Out of all the meatballs I had in Stockholm these were drenched in the best gravy. They have affordable prices for the lunch option which comes with salad bar, juice, and coffee. Very glad our tour guide recommended!
Chill, relaxing atmosphere. Simple dishes, yet delicious, authentic Swedish cuisine . I would give this restaurant a 10 out of 10 and would highly recommend. Excellent service.
A very nice restaurant with delicious mashed potatoes. It was nice and cozy eating here while it rained and was freezing outside. The meatballs and mashed potatoes were perfection. Honestly, the mashed potatoes stole the show, they're so creamy and buttery, very well done. We also had their fish, and it paired really well with the berry sauce.
The staff was really pleasant but food was not great. This was our third stop choice after the first two were really backed up on a Saturday night. The meatballs were dry- so dry in fact, a lot more sauce was needed to be able to eat them. The mashed potatoes also had zero seasoning /taste to it. The seared Herring dish was quite fishy and underwhelming. The salad had a ton of wilted leaves. Again, great service but food is meh.
Very cozy and cute Swedish restaurant right by the tram station! The waitresses were helpful and friendly, and our table of three was seated immediately. All the dishes were delicious, particularly the meatballs and the herring, and the drinks were incredible too.
I'm glad we stopped in here for dinner. A classic scandi restaurant serving herring with mashed potatoes and lingonberries, meatballs, various fish/seafood dishes, and a couple veggie options. The cauliflower main dish was excellently paired with various sauces, and seasoned well throughout. Service was a little slow, but friendly. I was never able to flag someone down to order a second drink but it wasn't a big deal.
When in Sweden for the first time, I wanted to eat local cuisine. The small pub in the Gamla Stan. We were strolling the area and thought this would be a great spot to try as they served local cuisine and had outdoor seating. English menus were available, you have to ask. Service was friendly. Food was spectacular and the portions were plenty. I went with the reindeer cutlet, thick, tender and well seasoned. Loved the fresh lingonberries served with it. The real surprise was the fluffy creamy delicious mashed potatoes and fresh peas. And over great meal for the price. Highly recommend trying this spot when in Stockholm.
I wish lingonberries would catch on back in the States. I fully expect some hipster Scandinavian fusion restaurant in a popular metropolitan area to start serving some sort of Thanksgiving dish with lingonberries instead of cranberries in the next 20 years or so. Given its location in Gamla Stan, I was expecting some sort of restaurant that would prey on tourists' wallets, serving up sad, sparse meals and calling them authentic. This couldn't have been further from the truth. After an afternoon exploring narrow medieval cobblestone streets, we decided on traditional Swedish food, and were promptly seated for dinner at Slingerbulten. The interior of the restaurant looked like a cozy and elegant pub. I had the seared baltic herring with melted butter, lingonberries, and mashed potatoes. While it was certainly pricier than what I would have paid for a seafood dish in California at 165 SEK (coming out to almost $20 USD), it was admittedly one of the best seafood dishes I have ever had, and my god, the lingonberries! The fish was just crispy enough to be considered fancy comfort food. Our server was friendly and spoke very fluent English. Restroom, however, was kind of gross, especially since it was fairly early in the evening. To continue the pub analogy, imagine a slightly sticky restroom floor at the end of the night...
Another restaurant specializing in traditional Swedish food. I also at Tradition this trip which was the stronger and more expensive of the two. Both were excellent but in contrast this was less refined while still quite tasty. My other complaint is that what the dessert menu said was a pie or crumble was actually quite clearly cake. This 4 stars. The food was authentic. Well prepared and tasty. Would highly recommend along with getting reservations.
This was our favorite restaurant in Stockholm. We went three times during our four day visit. Weekday lunch is a must!!!! You order at counter and they deliver your meal. Try have unlimited salad bar, bread, tea, coffee, juice and cookies. You can have meatballs for cheaper at lunch. These are the best meatballs and gravy in Stockholm!!! For dinner we had the reindeer which was amazing! It was our favorite of the two places we tried reindeer. Also had meatballs at dinner. Same portion as lunch but more money. Bread basket is only white rolls here and the wafer crackers. Dinner prices are lower than nearby restaurants! Friendly staff and good service. Free wifi with password which is their phone number.
We selected Slingerbulten after traversing all around Gamlastan and reading the menus at every restaurant on the two main streets. Slingerbulten seemed to have the most reasonable prices and interesting, Swedish sounding dishes. We got there around 6 in the evening and were able to snag one of their tables inside. As we dined, other parties had to be turned away because of lack of seating and lots of reservations, so get there early! Having settled into our seats, we ordered some Scandanavian beers - I had the manadens ol, which tasted like an IPA. Our server brought out complimentary bread, which was amazing - crusty on the outside and super soft inside, but the cracker thing tasted like cardboard, so don't waste stomach space on that. For entrees, my sister ordered the reindeer and venison dish and I had a breaded pike perch. The pike perch was excellent! I loved the light breading that gave it a bit of texture, the fish was super moist and that mushroom sauce underneath was earthy, creamy and just super tasty. I was constantly mopping my fish in that amazing sauce. I had a bite of my sister's reindeer/venison meat hunk - it was really lean and a bit gamey, so the tartness and sweetness from the lingoberry was a great pairing for that dish. Definitely one of the better restaurants in Stockholm with classic dishes.
A nice place to have authentic, or at least I was told it was authentic, Swedish food. I had a delicious beef cheek dish with mashed potatoes that I thoroughly enjoyed along with a local Pilsner that I would recommend. The service was good as well as the pricing.
A nice spot for dinner in Gamla Stan. Came here for dinner on back-to-back nights while staying in Gamla Stan. The food is authentic Swedish, cooked well, and the service is solid. Given that restaurants and food are relatively pricy in Stockholm, this was a nice find. It's located on the same street as many other restaurants and bars.

