As far as hotels/motels go for down the shore this place was great! Truly a diamond in the rough. My family really enjoyed our weekend getaway here. The room was very CLEAN, which was very important to me! We also were interested in a hotel as we wanted to be able to access a pool on site. The pool was also very clean, my children enjoyed both day swimming and night swimming. The hotel guests access the Maryland Avenue beach, which was very short walk, we had a beach cart for our chairs, and other beach essentials which was very helpful. This beach was also very CLEAN. I could see my feet crystal clear in the water. The boardwalk is about a 30 minute walk, we choose to drive, only about a 3-5 minute ride. I actually enjoyed the fact that it wasn't close as my children could not see it from the beach and/or hotel. I'd definitely recommend this location for anyone interested in a CLEAN place to stay! read more

I loved it here. My first thought of the place was how pleasantly surprised I was at how clean it felt and looked. I was greeted by the front desk, couple hours before check in time, just to see if my grandmother could use the restroom. She said yes and let me know the room was actually ready to go. Awesome! We unloaded and left for the beach. The room was spacious and clean as well. Some of the furniture was just beautiful too. The bathroom was nice and spacey. Not the best water pressure from the shower, but no biggy. They have a nice pool area, not those small squeezed in kind at some hotels. There were a bunch of people at one point, but still a plethora more of chairs. They have a little grill in the back too that we were able to get coffee from one morning. I was a little unclear on what time they were open until. I had hoped to get a late lunch snack or something, but they were gone by 3pm. If you want a dump than this is the place for you. I stepped in gum the moment I stepped out onto the parking lot and a flock of seagulls pooped on my head. The walls are paper thin and you can hear EVERYTHING, and believe me the drama and noises are like an adult night club here. It is terrible. read more

I stayed at the Point Pleasant Manor last August for three night. I booked a small suite because it is a little bit more spacious than the standard room with the two double beds and my family felt more comfortable using the extra space. Every morning we were served a delicious complementary continental breakfast by a lovely lady. My children had so much fun swimming with their inflatable toys in the poo,l which was crystal clean and heated. Tony the owner was very accommodating, providing us with discounted beach passes and extra towels. I will be booking my stay for this summer pretty soon because this is one of the few places on the jersey shore that gives you value for your money! read more

Does the job for a stay on the Shore near the beach (which we did on Labor Day Weekend and didn't book very far in advance). It's a motel so that's what you should expect. It's clean but my husband was bothered by a musty smell in the room. Walking distance from the beach and there's a trolley you can take to Jenkinsons and other places around town. An overpriced motel for the quality of services they offer. First off, the rooms are old. Like very old. Ours smelled of mildew and the beds are extremely soft with almost no support. The sheets look like they've been used for years and years. Our bedsheet was actually semi-covered with cigarette ashes which is disgusting. You can almost be certain that the bedspreads have been sitting there unwashed for months - Coz you can actually smell it. I get that this is a motel and I am definitely not expecting quality of a five star hotel- but there are basic stuff that needs to be worked on. I also understand that it's family operated. But come on, I've been to family run lodges and you at least get a smiley greeting. And let me not forget to mention that this hotel offers free continental breakfast. The lady who checked us in didn't give us any information about anything - seriously? She basically just handed us the keys and said nothing. So much for their customer service. Finally, there's no phone lines in the room. That's helpful. read more

I now have my own apartment in point pleasant beach but before I did the manor was where i stayed while I was looking for my own place. I will never forget how the owners took care of me and looked in on me from time to time and ask me if I needed anything. This place was pretty awful. A lot of people direct their wedding guests to stay here, however they are not fully prepared for such clientele. Upon arrival I was greeted not with a warm smile, but with scowl and a rather a brusk "How can I help you". I told her I was checking in, and she gave me my room key. I asked if they had irons, as I had to iron my pants and shirt for the wedding. She told me that they were all out. I stood there a bit puzzled, waiting for follow up directions (e.g. check back in an hour or one is due back shortly) instead she just stared at me blankly and offered no apology. I mean a lot of wedding guests stay here, I cannot imagine that this is the first time they ran out of irons, so maybe they should have purchased more irons by now. So, luckily there was someone in there (he was trying to fix something the screwed up with shuttles to the ceremony) that had an iron that he would be finished with shortly. He asked my for my room number so he could call me when he was done. You'd think the front desk would make a similar offer, but not so much. So, whatever, I grabbed my key and headed over to my room. First impression was the smell. It wasn't knock me out awful, but it was pretty gross. The TV and TV cabinet were pretty dusty. The carpet had stains, the bed skirt had stains and the bathroom floor was dirty. Now it is a motel so I wasn't expecting beautiful decor (although they do promise that all rooms are "beautifully furnished".) The room I had goes for $87.00 to $209.00 per night (depending on the season), so I was expecting decent. The comforter was an awful floral print that I am guessing is the original comforter they bought for the room. The linens where stained and scratchy. They did however smell clean(ish). The bathroom was covered in awful pink tile and the shower (no bathtub) has only a white shower liner hanging, no actual shower curtain. The shower head didn't so much spray water so much as it drooled on me. The angle was terrible, if I was any taller (I'm pretty short), it would have been hard for me to get completely wet. My phone rang about forty-five minutes after I checked in, and the guy I talked to in the lobby had an iron for me now. I scanned my room for a board, and did not see one. I walked over to the other room and picked up the iron. I asked him if he had a board, he did not. On my way back over to my room I popped into the lobby. I asked the woman behind the desk for an ironing board and she looked at me as though I asked her if they gave out free puppies. She suggested I use the bed. Now, that might work for pants. I'm sure she is used to ironing skirts, dresses and slacks. Ironing a men's shirts requires a board. There is no possible way to iron a button up shirt on a BED. I ended up putting down a down and using a round table. The shirt didn't look anywhere near perfect, but it was passable as long as I didn't take off my blazer (which I didn't). So, they where not the friendliest, most attentive motel/hotel experience I have ever encountered. The accommodations where not the cleanest or most modern in which I have ever stayed (FAR from it). However, I have seen slightly worse (although for a lot less money). You know, there was going to be a but, I was going to give them two stars, after writing this all out though, I see no reason for that extra star. I could not imagine paying $209.00 for that room in peak season. read more

