Came in the the afternoon and asked her how long should i wait, she said: "25 mins", ok not bad. when its my time to get a haircut, all of a sudden, someone sneak in and was told by her just a quick one, i said ok. well, after about 1 hr of waiting, i sat down on her favorite chair and was talking to her about this is my first time trying her shop. She told me that she will not cut my hair and to get out ! I ask her why, she didnt provide a valid or reasonable excuse or answer or an apology, this is after 1 hr of waiting. I got out and went with my regular hair cutter which is in SF. Whether you are a big company, a big corporation or a small one, as long as you deal with the consuming public, you have a responsibility to them - give them a reasonable reason why you are declining a service to them, if not why do business. Yelps and business can manipulate their reviews based on what they want you to read, hear and see. Truly a gem at the Pelton Center. Choi has to be the nicest barber I've met in my life so far . First visit give yourself at least 1hr 1/2 for the most relaxing haircut you'll have . My regular shop was closed on Tuesday when I needed a cut before returning to work. Saw Choi's shop nearby and decided to give it a try. I'll be going here from now on. I moved up from SoCal about 3 years ago, and without my barber of 15 years, I've had my share of unhappy cuts. However, as soon as I walked into Choi's shop, I felt at ease. The shop is clean, tidy, and quiet with an old-school charm that is inviting and calming. Just as the other reviewers mentioned, she is meticulous and skilled. She takes her time with each customer, so if you are waiting, this means you might have to be a bit patience. Each of my 4 haircuts have turned out nicely. Choi knows how to do a natural fade and taper which is probably the most difficult part to do for guys getting very short cuts. I am glad I discovered Choi. The reviews above were accurate. The barber around the corner was closed so I came here and took a chance. She was indeed meticulous and thorough. If you're wondering what kind of haircuts she is capable of, when I got there she was giving an older gentleman a perfect taper. It faded perfectly. The next guy was a 20 something tech dude, so an older, "unhip" person would say he had a young, "hip" haircut. I'm growing my hair out, so I asked her to fade from a 0 to a 1, and leave the top alone. Her taper was pretty clean, then she used her scissors to shape the top, then she cleaned up the lines. As for conversation, I didn't talk to her much because one of the regulars felt compelled to delve into the intricacies of his new electric car, of which he had many (intricacies that is). I've been getting my hair cut here ever since I was 4 years old, and I am now 18 years old. Throughout the many years I have been going to Choi's for my haircuts, I have always been welcomed with open arms, a warm smile, a relaxed and comfortable environment, and wonderful conversations time and time again. Throughout these past few years, she has practically seen me grow up into the young man that I am today. Every time I come home from college, I'm always sure to stop by! As far as skill goes, she has plenty of it. Personally, I have quite the full head of hair, and to cut it is no easy task. However, no matter how busy she is, she always makes you feel like you're the only customer there by not rushing her work and being very precise and detailed right down to the very last hair! This is the only place I'll get my hair cut. Choi the barber does the most complete job imaginable on my hair every time I visit her. I swear it's like she carefully cuts each and every hair on my head! She's a very sweet, caring lady and everyone who comes in to see her seem to just love her. She's also great to talk to (but only if you initiate a conversation) and always has the most positive and encouraging advice. I also leave there without any hair down the back of my shirt or in my ears like other places I've been. My only criticism would sometimes be the wait times, up to 30 minutes per client, but it's very much worth the wait compared to the other barbers in the area. I don't go here if I'm in a rush, but can usually time it to where there's only one person in front of me. If you go there enough and she'll start giving you a hug after you pay - no charge!
