Cute little place to stop in for lunch. We make pierogi homemade so it's hard to be fair! You get a good amount. We ordered potato and meat. Couldn't really tell the difference between the two. They have sour cream portioned out in the beverage fridge for you. They primarily boil them and put butter on top. They will add hot sauce and cilantro if you want. We opted out of those. They come out steaming hot! The person making the pierogi was friendly and took orders too! She was busy! Definitely something to try when in Sitka, especially if you walked through the local Forrest and need a snack!

I was pretty excited for Pel'meni after seeing it on a YouTuber's channel at their Juneau location. When we arrived, the dumplings were already portioned out in styrofoam containers. Not sure how long they were sitting on the counter but they were pretty cold and hardened by the time we dug in. I asked what the recommended toppings were and was told everything: butter, cilantro, sriracha vinaigrette, curry powder and sour cream. Usually, the more the merrier when it comes to condiments for me, but this combo was a bit strange. Service is no nonsense, not the friendliest. Seating is minimal. We had to take ours to go and eat it two blocks down at the visitors center.

Stopped here while wandering around Sitka! Got the $9 potato dumplings w/o cilantro & they were a tasty treat to get out of the cold. Definitely recommend eating with sour cream. Service was very friendly & fast. Overall, a quick and yummy stop I would recommend to anyone in Sitka!

Yummy! You have a choice of potato or meat dumplings. Max loved the potato and I loved the meat. We aren't spicy fans so we opted out on the chili sauce. It's a small place next to the church. Go to your right when you get to the roundabout. Because we got in early, service was fast. Don't miss this Russian Dumpling treat.

Pel'meni is a bit hard to describe to the uninitiated but it's basically flavorful little dumpling things. Order the beef with everything on them and don't look back! Unless you're a vegetarian then order the potato if you must. The place has a little coffee shop like ambience, and expect to wait an inexplicable 10-20 minutes for your Pel'meni but it's delicious and I can't stop coming back.

Great tasting pel'meni, but unfortunately that's all they sell. Very pricey and you're not allowed to get half-and-half just one type. This establishment only sits 49 people, very crowded and warm inside. Also, the only two workers were very stressed out and didn't look too happy...we waited about 10 minutes to 15 minutes for our order. They also sell refreshments (water/soda) but very pricey, bring your own water. I was just passing by on a cruise port stop.

Beef or potato, you can't go wrong. Order both with everything on it. It's delicious. Small shop with limited seating. One person working the counter and making orders. Pay in cash and see them ring you up with their old timey cash register.

Quite possibly the most affordable meal in Sitka! At $9 per order you can't beat the value! Pel Meni is located in Downtown Sitka across from Wells Fargo Bank and behind the church. They are open late and have 1 thing on the menu- Russian dumplings. You can pick either the potato dumplings or beef and you get a generous serving of about 16 of these gems. They are topped with curry powder and hot sauce and served with a side of sour cream and a slice of rye bread. We ordered 1 of each and preferred the beef just a tad more. Both were delicious and satisfying. Parking can be tricky- however there is a larger lot near the post office towards the opposite end of the strip. Gotta give Pel Meni a try. You won't be disappointed!

I had seen this place as a recommendation for when I was in town and I'm glad I stopped. For $9 you can get a bowl of the Russian dumplings in either potato or beef. We tried both and they were each excellent. Small place inside but we shared a table with another visitor and had a nice chat. All the restaurants in town were hopping with cruise tourists but this place did a quick business and almost no wait. Come here for a more local experience!

Not far from St John's cathedral. Came here ordered the beef Russian dumplings to try with everything. Came with 16 dumplings for $9 a pretty good deal. The register the cashier used was really antique and interesting. Took about 15 minutes for the food to come out and we all enjoyed the dumplings. Definitely would come back, by myself for a full meal could probably eat two orders, but pretty good as a snack.

Great local business in Sitka! $9 Russian dumpling plates topped with butter, sriracha, curry powder, and cilantro. Really unique dish with fast and friendly service. The dumplings are chewy, delicious, flavorful, and explosions of savory chewiness. We ordered both the potato and beef-filled dumplings. I thought the potato ones were particularly tasty. Please come if you're in the area with your cruise, tourbus, or other travel group. Seems like a place locals stop by as well. Husband's Review: "The beef is very flavorful, and the topping make the dumplings taste great. Great price too. 5/5."

Very small, no frills place. The service was minimal. The potato pel meni were creamy and delicious, especially with the addition of the complimentary sour cream. It comes with a slice of pumpernickel bread, but I didn't understand its purpose as it seemed unnecessary.