Absolutely loved our meal here. The taste, portion, price, and ambiance were all excellent. We had the Wallenbergare served with clarified butter, mashed potatoes and green peas for 145SEK and the fried herring served with lingonberries, clarified butter and mashed potatoes for 160kr. Loved them both and would come back for sure. There is a small self serve buffet for salad, bread, lingonberry juice and coffee. As an aside, this may be the best drip coffee we've ever had, anywhere. Smooth, caramel, complex, with no bitterness. No reservations during lunches which occur 11am-3pm. We were lucky to only wait a few minutes, but there was generally a line the entire time. Service was friendly. Thanks and see you next time!! read more
We are creatures of habit. You find a good place with more natives than tourists, fantastic food and good lunch prices, and you keep returning. It is 18 degrees and my body says it is 4AM but I WANT THIS FOOD. I am really hoping today's selection will be swedish hash or this fish soup. Nope, but swedish meatballs and salmon will nicely fill our bellies. Your lunch comes with a small salad bar, bread, coffee, tea, lingonberry juice and I see cookies hiding. Grab your tableware here. The 5 Swedish meatballs came with mashed potatoes, pickled cucumbers,lingonberries,and brown gravy. A nice chunk of salmon came with baby potatoes, grilled asparagus and bernaise sauce. Both meals delicious.Hubby and i tend to share our meals so we each get to taste each other's. I dont think it is customary to leave a tip in Sweden but the machine asks if you want to leave one. I went with 10%. Total cost out the door for 2 delicious and filling meals was just under $40. That is $20 each for you non math people:) We will return. I am still on the hunt for that fish soup. The menu is posted outside. Those are your choices for the day which includes a vegetarian choice. Staff is very welcoming and speaks English. I HAVE BEEN COMING HERE FOR YEARS. read more

Centric, lovely & trendy restaurant! We went here in summer so we had a nice little table outside. The selection of beers & wines is great too. We had: Meatballs served with lingonberries, pickled cucumber, cream sauce and mashed potatoes + Reindeer medallions served with smoked bacon lardons, chantarelle mushroom sauce, lingon berries and potatoe gratin. Good good! Centrico, amoroso & popular resto! Vinimos en el verano asi que nos sentamos en una linda mesita afuera. La selección de cervezas & vinos es muy buena también. Almorzamos: albondigas servidas con arándanos rojos, pepinillos en vinagre, salsa de crema y pure de papas + medallones de reindeer servidos con cubitos de panceta ahumada, salsa de champignones, arándanos rojos y papas gratinadas. I came here for lunch since it's really hard to find a restaurant in Stockholm open on a Sunday. Most of the restaurants are closed on Sundays except a few in Gamla Stan since there's a lot of tourists. They actually give a bread basket (dinner roll and knäckebröd - swedish rye crispbread). We ordered the fish soup and the grilled salmon. The fish soup was amazing. There were large chunks of fish and the garlic bread with aioli that came with it was the most delicious thing I've eaten in Sweden. The salmon was delicious as well, a generous portion. Both dishes were hot which was great on a cold day. The prices were decent for the large portions even though it's in a relatively touristy area. I saw they have deals on Monday-Friday for lunch (95 kr dishes) so it's probably better to come at that time. read more

Make sure you make a reservation as it gets very crowded. We're told that they hold a few tables for walk-ins but you still might end up waiting for a table. We had the meatballs, seared cod, beef cheek, and fish soup. Meatballs were nice, but not mind blowing. They were served not as hot as I would have liked it, probably this dish was the first to be prepared. The mash however was great! Seared cod was really good. They didn't overcook it and the texture was just right. This was my second favourite dish of the night. Beef cheek... Two words: get this! The beef cheek just melted in my mouth. The mushroom and bacon that accompanied this dish really went well with beef. My fave dish of the night! Fish soup however was a disappointment. It was too salty for my liking and lacked the strong seafood taste that I really like. There are other places that serve better fish soup. My brother liked this though, so it might suit those who like a lighter version of the soup. Overall, a really pleasant experience with great dishes in a nice homely atmosphere. Service was great! The servers were really friendly and accommodating. Would recommend this place for sure! read more

