My first time here today and I had the privilege of having Gabriel give me a haircut. He was kind, professional, precise and a master at his craft. Before he even started cutting my hair, he asked what I wanted and asked questions. He even made a suggestion and told me to go with a number 2 instead of a 3 on the side. I could tell from the person's hair he cut before me, and the way he cut my hair that he really cares about what he's doing and giving the best haircut possible. He pays attention to detail. They typically have 4 people doing hair so it helps the wait time move quickly. They all seem really well versed in different types of hairstyles and more importantly types of hair they are cutting. My man, Gabe aka The Jack of All Fades, is a BOSS at cutting hairs. Upon meeting me/putting me in his chair, He literally took several minutes walking around me, scanning my hair from all angles, even feeling my head and identifying the geography of my head and the pattern of my hair growth to give me the best haircut of my life! Also, I was trimming my hair myself when my guard blade fell off so I chunked a bald spot on my head - on the day I need to look good for work. He not only fully saved the day and blended the best fade ever, he also complemented me on doing a pretty good job on my own. I normally don't do this but I'm to giving this place a 3 star- why? Here it goes...our first experience was awesome. It was with a lady that I never saw again after that one time. The second time- the experience was horrible. A guy was so unprofessional and my child walked out with a horrible haircut. The guy didn't even bother asking me the type of haircut I wanted for my kid. Giving it a benefit of the doubt- i took my child back once more. Both times my child has walked out with an uneven horrible haircut. We have to attend a special event this weekend and his cut is an absolute hairstrosity. Will be going to someone else to correct this mess. On a different note, Angie is awesome! Although she tried to correct the mess there was just so little that she could do. unfortunately- I won't be coming back anymore. Bummer. read more

Got a beard trim from Jack. What a guy. He took his time, was exceedingly honest (suggested that maybe I didn't need a trim), offered great advice, listened to what I wanted to do with my beard in the long term, suggested products to use... the list goes on and on. And then he charged less than he said he would! This place is a solid 1/2 hour away from my house without traffic (there is usually traffic). I will not hesitate to go back to Jack in the future. Sadly, Richie's Barber Shop, specifically the Italian lady with dark-rimmed glasses, was a disappointing first run. Pros: The barber shop was lively on a Wednesday afternoon and I was seen within 5 minutes of sitting down. There is also free parking available in the back which shares its lot with Safeway. Cons: My haircut was completed in under 10 minutes - wow! The barber was chatty and inattentive. There was zero fading work as requested, just jabbing at my head with the razor in random directions. I was horrified to see afterwards, as expected, that my haircut turned out patchy and uneven. I exited the establishment as quickly as possible. I would normally say you get what you pay for, but $17 was certainly MORE than 10 minutes of this shoddy barber's time. read more

Met my barber, Dave, about an hour ago and can say it was the most attentive cut I've received in a long time. There were two guys waiting in front and only Dave cutting, so I ended up waiting just shy of 35 mins for my turn. That said, it was definitely worth the wait. Enjoyed talking to him. I am active duty and we told stories back and forth and laughed quite a bit. There were 2 guys waiting behind me but he didn't rush anything or act like he was in a hurry whatsoever. Even stood around and bullshitted a bit after I had paid. I don't care much about ambiance or the environment of a barber shop; but for those of you that do, it's a basic no frills barber shop. Jack Perez didn't amazing job on my haircut. I think he landed me a job. I have been going to richies for a while now and I haven't seen Jack there. So I was skeptical over the quality of haircut I would receive. Im happy to report he's a professional in all aspects of the job, from being courteous to the mastery at his craft.
