This is not a quick haircut. Overall, good experience for its price. Kevin is very detailed oriented, and makes sure you are happy with the cut. However, The price range in Yelp is definitely misleading, $35 for men's haircut is definitely not one dollar sign. Only found out when I arrived. He's back! Reopened for indoor service. I've been going to him for years after trying a bunch of other barbers that love to overcharge you to pay for their beard grooming and tattoos. Seriously, he's a true gem in San Leandro for a great haircut. And the people know, because there's always a wait to get your hair right with Kevin. The guy does it all, fades, tapers, hard parts, long hair, short hair, etc etc. The one bright spot about this pandemic is that now Kevin takes appointments! That's right, no more waiting. Kevin only allows one client in at a time, has the place sanitized, wears masks and gloves the entire time. I felt very safe the entire time. TL/DR: Great Cut, Great Safety Precautions, Good Price My frist time going to Kevin and I was happy with the results. The Cut: As everyone mentioned here, he's really good. Listens to what you want and takes his time to give you a great cut. Not sure I'm just so thrilled getting my hair cut after 6 months of COVID lockdown or if the cut is actually that good. But regardless, I felt like he cut my hair the way I wanted. Was really impressed by Kevin taking his time with my cut. He asked a few questions and interpreted what I wanted really well. The Establishment (Post COVID) As others have mentioned here, I was impressed by the precautions he took. He had a mask and gloves on the entire time. Had the front door and back door open to create more of an open air environment. He only takes one client at a time (I called for an appointment and he said come down right now, I'm free, so I got lucky). After he was done with me, he sanitized the whole shop. I watched him as he closed the front door to start cleaning and spraying everything down. The Price: His prices went up, but like everything in the post covid world, this is understandable (and to some degree should be expected). He can only see a certain amount of clients per hour (for our and his safety) and has to spend extra money on cleaning products, etc. He's also taking on more risk to provide the service. I brought my 6 month old son here for his first haircut because of proximity to home. I showed up Friday and the place was packed even though it was close to six. We had to leave. I took it as a good sign that there were so many people waiting patiently! I came back the next day, it was packed again but I didn't think it would be too long of a wait because guy's cuts should be fast, right? Nope. I ended up waiting 1.5 hours! Kevin has been my barber for the last 4 or 5 years, and I've tried nearly every place in San Leandro. I'm also an Army Reservist so I cut my hair a lot, at least every other week, and he gets it perfect every time. In the last few years, word has spread about how great he is, and now there's consistently a line of 4 or 5 customers. (And he is the only barber. ) I'm torn because I'm happy that he's gotten so much more business, since he deserves it but it also sucks to have to wait in line for an hour and a half just for a haircut. Positives: when you get a barber who gives you what you want at a high quality and is not across the city so you can save some gas when getting to a closer barbershop, what do you feel, what to you say? Hallelujah!! Even after a 90 minute wait on Tuesday, I really wanted to try out this place because of the incredible reviews and I was thankful I stayed, despite my huge reluctance about wait time. Do note Wednesdays and Thursdays are his slower days, I theorize this is because people tend to do things on beginning or end of a week. It's gone from $15 to $16 for a haircut, which is almost a little too much considering the %15-20 tip folks generally give in the service industry. There's limited parking in the parking lot but there exists street parking. This place is worth it if you're a guy. You come in, request what type of cut you want, he gives it to you, you pay at the front desk, and that's that. It's a very compact place but he runs it cleanly and efficiently. The building is next to a small local grocery store. As I walked in, only the owner was there. There were 2 guys before me so I had to wait for at least 30 mins. When my time came, I explained to Kevin what style I prefer with my hair.
