    Swedish meatballs

Very cute place, very crowded but overall still very quick service. The food was good - we had the Swedish meatballs and mushroom filled potato dumplings. Just what you'd expect when trying classic Swedish dish.

We came here on a cold and rainy night and felt like Pelikan was the warm hug we needed. The meatballs and cocktails really hit the spot. I distinctly remember I enjoyed the assortment of herring. As an American, we don't get much selection of herring so when in Sweden...you gotta try as much herring as possible. The way they pair it with herbs and sauces is *chefs kiss* Absolutely delightful.

Going to try for our first time.

A historic restaurant dating back to the 1600's relocated to this spot in 1800's featuring traditional Swedish cuisine. We ordered the meatballs and cod dish along with herring and anchovy appetizers that were exceptional. Great service in a large hall. Ambiance was casual.

Went to Pelikan for lunch and can highly recommend. Delicious food and very efficient serving. The meatballs were great but the potato dumplings were tasty too!

Loved it. We came here after seeing the menu and me just really trying to find the most original/Swedish food I could find to truly take in my whole experience of my trip. After booking a quick reservation here, I was super glad that I did! I would definitely recommend to book a reservation as this place filled up and finding a table by just walking in, is a slim chance to none especially on a weekend. Getting that out of the way lets get to what I ordered. I originally planned on coming here specifically to eat the herring. So because of that I shared the SOS which was herring 4 types of flavors. And I think that's what made that dish for me. It would go amazing on bread but also just good in general. The dinner came with complimentary bread so that was perfect to go with this appetizer. Following that we ordered two mains. The meatballs along with the reindeer. We've had meatballs before but these were big, and with the sauce just awesome. It was super flavorful and I would say the best we had during the duration of our trip. The reindeer was just like steak, super tender and flavorful with surprisingly not big gamey flavor as you would taste with deer. The meat sort of just melted in your mouth and with the cheese along with the sauce it was awesome. Overall, I would say if you're looking for authentic swedish food and want an experience in eating the culture this place is a have to go to restaurant. Some of the items here I don't think I saw on any other menu, and I would say I was super glad in coming here over what I had originally planned.

For our first night in Stockholm we were looking for a classic Swedish restaurant & looking online there were obviously many to choose from so we decided on Pelikan based on all of the great reviews it has received. The second we walked in we were immediately impressed with the atmosphere & the good vibe we felt. After having a cocktail we decided we'd order an appetizer( 4 kinds of Herring ) and for the main course we got the Duck & Reindeer. Everything was excellent especially the Herring. Our server did a nice job of explaining all of our options and giving us some recommendations. The only downside to this restaurant is the tables are extremely close to each other so you won't get a lot of privacy especially when they're busy which likely is most of the time & the prices are just a bit on the high side but the atmosphere, food & service makes it all worthwhile.

I had a lovely dinner at Pelikan. The selection of herring (starter) was exquisite. Potato dumplings (main dish) were nice too. I was particularly impressed by the herring starter. There were four different varieties of cured herring; cured with sweet vinegar, herb-based (dill?) sauce, one with chopped onion, and another one that I couldn't quite identify. The potato dumplings were much much nicer done the name might convey. The dumpling skin was chewy and was different than Anything else I have taste it before. It was not quite like Italian ravioli, gnocchi, or various types of Chinese dim sum dumplings. Veggie-based filling felt quite meaty. I believe it's based on mushrooms. Spinach, mushroom, and lingonberry provided nice variety too, although the oil (butter?) that The dumplings are swimming in was a little bit much for me.

Pelikan was a must-try on my journey to Stockholm, and it mostly lived up to my expectations! While I was very disappointed to be seated at the bar even with a reservation, the staff was kind and knowledgeable about the menu. The space itself was beautiful, covered in paintings and nice lighting. I got a cheese and herring plate paired with Aquavit, and the pig knuckle with mash. Both were magnificent, with the pig knuckle being extremely tender, fall off the bone. One of my favorite meals in Sweden.

Speaking as a tourist, this restaurant is a must visit for anyone visiting Stockholm. The menu is traditional swedish, but many of the entrees and starters have broad appeal. The only downsides is they sell out of items, like the asparagus soup that I wanted to try and another dish. Also the hall is quite noisy. Finally, no one wears a mask, and to be fair that's the case here in Stockholm. So if you're squirrely about COVID you might want to try eating outside at the benches. We took the risk... Make sure you get the off menu appetizer of the shrimp ball with dill. We didn't know about this and regretted it. We came for the meatballs and the meatballs were st stellar. If you eat meat, you need to get these in your belly. The beer selection is pretty robust too, so make sure you grab a brew. Make sure you get the creme brulee for dessert, normally I don't eat it, but theirs was outstanding Service was very accommodating, and thankfully like many people here, the staff speak English very well.

It's pretty much a one person show from what I could see. The owner attended to me efficiently and without the slightest hesitation. I'm sorry to say that I don't speak Swedish (I wish I did I can tell you) but he was able to communicate with me and for that I will always be grateful. My plate had, if I recall correctly, four breaded and fried herring fillets. It had a coleslaw (which I found a surprising addition, creamy mashed potatoes, pickled cucumbers, red onions, and a little wedge of crispbread. I loved every bite. It was a generous plate. I particularly enjoyed eating a combination of the potatoes, cuke, onion, and fish on a corner of the crispbread as I munched away. There are a few nearby picnic type tables. So there was a place I could sit and enjoy this meal overlooking the water and a corner of the old town. If you find yourself in Stockholm, do yourself a favor and go to here. Even if you think you don't like herring, try it this way. I bet you'd be surprised.

Everything you'd need for the perfect meal out! They do not accept reservations and we went on a Sunday evening around 8:30 pm. We waited about 30 minutes, but boy was it worth it! We were seated at a cute little corner table that had pads on the benches, right next to a window to see the street. Lighting was dim and cozy. Service was the best I've had in recent memory. Our waitress was peppy despite having to deal with a long line and probably a long day. She was friendly, attentive, and so cheerful! 100/10. We started with the reindeer salad since my bf had never had reindeer before. While the reindeer seemed less cooked than expected, by the end he really liked the mix of flavors and thought it paired well with the salad. We both got the Swedish meatballs for our entrees and loved them! We both loved the pickled cucumbers and lingonberries. The lingonberries pair so well with the meat! While there are only 3 meatballs, they were so huge neither of us could finish all of them. Especially because I wanted to save room for dessert: the sponge cake! While it didn't look like much on presentation, it was surprisingly moist and the cream and berries were absolutely delicious. My bf said he was only going to have one bite (he's not a big dessert guy) but instead ended up eating half! Highly recommend! Overall would come back again just for the vibes, service, dessert, and to probably try another entree, which I'm sure would be good as well!