Food was amazing but they need more staff to work on orders...there was only one person taking orders and preparing the food at the same time... read more

My favorite place in town! Nice ambiance, food pretty filling and worth the $9! Service is pretty good too! Didn't out 5 stars only because I wish I got more pels in my order. Juneau pels gives you more dumplings. Still love it though! read more

The food was really yummy! All the toppings made it amazing too. There's a potato or beef option. I got the potato. It comes with 15 but they're small so easily shareable if you want to try both fillings. The inside is a littler on the smaller side but the guy working was really nice and easy to talk to. The service took about 10 minutes to cook so it was nice and fresh. I was able to walk around and come back to them being ready. read more

Very small menu. They only serve dumplings. Only two options. Potatoes or beef. I got half and half. I recommend getting all the toppings. You can get as much sour cream as you want. They are steamed and very good. The service was fine. Simple place with a few tables. Playing 80s music while I was there. read more
We were in town for part of the day during a visit by our cruise ship. I'd done some early reconnaissance to scout out restaurants on yelp and this dumping place caught my eye since it's unique and had good reviews. As luck would have it, we were in town around lunch time and got hungry just about a block from the restaurant (it's a small, walkable town). We only had a few minutes before we had to race back to the ship, but when we entered the food was immediately ready. We got a couple orders of pelmini with ground beef, which were awesome. They were unfortunately out of potato dumplings. We had hot sauce on them and really enjoyed it. We also asked for tap water but they pointed us to the refrigerator to have to buy bottled drinks. That said, we'd come back again if in town. read more

A solid, unique place to stop for anyone checking out Sitka! We got both the beef and the potato dumplings, the only two options on the menu. The limited menu is not a bad thing though. Both were fantastic, and anyone visiting Pel'meni should absolutely get their dumplings with everything on it. Excellent food for lunch, or late night munchies. The guy working the place was very kind and very quick with our orders, too. Truly a gem in the heart of Sitka. read more
Fantastic stop for a snack or lunch. The menu is basic. Small dumplings (beef or potato) cooked to order with a number of toppings to choose from. That's pretty much it. The dumplings were tender, flavorful and a great value. Definitely authentic. Give it a try. read more

No frills, just good food. Since I was not familiar with pelmeni, Russian dumplings, this place caught my curiosity. I am so glad I stopped! It was so good that I had to get a second order. The texture, the chewiness, the flavor combination (get ALL the toppings) make pelmeni a wonderful experience. This place has found their simple culinary niche, and they do it excellently. Don't go for the ambience (plain) or the view (none) - just treat yourself to a great taste adventure. They are open extra late, and there is NO sales tax in Alaska!! read more

Came off the cruise and was looking something to snack on. This sweet little spot showed up on Yelp. I ordered one beef and potato dumplings. The beef dumplings reminded me of Chinese pork wontons; so juicy and had lots of flavor! The potato dumplings reminded of gnocchi! I got all of the seasoning on both and it was delicious, I would definitely come back again. Be patient since there is one person boiling the dumplings, taking orders, and checking out; although there can be a line it does move fast! read more

While in Sitka we stopped in because of a review I had seen on YouTube. We ordered an order of the potato dumplings & an order of the beef dumplings. It was 6 of us & we shared both orders, it was definitely plenty enough to share. They both were good but my preference was the potato. Would definitely recommend trying if in Sitka. read more

I came to Sitka for the first time today on a cruise. Our shuttle driver told us to check out Pel'meni and so it was definitely on the top of my list! Since I ate at Sitka Pel'mini I have not been able to stop thinking about these amazing dumplings!!! First off, the restaurant is very unique and one of a kind- it is covered in drawings done by the owner's family (not sure, but they are great and fun to look at) and there is a ton of records in the back corner to play. It definitely doesn't feel super touristy like some of the other restaurants. Though the menu is very simple and the set up extremely casual, the flavor combination is so good. I tried all the toppings together and I definitely would recommend it that way! Guy working there was super chill and friendly and all around good vibes. Very interesting flavor combo but somehow it all works. Not sure why i loved it so much but I REALLY DID. Fast service, great prices, perfect portion sizes for a quick bite or on the go, and customizable options! What's not to like? Go get some dumplings!!! read more

It was fun visiting this little shop for some traditional Russian dumplings. We had some with just sour cream (the traditional way) and some with all of the toppings. The price was good. It's just a little shop with a small menu but comfortable enough for a quick lunch or snack. read more

The cashier at a local gift shop recommended this spot and we are glad we came! Low key, open late; if you don't see a drink you like in the cooler, then pop next door to the Munchie Mart and grab a drink there. We had the beef dumplings with all the toppings.
