sink and 2 dispensers in the shower for shower soap and shampoo, which I thought was a nice touch. There were 3 pillows on the bed, but the bed itself was not the most comfortable. Even with 3 pillows (some I brought from home), I felt like my feet were elevated above my head. This is why I took away 1 star. The motel offers beach chair and towel rentals, as well as discounted beach passes. The small pool out front was very clean and we had a good time enjoying it. There are several items for sale such as snacks, drinks, suntan lotion in the lobby. They also offer complimentary coffee, tea, and snacks. Although, it would have been nice to have access to coffee before they lobby opens at 9am!!! The beach and boardwalk is a short 2 block walk away. There are many restaurants and shopping in walking distance. All in all this is a great, clean stay for a trip to Point Pleasant Beach! read more

Hotel was very clean and location is great. Our room was right behind the main office and the staff were extremely loud during business hours and we would hear yelling and banging from our room. Also, there was a group of very rowdy people who partied outside our door until 5 am and then knocked on our door asking to use our phone. Was a little scary. I know that is not totally the hotel's fault, but perhaps a better quiet policy could be implemented. Do not stay here! My group and I got three rooms for Labor Day weekend paying around 700 each we were extremely respectful throughout our stay. did not play music in rooms, respected corona virus protocols, and were barely at the motel during our stay since we came there for the beach and activities. We received MULTIPLE threatening text messages from as early 10am to as late as 2:30am. We were told we would be kicked out for being too loud because our room was located next to the office. However, we were just sitting in the room having breakfast. I was truly shocked receiving this message. We also received a text about a noise complaint at 2:30am when we weren't even on the motel premises. I have never experienced such harassment from hotel management. I completely understand the unprecedented times but that should not give rise to harassment on guests who respected rules and regulations provided. read more

Perfect for the reason it takes people going for 1 night - and thats what I did. Conveniently close, however far enough it isn't too expensive. Pool is nice and the owners are nice as well. The room was clean and they had a nice gift shop, however I never shopped there. This motel needs to be a little more stepped up in the way that the ice machine is in the maid's closet and it uses a shopping cart, etc. - those kind of things. Nonetheless, it is a good motel I would recommend to anybody. read more

I went to this motel the week before Labor Day. After checking in and swiping my credit card I was told by the owner that the beach was open but we couldn't swim because of the rip-tides. I told them that I would not be staying because I had 2 young kids and w/out the beach there was nothing to do. I was told by the owner "there are no refunds I don't control weather". She told me to swim in the pool which is on the street in the parking lot. At the beach we were not allowed w/in 50ft. Of the water and the lifeguards told us that the next day ppl. Would only be able to go in the water up to their knees. I was never told of the cancellation policy and when I made the reservation 2 days before checking in the owner failed to mention that the beaches had been closed all week. I get they don't control the weather but what a scam taking my reservation without informing me that I would not be able to swim in the ocean and telling me the beach is closed after she swipes my credit card and takes my money! There is ZERO customer service at this motel!! I recommend you go elsewhere! read more

Stayed here July 1st for 1 night. I chose this motel because a few reviews said CLEAN. They were right, even though I had doubts before hand because I heard this before with other Jersey Shore Motels and they lied. Not here! With that being my most important requirement, the walk to the beach is about 2 blocks (Great for hotel price) which was an extra plus. Also, the staff is extremely friendly from the owner to the cleaning staff. 1/2 price beach passes at front desk and free parking was a nice addition also. We will be back! read more

Waaaaaay over priced $$$$$. $209 a night for WHAT!!!!! (Lil john voice). The standard room is TINY teeny. The entire space is reminiscent of a small studio apartment with out kitchen. As soon as you open the door to enter your room you are looking at the bed, then turn your head 30 dg's to the left and your looking at a small stand with small fridge, microwave stacked on top of eachother. Keep looking to your left and directly next to the stack you find a medium size TV mounted on the wall (to the far right of the bed. The bathroom & medium size dresser follows, and this completes the room. My guess would be 12x10 space. I don't have to describe the size of the bathroom to you, use your imagination lol. The room was neat, I'll def give them that, and smelled good. The entire motel is like a small house split up, which is good in a sense that its not major crowded. It was quiet. The rooms are very close together, and I'd imagine the pelican considers a main attraction ... Pool directly in the front entrance of motel, its a hot mess! It may as well be on if those store bought pools that you sit on your back lawn, wrapped in plastic, at this location is surrounded by white picked fence. I am a nut when it comes to motel/hotel so I tend to take things a lil far sometimes. I'll bring my own soap, wash rag, towel etc. More times it was really not called for because I end up pleased with what I see where staying but in this case I was glad I did. The rags had hairs on them, and the quilt had white stains (yuk). My beau and I were supposed to just look at this as a spot to sleep, since we planned to be on the boardwalk and point pleasant beach for the majority of the two days but we were so disappointed in the entire location, including the pelican that we cut this weekend trip short!. Normally I'd say "you get what you pay for" but this is crazy! 240 bucks after taxes...the motel is charging Hotel prices, but unable to offer Hotel accommodations. No way Jose! read more

Wasn't expecting much from this motel, we booked it completely last minute (as in up the block in a Wendy's parking lot trying to find a room for the night) for my friend and I and my mother and her friend. First of all, very quick walk to point pleasant beach and Jenkins's boardwalk and half price beach passes available where you check in. Very nice balcony with table and chairs for each room outside, BEAUTIFUL room. I can't describe how thrilled we were to see what our room looked like. Full size fridge and microwave, lots of counter space and a full 4-burner stove, lots of outlets and gorgeous décor and flooring. Truly felt like a luxury beach getaway. Great little town, and doesn't get very crazy with college kids/partiers like the Jersey shore does. The only thing is that the price if the rooms increases drastically on the weekends (like every other hotel in the area) so be sure to book in advance/ go during the week if you can. Overall very impressed, very family friendly and fun little stay, we plan to bring the whole family back for a week or so and get multiple rooms! Definitely recommend! read more

my review totally differs from the review from 2011. We have come down for work/play the past two fourth of July weekends and we have stayed at the Pelican and we are going to stay again this year....that should tell you something if we are returning for the third year in a row. The rooms seem to have been updated, some of the rooms are really big....the place is so convenient for point pleasant...you are still walking distance to the boardwalk and the shops are on Arnold in the other direction. I am not going to give it 5 stars since really what beach motel is, but if you want a place to be on the shore at a reasonable price (you have to expect higher prices during the summer season) then the Pelican is a great place to enjoy the shore. Be prepared to find that during the summer and especially holiday weekends that many places including the Pelican are sold out, but Theresa at the front desk is great and she will try some other places for you as well since she knows people at other motels in Point Pleasant and other beach towns...Chris read more