Me and my girlfriend recently stayed for a weekend for a friend's wedding, we booked a room with a king size bed, the room was spotless and the bed was very comfortable.The wheather was not hot but we sat out by the pool and there was lots of lounge chairs to lay and relax in the sun,my girlfriend loved how big the pool area was and she says it is beautiful,every staff member we encountered was friendly and helpful,there are a few good restaurants that u can walk to which was perfect for us cause I like to have a beer and she likes a glass of wine.The price of the room was fair and I highly recommend couples or families to book there vacations at the point pleasant manor. read more

This is a very cute, well kept hotel that is a quick walk to the beach and serves its purpose for a weekend on the jersey shore. It is very evident that it is family ran and they all do an excellent job with upkeep daily in the pool area. Everything is very clean! A breakfast is offered daily with coffee, and bagels, and pastries and is a very nice touch to get your day going. They are very kind and give $3 off passes to the beach that is a quick block away making it only $7 a day for the beach pass. We luckily stayed in one of the updated rooms and I would be hesitant to stay in one of the older ones. It was a little bit pricey, but we did come at the height of the summer season on a weekend so it does make sense. I would definitely return back for its cleanliness, accommodating staff, beautiful pool area, and easy access to the beach! read more

We stayed here for 3 weeknights in a King room. The accommodations were fine, the room was very clean and well-kept. Rooms are dated but adequate. Bathroom is VERY tiny, shower stall had cracked tile, but there was plenty of hot water and towels. Pool area is very nice, however, the water is not heated as advertised. Continental breakfast daily is very good. Bagels, pastries, coffee, juice. The 'Pleasant Grill" was a total flop -- we were told that they served lunch by the pool every day from 11AM to 4PM. There was a "grill" menu in our room that looked pretty good! So, we thought.. great.. we don't have to run out for lunch if we are at the pool. But, 2 out of 3 days, it was not open. The 3rd day, it was open briefly with soda/water and 'wedge sandwiches' from the 7-11 up the street, but no 'grill'. They sell pool and beach toys and also rent beach chairs and umbrellas. The beach is a short walk from the motel. Check-in/out was pleasant and efficient. Overall. the place is fine - I would probably stay there again - location is good. (I did not know this, but about 90% of restaurants do not serve alcohol, so be prepared to BYOB. There are a few good spirit stores nearby). read more

