Cheese quiche with salmon roe ... YUMMY
    Michael J.

We ordered the soup, three herrings (which was out of this world) and the salmon roe cheese cake (a must) starters. Great service sitting outside with semi privacy for a lovely meal.

    Swedish meatballs

Spent the afternoon strolling around old town and dropped in on this place for Swedish meatballs and this definitely didn't disappoint. Not pictured is the mushroom soup which was DELICIOUS! A cute and cozy spot away from the busier streets in Old town Stockholm

Let me just start by saying my goodness what a hidden gem this is. If our Airbnb was just down the street from the restaurant we likely would have never noticed it and I'm so happy we did even if it set the bar waaaay high for all of our other meals. My friends and I decided to have dinner here a bit late after arriving in Stockholm and although the place was nearly empty we were warmly welcome by our server. We ordered the reindeer stew, the fish casserole, and the three course meal (the only thing pictured unfortunately). We couldn't stop taking bites of each others food or decide which was best because everything was so uniquely amazing. Even the dessert of what was like a flourless chocolate cake was so good we had to order another. Once again our waiter was incredibly kind, welcoming, and has a great sarcastic charm. If you want a comfortable and intimate memorable meal I can't recommend them enough.

    Deer with potatoes and asparagus

Would recommend, but not the best food I have on my trip to Stockholm. Rick Steve's recommendation which is why we went then. Sat outside. Waitress was friendly. Had deer, not super tender, but tasty. Had the chocolate cake with ice cream, basically a brownie with ice cream. Best part of meal. Also had the moose carpaccio, it was good, but pricey. The truffle dessert was very good.

This restaurant is fantastic. Everything we ordered was amazing. The reindeer was really unique and special, and it was very flavorful. The staff was super nice. Five stars!!

    Fish stew- excellent!

The fish stew was excellent. Bread was great. The service was wonderful. The chocolate dessert was just OK. Ambiance was nice. Everyone eating there at the time I went including myself was American. I guess that's what happens when this restaurant is included in a Lonely Planet guidebook!

It's one of those time and timing is of the essence and one just has to say yes to things in life when you're actually living and feeling alive! These were one of the rare occasions that it felt like I went for it and embraced what my spontaneity had in store for me! Tucked away in the alleyways, I was very charmed to be doing the wine and dine here! Deer meat is a delicacy in Sweden so one must go with that and they conveniently offer the prix fix meal so you don't have to ponder on what to get! I do highly recommend going for it because the set meal was delectable! Our waitress has been there for years and recommended the Tempranillo reserva wine from Spain. It went smoothly well and definitely complimented the deer meat! Their creamy chanterelle soup served up, was a homely starter. Up next, was the deer meat cooked in red wine sauce, which was lightly gamey and tender. Every cut and bite should be eaten with the sun-dried lingonberries and rhubarb compote. The cheese flavored mashed potatoes, made the entree as a whole, complete. Last, but not least, to sweeten the palate, dessert was of white chocolate mousse, mixed in champagne, fragrant in elderflower and served with berries. It was a nice finishing touch to the entirety of the dinner meal. I was charmed here.

Fish Stew. My favorite of the plates we ordered.

In the heart of old town, the Kryp In is one of the best places you can eat. Frequently overlooked by the tourists walking by, plenty of locals will stop here for an excellent meal. Many have mentioned the bread basket and I agree, excellent. We came here for some local flavor at lunch. Swedish meatballs, reindeer and fish stew were on the menu. We order all of them and tasted. I had ordered the fish stew and liked it the most. Everything was well presented. Despite its small size they serve a great many people, if you have the chance eat here.

Good food and service but higher prices as can be expected. We had the reindeer. It was smaller slices than at slingerbulten. And not as good of flavor. We had white asparagus appetizer. Three pieces for $17. Ripoff!!!! But there was trout roe on it so that is why price was high. Excellent bread basket with white and brown bread. Loved the chive butter. Very nice atmosphere with candle light on your table. They have a few tables outside. Overall great atmosphere, but like the food better at slingerbulten. Free wifi. Clean restaurant and friendly staff.

It's pretty much a one person show from what I could see. The owner attended to me efficiently and without the slightest hesitation. I'm sorry to say that I don't speak Swedish (I wish I did I can tell you) but he was able to communicate with me and for that I will always be grateful. My plate had, if I recall correctly, four breaded and fried herring fillets. It had a coleslaw (which I found a surprising addition, creamy mashed potatoes, pickled cucumbers, red onions, and a little wedge of crispbread. I loved every bite. It was a generous plate. I particularly enjoyed eating a combination of the potatoes, cuke, onion, and fish on a corner of the crispbread as I munched away. There are a few nearby picnic type tables. So there was a place I could sit and enjoy this meal overlooking the water and a corner of the old town. If you find yourself in Stockholm, do yourself a favor and go to here. Even if you think you don't like herring, try it this way. I bet you'd be surprised.

Everything you'd need for the perfect meal out! They do not accept reservations and we went on a Sunday evening around 8:30 pm. We waited about 30 minutes, but boy was it worth it! We were seated at a cute little corner table that had pads on the benches, right next to a window to see the street. Lighting was dim and cozy. Service was the best I've had in recent memory. Our waitress was peppy despite having to deal with a long line and probably a long day. She was friendly, attentive, and so cheerful! 100/10. We started with the reindeer salad since my bf had never had reindeer before. While the reindeer seemed less cooked than expected, by the end he really liked the mix of flavors and thought it paired well with the salad. We both got the Swedish meatballs for our entrees and loved them! We both loved the pickled cucumbers and lingonberries. The lingonberries pair so well with the meat! While there are only 3 meatballs, they were so huge neither of us could finish all of them. Especially because I wanted to save room for dessert: the sponge cake! While it didn't look like much on presentation, it was surprisingly moist and the cream and berries were absolutely delicious. My bf said he was only going to have one bite (he's not a big dessert guy) but instead ended up eating half! Highly recommend! Overall would come back again just for the vibes, service, dessert, and to probably try another entree, which I'm sure would be good as well!
