I purchased a spa from Pelican and have had a lot of problems w the Artesian Spa. I've called pelican 4 times for a service appointment and no one has called me back! Terrible service they are all about the SALE! I may have to hire an attorney because my warranty expires in a month and they will not call me for a service appointment. Can only comment on the pool supplies. I stop at this place for pool chemicals. Most are at or below the average price and seem to be quality products. The pool accessories (floats, etc) are overpriced and you can do better online. It's a weird vibe walking in here. No one is very friendly and it's run by teenagers. Whenever I've had questions, no one seems like they know anything about what they're selling. I feel like this is a hotbed of local teenagers who were made to get a job by their parents and the store needed warm bodies. No one seems interested in going out of their way to help you. Would probably be inclined to buy more out of convenience if I received friendlier service. Hoping they work on training their help better because it would be great to have some basic pool questions answered while you're shopping. read more

Went there for the first time at the beginning of the season and have gone back 4 times already. The staff is super friendly and very helpful. They know their stuff and get straight to the point. I never felt they favored any particular brand and were incredibly helpful while making my purchases! Also, the offer discount lift tickets to local mountains. I am pretty sure that between my friends and me, we have bought over 30 tickets from them this season all ready! Yay! I love Pelican! I come here for all my winter (sports) fashion needs. I got a big poofy snowboarding jacket here for super cheap and soft, furry Northface mittens (children's size for my small hands) in the summer. It's nice that they have a selection of winter gear even in the summer time. There's a good selection of brands and prices and sale sections. They also have pool supplies and bathing suits, but I haven't actually bought anything in that category here. They have ski and snowboard rentals as well and they have really affordable rates and helpful staff. They also have coupons/deals for lift tickets with a few ski resorts. read more

If you plan to purchase any spa or pool, DO NOT PURCHASE IT FROM PELICAN! If something goes wrong with your hot tub or pool, they will ignore you forever. Manufacturer states that warranty repairs can only be done by the dealer you purchased from, so you will be stuck with Pelican, and fixing it yourself out of pocket. This happened to us, and to others if you read the reviews. Some responses from Pelican may include: "Bob will contact you shortly" , "Bob makes his own schedule", "We are working on it". It's been weeks of these responses, and still NO CONTACT. Even the manager of Pelican cannot reach his own service repair technician aka "Bob" and stopped responding to us. We came here to have maintenance done on our snowboards. It costs 40$ a board (which is fine) However, they literally did nothing. We paid 40$ for nothing. They did not sharpen it, or wax it. Customer service was phenomenal. I came in the other day with my daughters to rent skis for the season, and I was greeted with such kindness and knowledge from the employees. I first spoke with Olivia, who was incredibly kind and led me into the right direction when deciding whether to rent for the season or directly from the ski club they're in. She ultimately convinced me to rent from here, since it would be much cleaner to have our own and the girls could use them outside of their weekly trips. We also decided to purchase helmets because she told us the importance of ski safety. I'm just as new as my girls to this so I was unfamiliar with what gear they needed. Luke helped the girls with finding the right size skis and boots, and made sure that they were comfortable in them too! He said that the boots should feel slightly snug but not uncomfortable, which was great to know and eased my worries. He went above and beyond with his assistance and advice about skiing. They went on their first ski trip already, and they had an absolute blast! He also set the skis to pop off when they fell, so thankfully no bad falls! I am an intermediate skier and went there to rent skis for my two kids. The rental staff was very helpful and patient getting the kids outfitted with everything they need. I also realized that it would be significantly cheaper for me to buy skis rather than rent year after year, so I went back a few weeks later. John Manolatos was incredibly helpful, thoughtful, and full of knowledge around the boots and skis. He helped immensely. Call this to see if I could get a part for my filter. They said they would have to take a message and have someone call me back. I proceeded to say I don't want to waste my time to go there if you don't have the part. Asked to speak to someone in a pool section they said sorry no one was available. Walked in about a 10 minutes later and 4 pool service workers were just standing there. Ask the one young man if he had this part he basically didn't want to help me. I went in looking to figure out a leak in my sand filter. I asked the Salesman if I could take apart the filter and just replace it. I was told that it would cost the same as replacing the filter. I was about ready to buy a new filter then told that it would have to be ordered and would take about a week. Not an option - I looked online and found the part # and asked if he had it. He went to the back came back out and asked the part # again. We don't have it. I can order it. By this time pretty frustrated with his lazy attitude. I can't say enough good things about Pelican, and the Morris Plains location in particular. My son needed a snowboard, boots and all accessories for ski club. I had a such great experience last weekend last week working with one of there employees when renting skis for my family that I thought I should write this review. I believe his name was Mike K and he was very adamant about getting us the best equipment he could at the lowest cost. He even went as far as to go down to their warehouse to get us a good pair of skis as they were running low do to the amount of customers they had. Not many people would do that and would have just given us any other pair of skis that are 5 or so years old by the looks of it. I was very satisfied with the amount of time he got us out in. For a family of 4 he did all of our equipment in less then 30 minutes which isn't usually the case especially on the weekend. My family had been renting here for many years and I can say me and my wife have never really had a bad experience here. read more