Hmmmm....where do I begin? We chose this motel because our friends were staying here. If we were paying between 90 and 130 a night, we might have been satisfied with the accommodations or lack thereof, but for nearly 300 a night we saw our stay as a huge waste of money making it impossible to overlook all of the negatives. I will start with the check in process. The website stated they give military discounts however when my husband inquired with his veteran ID he was told they won't honor the discount because it was a holiday weekend. Okay tried to stay positive, checked out the room...old, but clean....kudos to the cleaning staff. We checked out the pool area....21 lounge chairs missing cushions. Heated pool....maybe if they mean heated by the sun. We inquired about the food by the pool as promised in the website. We were told that there was a man who ran it but the health board came and said it was not up to code so they shut it down. An update on the website would have been appropriate so that people don't book based on unavailable services. I found it misleading and it made the overcharge sting more. While in the lobby we asked the staff for restaurant recommendations...while we waited, we saw a staff member hand discount cards for beach admission to another guest during her check in process. We asked why we weren't given the cards and the woman stated she didn't know why not but gave us enough cards for exactly each adult dor that day and said we would have to come back each day for new cards. Nice, but what if we were not in the lobby at that moment? We would have over paid to get on the beach and the common courtesy wouldn't have been extended to us. Paying 6.00 for beach access is better than 9.00 per adult per day. By the way the beach is about 3 blocks away and you need to drive to Jenkins boardwalk if you don't want to pass out from heat stroke. On to the continental breakfast...when checking in we were given a handy sheet with some information about the manor. Next to the breakfast it stated a continental would take place from 8 to 10:30 or until supplies lasted. Well, on our first morning we were excited to see what was offered. I witnessed the maintenance staff bring an empty water cooler jug to the pool area. He then used the hose to fill the cooler with water that would be served to the guests. Umm, glad I bought bottled water from the Walgreens up the road. I then watched as the lobby staff took an empty plastic container complete with crumbs and poppy seeds to the gazebo. She placed about 14 bagels in it without wiping it down which makes me wonder about the last time it was properly cleaned. Okay, I said i will skip the water and bagels, there must be more to choose from. There was....a costco size box of froot loops, apple jacks and coco krispies. My son wanted cereal, so i figured it would be okay. We walked up and the woman took her gloved (though not newly) hand, shoved it into the froot loops and proceeded to put the handful of cereal in his bowl. Luckily my son isn't easily skeeved out, but i thought that was utterly inappropriate and had to buy some cereal and milk for the room to avoid a recurrence during our stay. Eventually 2 boxes of bakery donuts were brought and were the highlight of breakfast. That was until 9:55 when they began packing up the breakfast...yep the breakfast that was supposed to be available until 10:30. Since wifi is only intermittently available in the lobby, i had to sit in there for 25 mins looking up dinner options for my family. While in the lobby I heard a female staff member talking to a male staff member twlling him that he needs to watch the guests in 3 and 7 because they are a handful. A call came in and a woman was inquiring about their breakfast. She wanted to know if the menu included a gluten-free option. The man who answered the phone was uncertain so he placed her on hold. The female staffer picked up and rudely stated that they don't offer gluten-free breakfast. The woman must have asked if they could and she was told that they won't accommodate her, she could bring her own gluten free food or pick another hotel to stay in. Once she hung up the staffer began to berate her and other guests who feel they ahould be accommodated during their stay. All of this happened while a guest sat inthe lobby and could clearly hear what was said....very rude and inappropriate. The 2 stars are for the cleaning crew and male staff who were the only genuine workers there. I will not be back nor will i recommend this motel to any friends or acquaintances. If you are looking to book it and can get a reasonable rate less than 100, it might be worth it...but book with your eyes open knowing that their website is not accurate and many amenities are not as they seem. read more

Stayed here on somewhat last minute booking for two nights. Room had two double beds and separate couch sitting area. Room was clean. Beds were small and room did smell musty but its old so I guess that's to be expected. Pool area was nice to have for our young one. Plenty of towels for your stay which is good. My only complaint would be is when I went to the lobby area at about 6pm one evening to talk to the front desk about something, the tv was very loud and they had a 24 hour news network on at the time. Considering the times we live in and considering most of us don't want to hear the news on vacation OR need to know who they affiliate themselves with, I found it in such bad taste to have the news blasting throughout the lobby. No one cares except NOT to be inundated with the front desk employee obvious political choice. It doesn't matter if its a left or right news program - NO NEWS channel like that should be blasted in the lobby area. BAD TASTE and a real turnoff. I would suggest you tell your employee to save that for home? Just my 2 cents :) read more

I highly recommend looking elsewhere before booking with Point Pleasant Manor. Their cancellation policy is 2 weeks notice. This is obscene if you are booking something short notice. The Point Pleasant Manor is a VERY nice motel about 1 mile or 25 minutes walking from jenkenson's beach and boardwalk. Aside from the one issue with the pull out couch/ bed having a cigarette stained hole in the blanket in a NON SMOKING room, I would definitely recommend staying at the Point Pleasant Manor for a great stay that's near the beach! read more

We spent a weekend here. The room was nice & clean. It had a small frig. and microwave. I brought my own coffee pot. (although you can get a free coffee by the pool ) The room was a good size. Bathroom was a bit small with no shelves to put anything down on. Shower worked great even though it is small. The staff were very friendly. They offer a pool side continental breakfast with coffee, juice, crumb cake, & bagels. Very nice and it was FREE so no complaints . Though, We did not take advantage of it. The beach was very close and walking distance. Jenkinson's boardwalk was very far and we had to drive. It was at least a mile away. I would like to mention, they do have a free shuttle (As per the owner) to take you to and from the boardwalk. Was not aware of it. The pool was nice and had a lot of seating as well as tables. Parking was a little tricky. Had trouble finding a spot at times. 7-11 was about 500 ft. away and also a Pizza place. McDonalds & Burger King were also walking distance. read more
