Have ordered & ate here 100+ times since they opened back in the late 90s, I believe. Food has been consistent for decades, fairly priced and delivery time is usually reliably 30-45 mins tops. Pizza is good, not the modern "wood fired artisan quality" but loaded with toppings/cheese and very filling, so if that's what you like in a pizza you will not be disappointed. Great affordable place to eat with something for everyone. The restaurant is bigger on the inside than it appears. The booths have plenty of space and you don't feel like you don't have your own area. Food is solid to good. They have pizzas and Mexican and wraps and all sorts of things. Definitely a great spot to go when people can't decide and it's also very good for kids. While in Sitka we took break between fishing days and explore the area. We happened upon Pizza Express and decided to try them out. This restaurant is actually a Mexican restaurant that also serves pizza and sandwiches. We ordered 2 large pizzas, a chicken enchilada and an order of chicken wings. They served us complimentary chips and salsa. The salsa was very good and they had two different types, one hotter than the other. I heard that the enchilada was pretty good but they served us chicken strips instead of wings because they ran out of wings. Chicken strips is not a substitute for wings when you are drinking beer and craving wings. The two pizzas were good, they weren't great but nobody complained. We were staying next door at Eagle Bay Inn and enjoyed a late lunch here. My $12.50 2-item lunch special was great. The shredded chicken burrito and shredded beef enchilada were tasty and shared room on the plate with yellow rice, refried beans and a small "salad" garnish of lettuce, tomatoes and onions. My husband's $22.00 Juan's Special medium pizza was tasty and half was boxed for supper later that day. It came with a raw tomato slice on each slice so we picked those off and ate them separately. We went here for Mexican food, even though you'd expect a pizza joint. In a strip mall near the now closed "suburban" location of the movie theatre. The place looks like a Mexican joint. Bright & colorful with Mexican accents. Believe it or not, I never ate Mexican food until I moved to Alaska as an adult. Back in the day, Mexican food wasn't ubiquitous in the NE USA. The good: Pizza is decent, possibly the best pizza I've had in Sitka for the price. Plus they deliver! Also a nice assortment of Mexican options. - The bad: I'd say that the nachos were maybe just average, maybe a teeny bit above average. The wait was a bit long but it was worth it. Free refillable chips and salsa. I ordered the Carne Azada and it was really good! The meat was very tender and flavorful. I've been here a couple more times and can say that the Mexican food here is pretty authentic. The pizzas however are a different story - mediocre. No place in an Alaskan strip mall that is questionably named Pizza Express could possibly offer anything beyond mediocre Ameri-Mex. But we were asked to go fetch a chili rellenos so we dove in. Just go. The flavors are deep, complex and crazy delicious. The chili rellenos and the tamale were ultra satisfying and like nothing I have experienced in the Lower 48. Ask for "house hot" to give your dish even more pep. So glad we set our bias and snobbery aside - this place is very satisfying! Fun staff and fun drinks. Great place to hang out and eat with friends, family, or yourself. Located next to the movie theaters, so good for before or after seeing a film! Parking area is a little hectic at times so better have good timing and know how to park, people get mad if you don't park right. Ask to wear a sombrero if you want because they'll let you unless it's your birthday then that's even better! Margaritas are nice and strong and so are the virgin ritas also tasty just sweeter. They have the best sopafillas in town and either with honey, chocolate, or caramel! Experience in here is always good. read more

While I was in Sitka for a few days, I placed an order for delivery online. An hour later I called to see if it was done yet. I was told that the chef said it was already out for delivery. Half an hour later, no food! I called back. They could not find my order or even tell me if it was indeed out for delivery. Talked to the manager. She wanted to give me store credit. I DON'T LIVE IN SITKA!!! When I told her that she said she would up all me back. More then half an hour after my second call and she still has not returned my call. When I finally got my food, it was all beyond cold and the ice cream was totally melted. IT SHOULD NOT TAKE MORE THAN AN HOUR AND A HALF TO GET YOUR FOOD!!! read more

Pizza Express is an institution in Sitka. It's been around for a long time. They've always excelled at Mexican and Pizza. Their sandwiches are pretty good too. While their pizzas aren't true East Coast style, they are plenty tasty for us Alaskan folks. Good homemade crust with a generous amount of toppings, you can tell the pizza's fresh, the bread smells very fresh. The dinners are also excellent, and a lot of people from Southern California have eaten there and commented on how good the food is. Sometimes around tax return time, and holidays, the meals get a little skimpy because they get so busy. the last couple pizzas we got were a bit on the thinner side. But for the most part the food is excellent. If you go in to eat, you will be greeted by very nice people who immediately serve you water and freshly made corn chips and salsa. Great chips by the way! Homemade salsa, mild or hot. We love both. The food comes on big heated plates and the servers make sure your drinks are always topped off. As I said earlier, this place is an institution in Sitka for good reason. It isn't easy to survive in this town. Pizza Express comes highly recommended. Try it, you'll love it! read more

This used to be our favorite restaurant. Tonite we waited 2 hours for a delivery, and it never arrived. We were told they wrote down the address wrong and tried to call us. But no one called my phone. They must have written it down wrong too. Quoted 45 minutes. Called after1 hour 30 minutes and they said it was on it's way. It wasn't. If a local supporter of my business had this bad of an experience, I would definitely have done more to make it right. Instead they have lost a long time customer. read more

This is our staple to go for food in general! Everything is reasonably priced. Wait staff is nice and attentive. I have yet to have a bad experience here. The fact that I can hear the person I'm sitting next to or across from me is a must! Most places in Sitka have an open concept, so conversation is almost non-existent with all the loud music and 8 TVs going on. The food has also been great! I have yet to try something that would turn me away. Not everything is blow your mind delicious, but the food satisfies any craving. read more

Called in and told the attendant that I didn't have a menu in front of me and wanted a pizza delivered to my hotel room. Ordered a pepperoni & sausage pizza. Asked about crust options and was told they had a butter crust option. It sounded good so I ordered it. Big mistake. Pizza was drenched in oil. No tomato sauce on the pizza. If I had been told it was without sauce I would have never ordered it. They should have explained the crust option meant no sauce an lots of oil. I could have wrung it out to dry it was so full of oil. Very expensive for a low quality pizza. I was offered a free delivery of sauce but by then I had thrown out the pizza. Pizza is good, but I go there for the Mexican food. I used to live in New Mexico, and while this isn't in the same league as much of the food there, (I'm looking at you Nellie's and Chopes), it still satisfies. The shrimp and seafood is better here. I also used to live in Juneau, and the food here is at least as good as anything you get there, so I'd go so far as to say it is the best Mexican food in South East Alaska! They have draft beers with Negra Modelo on tap, (as well as other, lesser, beers). The restaurant is family friendly. Children don't want Mexican food, fine, there is pizza or hamburgers too. There is TV for the kids to watch and the atmosphere is quiet and pleasant. They also do take-out and delivery. The owner is very friendly and does a lot for Sitka, including giving many young kids their first job. The staff is friendly and attentive. Sometimes it is slow, but sometimes it is muy rapido! It just depends. So, forget that it is a pizza place in a strip mall, this restaurant is legit! read more

This restaurant had slow, (we had to take up to the register and in the middle she went to do something else even though it was pretty empty) but friendly service. The Mexican food was bad. The salsa did not have a fresh taste and the hot wasn't hot. The red chili was flavored with cinnamon and was brown orange in color. The tacos came in flour tortilla instead of corn.
