Great experience here. Mario is the GOAT. Randomly called and immediately was able to schedule an appointment. I was assigned a barber already but asked for someone with experience since I had not gotten a trim/cut, grown my hair for 4 years; Mario happened to be free and stepped in after seeing my hair. I was not sure what to do and what cut to get but had ideas. Mario and I talked for about 5 minutes giving me ideas, giving me some advice on what's better to do. He cut my hair and took great care of me. Cut, shampooed, styled. Everything was done with professionalism. The vibes were great, everyone was professional, and I cannot thank Mario enough for actually getting something I truly loved with my hair. I actually plan to schedule another appointment with Mario (if I'm able to, he's usually booked 3 weeks out), to fully execute our full plan with my hair. I went in for a haircut after growing my hair out for a while. I knew this would be a challenge for any barber. I ended up getting a Barber who was still expanding his skills, his name was Carlos. Carlos went in a little hesitant but ended up giving me a great haircut. The entire environment was amazing. Carlos was able to rely on his fellow barbers for tips and guidance (special shoutout to Mario for helping close out the cut and polish up some of the fine details.) I've seen a barbershop with such a collaborative spirit. It helped make me feel comfortable in what started off as an iffy situation. Overall an awesome experience and I will be returning. read more

The haircut with Jose I got overall was great until I got got home. I noticed where he did my line up in the front he pushed back one side way too much and you can tell right away. I ended up wearing a hat to hide it cause it looked so ridiculous which made me not even enjoy my haircut anymore. read more

Certified Cutz barbershop is top notch. Comfortable seating, nice lightning and nice air conditioning are all a plus. They make you feel comfortable when getting a haircut and very easy to talk to. I've been going here for 2 years straight and my specific barber, Mario, is the best. Mario does an excellent job and goes above and beyond. Mario provides great insight on hair maintenance and also shares recommendations based on your head shape. Very friendly service! Mario does not provide unsolicited advice, which I do appreciate since other barbershops will give you unsolicited suggestions and be a bit more pushy especially if there are hair products involved. My haircut comes with a facial steamer, clean shave, hot face towel and leaves my skin feeling ultra clean and glowing. If there was one thing to complain about it is with the parking. While there are plenty of street parking available, sometimes it's difficult to find parking during a busy day, but hasn't bothered me that much. I have been getting my haircut from Mario for almost 2 years, Mario was at another location in Oakland and I followed him here. Mario has been in the industry for over 17 years and still have passion! I really enjoy that Mario takes his time to cut my hair, he is very detailed. He also washes my hair really well after the cut. I can get a cut and go out and don't worry about hair being all over my clothes and face. There's plenty of parking on the cross street. If you plan to get any haircuts make sure you call first and schedule a appointment. They are normally book you don't want to show up and be disappointed. Avoid this place if you are African American. They do not listen to what you request and the only black barber there had no regard for my waves. He completely cut them off by going against the grain and going too low. Even after I asked him not to. I left disappointed and upset & I'm still asking myself the question. I'm very picky with my hair and when Eric gave me my first haircut I was hooked. He lined up my beard perfectly and did my fade exactly how I wanted. Walked in to get a simple fade.. this kid Calvin absolutely has no bars what so ever. Hands down the worst hair cut I've ever had. I clearly explained how I wanted my hair cut, dude didn't do a single thing I asked?! I think the kid is slower than normal due to his lack of following simple decisions.