Had a wonderful experience at Pelican. We were looking to buy a cover for a fire pit I ordered from a different company online the night before. They happened to have the exact model on the floor. Even though I purchased the pit elsewhere, our salesperson, Megan, was very helpful, opening covers and trying them on so I can see the fit. Pelican had other fire pits we liked more, at even better prices. As it turned out, we cancelled our previous online purchase and bought one from Pelican instead! We hadn't been to Pelican before 2020. We wanted to get a hot tub this year due to COVID. When I went there they were all sold out, but one became available (due to a cancellation). Lucky for me it was the model I was hoping to get - Artesian L965. A few months later it arrived at my house. The reason for 4 out of 5 is because we had a miscommunication about the hot tub cover. I'm still without the correct cover. Other than this (which I think is in process of being corrected), the process was easy and JD was great in sales. I was on the search for my first paddle board. I went to many surf shops and SUP shops, all great. But at Pelican, the customer service was amazing. The knowledge of paddle boarding and all the accessories that go with the board, etc was amazing. We had a guy that was very involved and knowledgeable. I am so happy to have ignored the bad reviews. John Manolatos is a saint. I have been suffering with bad rental boots for years. I didn't believe anyone could fit my high arch, high instep with athletic calves. Plan on a good hour because they do a thorough assessment. I left with (dare I say) comfortable ski boots with amazing support in all the areas I have been hurting. Given I skied all weekend, I was very sensitive to areas of pain. John is an expert. As someone that researches every single option before I buy, I had the ultimate trust in this man's skill and knowledge. It felt awesome for the first time in a very long time, to put trust in his recommendations without feeling "sold" to. Anyone that knows me knows this doesn't happen, well, really ever :) Worth every dime. I thought the prices were fair and Pelican (as a result of John) has earned a customer for life. Walked in looking for a pool, there's only one pool sales man and he was with a customer. So I browsed while I waited until he was finished. He was pretty knowledgeable about pools but I found him up selling to the higher end model. I just wanted a pool for the summer and would last me a couple of years. I told him I would take the basic model. He then went on to say it was a bad pool and it wasn't going to last much . I ordered it anyway and was installed by MC construction. The pool is fantastic. Great material and design and no complaints! I like pelican but they're over priced in certain areas don't buy a filter or motor or any pool parts. You're better off going to a discounted pool store or buying a used one. The pool itself was great and delivered on time. Don't let the sales people fool ya. I first called about specs and availability of a board. The caller helped me out but also invited me to their demo event happening tomorrow. After the demo event, I decided I didn't want the Alana but a riviera Nugg - not something I would have chosen myself- but it was based on my ride there. We came in to purchase the SUP and the happened to have the perfect color (dark teal and lime green) in stock! On top of that was a super knowledgable sales associate, Timothy. He was more than patient and helped me decide between a few other things I was looking to pick up ( paddle, leash) and even talk me through specs of this board an another that was recommended. I purchased a hot tub cover (in stock) on Sunday, June 7, 2015. When asked when I would like it delivered, I told Lou, the salesman/hot tub manager(?), any time that week. He informed me they would call when it delivery would be made. When I hadn't heard anything by the following Sunday (6/14), I called and asked Lou when I could expect delivery; he informed me by Tuesday or Wednesday of that coming week. When I received a call from Lou on Friday, I assumed he was calling to let me know the cover was on its way. WRONG!!! His message was to ask me if I had received the cover yet. I called back on Saturday, June 20th and let a message for Lou, letting him know the cover still hadn't been delivered. When my call wasn't returned, I called on Sunday (6/20) and scheduled a delivery for Monday, 6/22/15. As of 11:49AM, still waiting. I bought my hot tub from them and have purchased skis from them also. Bottom line is they are V-E-R-Y expensive and everyone in either the ski shop or the spa store acts like they are doing you a favor by allowing you to purchase items from them. I'd give them a pass if I were you. read more

My experience at this store was wonderful. We went in looking for a hot tub to replace our old one that started leaking. The salesman Jeff was very knowledgeable and took his time with me and my husband. He showed us many models and discussed the warranties and differences. We were there on Memorial Day so the price was outstanding because of the sale they were running. They included delivery, steps, a cover, cover lifter and chemicals in the price. They charged me an additional fee to remove my old tub as well but it was reasonable and expected. They had the tub in stock and were able to deliver it 3 days later. The delivery went very smoothly too. The 4 guys were pleasant and did a great job of removing the old one and placing the new tub where I wanted it. Once they left we filled it and had it connected and were in it the same night. It's exactly what we wanted and we are in love with our hot tub again! I would definitely go back to this store in a heart beat. It was a pleasure shopping there! read more

Visited the store in Morris Plains around 5pm on Sunday shopping for a jacket and 3 day rentals for my 17 year old daughter. There was one other couple in the entire rental department. Three store employees were seated by the department entrance talking and not busy helping anyone. I asked for assistance getting the boot size and skis. I explained that we would pick up on Thursday night but i would be pressed for time so we wanted to get everything organized ahead of time then simply pick-up thursday night. One of the 3 associates, Pete, said 'you know, you can get that done Thursday night". I explained that i preferred to get it done now. He then started arguing with me. I politely repeated my request at which point he grudgingly got up, mumbled that it's twice the work for him, grabbed a pair of boots and threw them at my daughter' feet. Mind you, all 3 are seated doing absolutely nothing. We left the store, proceeded to another store down route 10 where i bought my daughter a $395 Descente jacket, $195 pants, and, yes, the rentals. I'm not one for customer reviews but this was the worst customer experience ever!! The edge from a pair of Rossi skis I own delaminated so I received a new pair from the warranty earlier this year. I bought them in Utah and needed to get them remounted. I've bought a bunch of stuff at Pelican over the years and it's close to my office. But the price they charge for mounting is higher than other shops. So I called and asked if they would match Ski Barn's price - and they agreed. I got there and some salesperson started going off on me. "Who told you that? Why don't you just take them to Ski Barn then?...." It was unbelievable! His colleague said he was having a bad day. I asked for my skis back and decided to leave. I would stay away from this shop. read more
