08/15/2025: Below is my original review. Pella responded asking me to contact them with an email provided. I did so, not one responded. I noticed this replay to others when the review was similar to mine, got the same email. Pella is a good product, they simply need to clean up their customer service act. At this time, I want no further communication to the Pella company. August 4, 2025 post: I rarely write a review as awful as this one. I am known for being fair, balanced, and accurate. I pride myself on being just that. Pella Windows of Birmingham was just awful to work with from pre/during/post experience. Allow me to explain. The property was a Loft in a loft building downtown. When ordering the product, each member of the community had to outline, white or black interior color. I clearly listed black. When the windows were being installed, they were installing white. I stopped the installation and shared my concern. I was told I ordered white. So, I sent the work order that I saved because I keep all documentation especially for contractors. They still said even with the documents that I was wrong. The salesmen were completely out of line and a horrible communicator. I come from a position of strength here, prior to retirement, I wrote curriculum and trained truly professionally sales consultants for fortune 100 and 500 companies. Instead of replacing the windows with black ones, they said they would paint them and give me a refund of 10%. It took four months to have them painted which was horrible, and then I was told no refund because I did not keep the white windows. Strike 2. Strike 3 was that the windows were missing a piece that was cosmetic. I was told it was ordered and would be installed when it came in. That was 6 years ago, and even after following up many times, nothing happens. Then the window seal came out, the locking mechanism on all windows did not work. I called and was asked for a video and the serial number for each window. For the life of me, I could not find that serial number. So, they Charged me $200.00 to have a member of their service staff come to my loft. They agreed the windows needed the seal replaced and the locks were defective. They said they would be put on order and when they came in, I would be notified. That was three years ago. I called several times and was told the parts were not in yet. One year ago, I sold the unit. So why am I writing this review NOW. Because I get emails from Pella sometimes four times a month asking me to buy from them. I have had enough. As a matter of fact, my daughters home needed all the windows replaced. Pella was never, nor would they ever be considered. I hope I helped some of you. Honestly, our experience with Pella was stellar! I was surprised to see as many negative reviews out there but then I think lots of things can go wrong with windows and doors no matter who sells and installs them. John Svenson sold us the windows and was lovely. I knew almost the minute he walked in the door i wanted to work with him. We had gotten pitches from Anderson and Champion and one other and we were tired of the whole process--the prices were either ridiculously high or low--the low priced ones were vinyl and clearly lower quality and the quality of the salespeople was poor, although they were all nice. But John came in and he was at the right price and was easy to deal with. We have a 50 year old house and needed 18 windows...we knew at that point we wanted fiberglass and felt Pella offered great quality at a reasonable price so we were an easy sale at that point. The installation included covering all the wood part of the windows outside masterfully, too. I think the installer's name was Aron. There were 5 installers. They worked hard and politely and it only took 2 1/2 days. We were impressed with all of it and the windows are lovely, When i read some of the reviews--maybe I will have problems down the line but that is possible with any window...I am hoping for the best...right now we are very happy with them. Finally, I note that I wish that John had texted or called us at some point in the middle or end of the job or acknowledged us in any way--to ask us about whether we were happy with the work. (Gosh or even showed up at the job!) I'm a marketing professional and study relationship marketing and recommendations--the sales person should go out of their way after the sale to make sure the customer is happy with everything but instead we got no contact. I really feel the company is missing an opportunity for the after-sell by not encouraging the sales rep to recontact the customer after the job. I had three companies come out and give me a quote for my windows. I decided to consider wood windows and gave Pella a call. Carlos came out and the very first thing he said was that I'd either have to go with wood windows or change my color scheme outside and do a slightly different brown with vinyl. Not ONE of the other companies had even mentioned that my wood windows outside were painted and truthfully, it hadn't occurred to me (just recently bought the house). The trim is also painted so had I gone with one of the vinyl companies it would have looked hideous. I immediately appreciated Carlos bringing this to my attention and saving me from a possible $15,000 mistake going with one of those companies. The other companies preferred to let me deal with this after they got my money. That was already major points for me towards Pella. To continue, Carlos was ALWAYS available. I would get a response immediately when I had a question, this continued after they already had my money. He showed up on the day of install and came so far three times after that to check in (seriously, that alone is impressive). I'm a tad OCD so of course I had things I wanted them to fix after construction. When I brought it to his attention he came out that same day, and on a Sunday! The next day, they had someone out to go over everything further. When I tell you the responses were always immediate, I'm truly not exaggerating. Communication was great, Carlos would also have Andria, the scheduler in with every email or text (she was incredible as well). The lead, Jeff, was also awesome. No one ever acted frustrated with me when I wanted something else, instead they set the appointment up and followed through. Carlos also went above and beyond to find a painter for me to paint the exterior wood windows (another guy that did a great job). I'm a tough person to please and Pella gets my recommendation all the way around. Thank you Carlos, Jeff, and Andria for truly caring about your work, because it shows. I need to let the rest of the world know who not to contact for replacement windows. It is disgusting that such a large national brand window company would have such incompetent personnel in field operations. A brief recap for you since I am confident that no one with Pella has actually looked at my situation in detail. My project included 14 individual windows and as a result of an incompetent salesperson a/o person making the "exact" measurements, the installation team could only completely and successfully install 6 of the 14 windows. What does this say about Pella?? The front of my home has a Pella scab which includes a foil back material filling a transom window slot because an incompetent processor somewhere along the way in the Pella food chain failed to get the quantity of windows correct. Additionally, the "final measurement" was WRONG for three windows and one window was broken in shipment. I contacted my sales person who offered zero assistance. The person coordinating the installation obviously saw no need to prioritize windows to replace the incompetence that put me in this situation noting the ETA for correcting Pella's comedy of errors would be four weeks. Very knowledgeable and friendly. Came exactly when scheduled and don't use any other windows. They really are the best.

Please be aware that Pella does not stand behind their product. Their warranty is worthless. We called them to come inspect some of their installation because we noticed the windows were leaking and we had a serious problem with wood rot. There serviceman informed us that we should have been putting putty around the windows about every 5 years and oh yes the warranty wouldn't have covered any of that. Also be aware and you may want to Google a class action lawsuit that was brought against Pella for shoddy workmanship. A word to the wise-avoid these folks. read more

We have had a terrible experience with Pella over the past several months. We ordered our windows in July through Carlos, who assured us that Pella windows are "the Lexus of windows," whatever that means. The day of installment, Pella charged our account TWICE. Windows aren't cheap. They took several days to refund our money from the overcharge. When the installers finished that day, they noticed the grid of the picture window did not line up with the grid of the two windows on either side of it. They told us they would have to order another custom piece of glass for it. They left, and I had to fix a lot of their caulking where they left gaps. Several weeks later, they return to install the new glass in the picture window. They get it in, then notice it's the EXACT SAME as the wrong one before. Carlos is minimally responsive at this point, and pawns us off on the incompetent lady that charged us twice for the window in the first place. At this point, we've paid for the job in full, and it hasn't been completed. This past week (November!), they came with a THIRD piece of glass. The installation guys measure it before starting and realize that once again, it is incorrect. Either the office, the factory, or both are completely incapable of doing their jobs. At this point, we've taken 3 days off work to be there when they install the windows. Pella has wasted a tremendous amount of our time. Please save yourself some time and money and go with a different company! Maybe Pella used to be a good company, but those days are gone. Their customer service is garbage, and they can't seem to figure out how to fix their mistakes. I am nauseated that I gave this inept company my money. read more