Slingerbulten is located in Gamla Stan and serves traditional Swedish comfort food. We had a booking and upon arrival we waited about 5 minutes before anyone even acknowledged we were standing there. The waitresses were running from table to table making a lot of small talk with the customers. Overall service was a bit slower than I would have liked but the food was decent. read more

Traveling in Stockholm for work, colleagues and I picked this place off of recommendation from the concierge at the hotel. A short 10 minute walk from Central Station. Excellent experience. Great price for very high quality food. In beautiful Gamla Stan. I had the meatballs. They were delicious. Colleagues each had reindeer medallions and very much enjoyed them. Great value for food. Wait staff was the friendliest we've encountered so far in our week long stay. read more

Yea yea yea, it's located in the middle of touristy Gamla Stan. But I loved dining in that part of town most every night during my stay in Stockholm. Gamla Stan just seemed like a very happening place and Slingerbulten reflected that with packed patrons every night. So one night I decided to try this restaurant late at night and it didn't disappoint. They serve traditional Swedish food and that's exactly what I was looking for. So I ordered the reindeer smoked sausage and fish stew. Both were excellent and the portions were just right. The service was great too. The inside is quaint and cozy. It's not elegant but neither is it tacky. I found it to be the perfect place to relax and take a load off my feet after a busy day of walking around Stockholm. You may too. read more

Had a nice long lunch at this Gamla Stan Swedish comfort food restaurant. The fish soup was very good with herring, salmon, shrimp in a tasty broth. Terrific Swedish meatballs as well served larger than most places. The lunch menu is quite a bargain. For SEK 100 to 115 ($11.50 to $13) you get an entree with complimentary salad and bread, water or lingonberry juice, lite beer, coffee and tea. Only thing that I didn't care for was the beer, tasted like Budweiser. Service was pretty fast and courteous and for lunch it's a bargain. Would like to come back and recommended. read more
Slingerbulten is a great little restaurant in the heart of Gamla Stan. We originally came in without a reservation so we were unable to sit but made one for the following day and got in with no problem. Terrific Swedish cuisine and very affordable for the area. As a starter, we had the herring prepared three ways. All were very fresh and tasty. We had the reindeer over mashed potatoes and the Swedish meatballs. Really excellent choices. Service was fine. I recommend this place to anyone visiting Stockholm. read more
I came here for tasty Swedish cuisine and I got just that. For the starter, I had the salad of the day, a shrimp salad. And for the main dish, I had the ox neck marinated with red wine. It was prepared perfectly and the red wine really added an interesting flavor. It's a bit touristy and pricey but I think it's worth it for one dinner. read more
I had a long layover in Stockholm so I decided I wanted to explore the city. Slingerbulten is a great little restaurant in the heart of Gamla Stan with really reasonable prices (especially the lunch menu). It can get a bit crowded during lunch times but when I was there on a Tuesday afternoon, there was no wait. You had to order at the bar, and grab your own drink, bread, salad, etc (complimentary with your lunch entree). However, for around USD$15 - this was a no brainer. I tried the swedish meatballs, had lingonberry juice, along with some bread. It was a great price for the amount and quality of food. The location is also great and perfect for people watching. Highly recommend. read more
A little bit touristy, but we were wandering around Gamla Stan on a Saturday night looking for somewhere to eat dinner (we didn't make a reservation and that was a bad idea because places in Gamla Stan are small so on a busy night it's basically impossible to get a spot somewhere popular without a reservation beforehand). This was basically the only restaurant on the entire island that had space. Nothing was super outstanding or memorable, but the waiters were super nice and made us feel so welcome. read more

This place was really nice and they have nice lunch menu. We've gotten some Swedish classic meatballs and they were really delicious. I would highly recommend stopping there when you are hungry and in the middle of sightseeing the old town. read more

Thanks to Yelp I end up in this restaurant. It's not far from the old town of Stockholm. I was alone as I was on business trip and they did not have any issue to give me a nice table that could fit 4 people. The menu was in Swedish and in English which is as you can guess really helpful. They have the traditional Swedish meal that include meat ball but I went for the salmon. The starter also look delicious so if you are really hungry go for it. The salmon was served in a well presented plate with on a side a small plate with the potatoes. You could think it's not enough but remember: potatoes do fill you up! I also had asparagus with this in a nice tasty sauce. I did not leave anything in my plate, I could lick the plate if that was not badly seen Lolll I also have a glass of house white wine with (really good!) and they do give you bread with butter which is always nice to get. The cost: not expensive at all for a Swedish dish compare to what I have seen in other restaurant. So I have now one good address to share if someone ask me if I know any restaurant in Stockholm :) read more

Recommended by our hotel. We enjoyed it so much the first night we returned on our last (after a poor dinner at Flying Elk). Starters we enjoyed include the salmon, reindeer and herring. Main dishes not to miss are the meatballs, salmon, and lamb. No negatives at all. Excellent attentive service as well (superior to several other local restaurants). Highly recommended. read more
